00:00From iconic last ever performances to deeply uncomfortable sequences that are likely better
00:05left untouched, these are just a few of the TV moments that are no longer officially available
00:10to watch anymore. The always watchable Gareth here though from whatculture.com and here are
00:1510 TV show episodes you can no longer watch. 10. Buffalo Gals, Cow and Chicken
00:20Children's cartoons have a funny old habit of unleashing some rather jarring material into
00:25the world from time to time, and that was never more evident than during a season 2 episode of
00:29Cartoon Network's Cow and Chicken by the name of Buffalo Gals. Contending a great many insensitive
00:34jokes at the expense of lesbians throughout, the overall presentation of the titular cartoon ladies
00:39on show as dirty and excessively gross inevitably led to the show receiving a decent amount of
00:45backlash upon its initial airing in February 1998. Sure enough, this would mark the first and last
00:50time the controversial episode would ever air on TV, with the orthodontic police entry replacing it
00:55in subsequent time slots and on streaming services going forward. When a show comes equipped with
01:00painfully unfunny visuals such as said Buffalo Gals eating carpets and enjoying their favourite
01:05pastime of softball, it's probably for the best that it never sees the light of day ever again.
01:099. The Beatles' Last Performance, Top of the Pops
01:12Still sitting in the hearts of many as the greatest band ever to warble a tune, it often feels as though
01:17just about every trailblazing moment of the Beatles' groundbreaking career has been captured and
01:22brought to a screen at some point or another over the years. Yet one specific moment of Beatlemania
01:27that still hasn't ever been re-released in its entirety actually just so happens to be the
01:31iconic band's last ever TV performance as a unit from way back in 1966. With the BBC unfortunately
01:38not keeping tapes around that time, the Top of the Pops performance of paperback writer from the
01:42four rock stars was thought to have been completely lost forever up until a few years back. Then,
01:47on the back of a staggering 11 seconds of personally recorded footage of the foursome miming along in
01:53silence, was dug up by a collector in Mexico, a further 92 seconds of them doing their thing
01:58was sent to the television archive organisation Kaleidoscope by music enthusiast David Chandler.
02:04You still can't watch the entire performance from start to finish in its original quality mind,
02:08but these fans are simply refusing to let it be.
02:108. Rude Removal, Dexter's Laboratory
02:13Returning to Cartoon Network's late 90s penchant for producing content that was always destined to
02:18piss off some parents, Dexter's Laboratory's rude removal very nearly made its presence briefly known
02:24on the channel back in 1997. With the planned season 2 segment containing shots of Dexter and
02:29sister Dee Dee's rude clones going on a mad one after the former invents a rude removal machine,
02:34the sight of the two characters swearing like troopers despite said curses being bleeped out
02:39was enough to convince those running the channel to keep it from airing on TV. However, the episode
02:43would ultimately find new life on the animation festival circuit for a time, and this would
02:47eventually lead to Adult Swim getting their paws on the profanity-packed entity later down the line.
02:52Then, after being uploaded to their official site in a censored capacity in January 2013,
02:57the episode was made private and taken down shortly after, though unofficially re-uploaded and
03:02entirely uncensored versions of the chaotic ep may or may not have managed to wiggle onto YouTube in the end.
03:087. Flying Dupes Tailspin
03:10You have likely spotted a theme by now of those responsible for bringing the next generation
03:15their daily dose of seemingly harmless entertainment in the 90s actually being at the center of some
03:20of the most controversial content being put on television at the time. And it wasn't just those
03:24folks plying their trade under the Cartoon Network banner who let loose some rather unexpectedly
03:29shocking scenes during this period, with Disney's Tailspin series also producing a rather startling
03:35sequence of TV too. Coming during the series' final episode entitled Flying Dupes, Baloo is tasked
03:41with delivering a package for the Thembrian High Marshal, only said item unbeknown to the bear just so
03:46happened to be a bum. No prizes for figuring out why this one ended up on the scrap heap then?
03:50With this sort of terrorist theme being very much present in the content, it came as little
03:54surprise to see the episode banned soon enough, outside of it seemingly being aired by mistake on
03:59Disney at the end of the decade. And despite being released on DVD in 2013, it's also still
04:04unavailable on the likes of iTunes and Disney Plus to this day.
04:086. Smart and Smarterer โ The Suite Life of Zack and Cody
04:11Keeping with the House of Mouse now, and to those seemingly sweet little scamps occupying a swanky room
04:16in the Tipton Hotel for a couple of years in the mid-naughties. Only things weren't always as
04:21innocent as they seemed when it pertained to Zack and Cody's suite life in Boston. In fact,
04:25one episode under the title of Smart and Smarterer โ yes, an apparent riff on that terrible Dumb
04:30and Dumber sequel โ was deemed so damn offensive that it actually wound up being pulled from the
04:34air before long. With said showing depicting Zack faking having dyslexia in order to earn some extra
04:40time to finish off his tests, on the back of picking up some bad grades. The way the show frames
04:45the learning disability didn't go down too well with viewers, and it would only be shown on the
04:49Disney Channel twice. And though the rest of the show is available on Disney Plus at this current
04:53moment, you will not find Smart and Smarterer on the streaming service. And Disney would likely
04:58prefer you forget this Dylan and Cole Sprouse entry ever saw the light of day in the first
05:01place.
05:025. Hot Spells โ Darkwing Duck
05:05Rounding off the Disney section of this collection of episodes long since stripped away from the
05:09House of Mouse, here's that time Darkwing Duck's Halloween 1992 offering stirred up a little
05:15controversy upon initially tricking and not treating some of its audience. As seen in the Hot Spells
05:20episode, the titular leading light and gosaline take a trip to Morgana's old magic school. Only
05:25to bump into a devilish character by the name of Beezlebub, he most definitely rubbed parents
05:30up the wrong way out of the gates. With the character very much playing the role of devil-like
05:34being in the ep and tempting the protagonist to use forbidden spells throughout, the dark
05:39religious undertones within the showing were deemed unsuitable for kids, to the point
05:43of pulling the episode off the air. In more modern times, this Satan's Stuff series
05:47entry is still unavailable to purchase from the likes of iTunes and Google TV or stream
05:52on Disney+, despite Beezlebub still very much being present in the first season's Dead
05:56Duck episode that is actually watchable via any of those services. How strange.
06:014. The Feast of Stephen โ Doctor Who
06:04Returning to the anything but reliable BBC archives, the British Broadcasting Corporation's
06:09frustrating policy of wiping footage to make way for newer content back in the day ultimately
06:14led to a decent amount of old-school Doctor Who episodes being lost forever. Among these
06:19many discarded tapings was none other than the show's first ever Christmas special, something
06:24that would become a beloved hallmark of the series over the years.
06:27Going by the name of The Feast of Stephen, this Christmas Day 1965 program acted as a comic
06:32detour away from the epic tale being told coming into the episode, with the first Doctor William
06:38Hartnell even taking a sonic screwdriver to the fourth wall in the final scene, and bizarrely telling
06:43folks at home, incidentally, a happy Christmas to all of you at home.
06:46Outside of the odd photograph being preserved of the showing in question though, this surreal
06:50holiday treat appears to have pretty much been erased forever.
06:533. Topless Showgirls โ Dance Moms It's not exactly difficult to see why this
06:58one has long since been buried by Lifetime based on the title of the episode alone.
07:03But that still didn't stop the network from running with said Topless Showgirls moniker,
07:07and the content in general when the time came to air the dodgy season 2 episode back in 2012.
07:12And unsurprisingly, the sight of 8- to 13-year-old girls being taught a showgirls routine whilst
07:17wearing body suits that made it look as though they were nude on the reality TV show did not
07:22go down well with the masses.
07:23On top of changing the episode name to Costume Drama, and that is one way of putting it,
07:27the show was pulled from future airings of Dance Moms on Lifetime, and ended up not being
07:31made available on various digital or streaming service platforms later down the line.
07:35It's also worth noting that despite eventually backtracking due to the backlash, Lifetime did
07:40actually boast about the episode's impressive ratings of 2.7 million viewers not long after
07:44its initial airing, though they likely won't be in too much of a rush to talk about the
07:48deeply uncomfortable episode nowadays.
07:502.
07:51Unstoppable โ Law & SVU After initially being filmed and scheduled for
07:55release back on October 12, 2016, Law & SVU's episode by the name of Unstoppable found itself
08:01being regularly delayed and pushed back until NBC eventually made the call to leave the episode
08:06out of the series altogether in the end.
08:09Why was this very much stoppable slice of police procedural never given the chance to make its
08:13presence known on our screens, I hear you ask?
08:15Well, the episode centred around a figure who very much resembled a certain future president
08:19of the United States, Donald Trump, and said character would eventually be accused of rape
08:23during the episode as he attempted to run for president.
08:26With Trump himself being accused of sexual harassment and assault around the time of the elections
08:31that would be going down as the Unstoppable episode was set to air, this real-life development,
08:35alongside his surprise victory, resulted in the entry being swiftly brushed under the
08:39carpet despite word of a tentative 2017 release.
08:43Despite all this though, you can actually still find a promo for the scrapped episode
08:46on YouTube, so there's that.
08:471.
08:48Episode 847 โ Sesame Street
08:50Sending you home now with one last entirely creepy slice of apparently kid-friendly television.
08:56Sesame Street's 1976 attempt to use The Wizard of Oz's terrifying Wicked Witch of the West
09:01as a way of teaching children the value of facing their fears went down about as well
09:05as you'd have imagined.
09:06Not long after episode 847, depicting the witch losing her broom and going on a tear
09:11through the street, sweeped into the nightmares of youngsters the world over, PBS were inundated
09:16with mail and calls from parents scolding them for frightening their tykes.
09:20Some of which now refuse to switch back on the show out of fear of Margaret Hamilton once
09:24again showing up to spook the life out of them, 37 years on from her first wicked showing.
09:29With this level of fuss being made about the cackling villain's appearance, the banning
09:33of the episode became inevitable, and it's still yet to be made officially available on
09:36the likes of Hulu or HBO Max, with only those using the footage for research being permitted
09:41to take in the chilling content via the American Archive of Public Broadcasting in certain locations.
09:47Simply put, even nearly four decades on, Hamilton had not lost an unsettling step.
