00:00Jane, you just spoke at the Sundance Respect Rally, so I'm wondering, what was the environment like there?
00:07Cold? No, it was also full of great spirit.
00:11I mean, it's amazing that hundreds of people came to stand in the cold and the snow for the rally to show solidarity.
00:19And I left early. I didn't hear all the speeches, but what I heard were really good.
00:24Yeah, and a year after the inauguration and the Women's March, what did you want to get through in your speech?
00:30My main point was marching and protesting is really important, and we've been doing it for a year.
00:36Now we have to move beyond saying no to saying yes and organizing toward that yes and getting people registered into the polls.
00:44The midterm elections are really important.
00:47I was somebody that had no political consciousness.
00:50I led a rather hedonistic, vapid life, frankly.
00:55And one of the things that the movie does is it shows how I transitioned and why I transitioned from that into activism, how that changed my work as an actress.
01:07So I think it allows people who aren't politically active or who don't necessarily agree with me to see themselves in a trajectory.
01:18I know the depth to which people can change, and so I remain optimistic because of my own experiences.
