A lorry driver was arrested in Bukit Beruntung, Selangor, on Sunday (Nov 30) morning after a 150km police chase in which he drove against traffic and allegedly attempted to ram a police vehicle.

00:16during which he drove against traffic and allegedly attempted to ram a police vehicle
00:20in Bukit Beruntung. Hulu-Silango Police Chief Superintendent Ibrahim Hussin said the incident
00:26began at about 5.35am when a patrol unit reported that a lorry had refused to stop. The driver then
00:34entered the Plus North-South Expressway via the Bukit Beruntung toll, travelling against traffic
00:40from Bukit Beruntung to the Sungai Buloh toll before doubling back. Superintendent Ibrahim added
00:47that the suspect drove dangerously throughout the pursuit and tried to collide with the pursuing
00:52police vehicle. Officers eventually intercepted the lorry in Taman Bunga Raya, Bukit Beruntung,
00:58and arrested the driver. Checks revealed the suspect has two prior drug-related convictions
01:03and one criminal record. A urine test later returned positive for methamphetamine.
01:10He will be brought before the Kuala Kubu Baru Magistrate's Court on Monday for remand proceedings.
01:15The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for Attempted Murder
01:21and Section 186 for obstructing a public servant. It is also being probed under Section 42 Subsection 1
01:29of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving, which carries penalties of
01:35up to 10 years jail and fines of up to 15,000 ringgit.
