00:00We've been weaponized there with former judges, and many judges have been removed.
00:06And the interim government has put in their own people there.
00:10So nobody is surprised by this verdict.
00:13And I think it means that now the Awami League has to decide whether they will carry on the struggle or they keep quiet, which I doubt very much.
00:24I think the struggle will go on, and the verdict will not be accepted by the Awami League.
00:33What's your assessment of this sentence and this verdict?
00:36As you know, Bangladesh, ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been sentenced to death by the ICT.
00:45This is the verdict. She was found guilty on charges of crimes against humanity.
00:49The tribunal which was constituted to try genocidal officials of Pakistan Army and their collaborators during the time of 1971 is now misused, has been misused by the interim regime.
01:05I say misused because the tribunal didn't have the mandate to try any other criminal case but charges of genocide during the time of 1971.
01:15This government has brought some amendments into the law for which they actually had no legal authority.
01:23The constitution only allows the parliament to pass amendments to laws.
01:28They're an interim government.
01:30They brought these amendments hastily just to include the riot situation of 2024
01:36and try Sheikh Hasina and the senior leadership of Awami League and convict them before the next election.
01:43So it's a plot to exclude Awami League as much as possible from the next upcoming election which they want to hold in a one-sided manner.
01:54So they know that the verdict cannot be executable because she is not in their custody.
02:02They know that even the Home Minister is not there.
02:06They have already turned the other accused, the Inspector General of Police, into the state's witness.
02:15So the whole process was passed.
02:19And we, of course, reject this verdict.
02:22Right, of course.
02:23There's also this very big aspect of the international community, especially the government of India.
02:27What sort of expectations are there?
02:29So could you repeat that question again?
02:32I just wanted to ask you what you think the role of the international community is, specifically India.
02:38You see, they are trying to finger point at India for giving our leader shelter.
02:45It's not just that India has given our leaders shelter.
02:48Many of our colleagues have gone to other countries, France, UK, USA, and many other, Australia, for example.
02:56And they have obtained asylum in these countries.
