The transformation of the former Jolly Farmer pub in Blacknest into the Barn Owl by Brunning and Price is now complete. Its doors opened to the public at 5pm on November 27 after a couple of preview evenings for Blacknest residents as a thank you for putting up with any restoration inconvenience. They were also an opportunity for everyone to meet each other again in their local pub after almost two years of closure. The 50-strong crew had been trained over the preceding fortnight with help from veterans at Brunning and Price’s other local pubs, the Mill House in Hook, the Leather Bottle in Mattingley and the Refectory in Godalming. There are plans for a monthly pub dog walk and a Whisky and Haggis Supper for Burns Night in January. A Brunning and Price spokesperson said: “Opening before Christmas is a real bonus, it means that the pub can host and join in with local festive celebrations and really get to be the heart of the community once more.”’
