Madelaine Petsch spoke to THR's Tiffany Taylor all about filming the seventh and final season of 'Riverdale,' her new Christmas film and what's next for her. The actress shared what fans can expect from her character Cheryl Blossom in the final season of the Archie Comics-inspired series, as well what drew her to her latest project, the romantic comedy 'Hotel for the Holidays,' and the sort of roles she hopes to take on in the future. 'Hotel for the Holidays' debuts on Amazon Freevee on Dec. 2.
00:00I'm really proud of it. This year is probably my favorite season we've done.
00:03Madelaine Petsch opened up to The Hollywood Reporter all about filming the final season of Riverdale and what's next for her, including her new Christmas film, Hotel for the Holidays.
00:12Known for her roles in thrillers, Petsch is stepping into a new genre with the romantic comedy Hotel for the Holidays.
00:18She revealed what drew her to the movie.
00:20When I read the script, I just thought it was so dynamic and there was so many really interesting and rich characters.
00:25That's very rare in a holiday film. I feel like it's usually centered around two individuals and this has such a wide variety of characters that are all so rich and fun and interesting that when I read it, I was like, this feels like something people could turn to year after year and it would warm their hearts and that makes me really excited to be a part of people's traditions.
00:42The actress spoke to THR from Vancouver, where she's working on the seventh and final season of Riverdale, which she says is bittersweet.
00:49This show gave me like what I have today and I'm so aware of that and so thankful and Cheryl Blossom is truly a piece of me now.
00:56She kind of helped me learn more about myself and grow as a person and I grew up with Cheryl.
01:02You know, I started when I was 21, you know, 28.
01:05So it's kind of insane to think that there's going to be a period of my life where I'm not doing this anymore.
01:09No surprise, her cast is what she'll miss the most, including two co-stars she calls sisters, Lily Reinhardt and Camila Mendez.
01:16I have been through the trenches with those girls.
01:19Any high and low we've shared together.
01:22According to Petsch, the final season is all about relationships.
01:25She teased what fans could expect to see her character Cheryl Blossom go through in season seven.
01:30Fall in love, break up, get with somebody else.
01:33Yeah, there's a lot of that.
01:35There's a lot of that this season.
01:37There's a lot of everybody just mixing it up.
01:41Coming up next, the actress will star in a remake of the psychological thriller The Strangers,
01:45and she hopes to continue producing.
01:48Petsch says she'd love to do more comedy as she enjoyed filming Hotel for the Holidays.
01:52Working on something that was so lighthearted and fun also allows for a different creative tap to flow,
01:58and I really enjoyed that.
01:59So I would definitely love to go into comedy and continue pursuing some stuff.
02:03I also, the weird thing I'd like to do is play a character that was an actual real person
02:08and have to take on, and study and take on somebody else's, you know, characteristics and traits
02:13and the way that they speak.
02:14I'm really excited about doing something like that.
02:16Hotel for the Holidays is available to stream on Amazon Freebie on December 2nd.
02:21For The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm Tiffany Taylor.
