00:00Hello my lovely friends, here I am, Sean, reporting on this story from Ireland.
00:06Okay, that's not a word against Ireland. You know I love me some Irish and I love being at home,
00:11but where I am not right now is Chicago. I am reporting these wonderful bits of news to you
00:17with a heavy, heavy heart. And by heavy heart, I mean murderous, murderous, jealous rage. But
00:24let's, let's go through the awesome news that has come out of Star Trek Mission Chicago. I'm
00:30Star Trek for Trek culture. Let's do this. By all accounts, it was a wonderful weekend of lots of
00:36fun that has been had by so many wonderful fans, so many creatives both in front of and behind the
00:41camera. So we're going to go through it show by show just to make it a bit easier. We're going to
00:45start with Star Trek Strange New Worlds. Now there was some wonderful kind of props that were on show
00:51and there was a lot of lovely just kind of teasers as to what we can expect. But the first thing
00:56that's been confirmed is the year in which the show is set. 2259, which makes it one year after
01:04Discovery goes through the wormhole and goes into the future. We were like 90% sure it was going to
01:10take place after the events of Discovery. The trailer for Pike confirmed that this locks it down to a
01:15year. So 2259, thanks to some of the artwork that was on show at Mission Chicago. Also what we saw was
01:22a teaser with some seriously cool concept art, kind of graphic art for Strange New Worlds. Now people are
01:30theorizing, is this going to be, are we going to get a different intro every single week in this kind
01:35of style of artwork? But whatever it ends up being, there's a couple of very strange inclusions
01:41in this specifically Strange New Worlds. There's a Borg cube in this artwork. Now the first encounter
01:51with a Borg cube happened in Q-Who in Star Trek The Next Generation. Of course wibbly wobbly timey
01:56wimey, there's ways around everything. It would be interesting to see if they're bringing the Borg in.
02:03I feel, I feel that there's a lot of people who are watching this right now who are just kind of
02:07holding their head in their hands going, do we not have any other villains in Star Trek? No. Can we not
02:12have a look at them as well? Personally, I don't want to see the Borg in Strange New Worlds. I'm going
02:17to hang my hat on it now and if we do, great. Remind me that I said this. They're being used a lot. So
02:23it's only an image, it could mean anything. What's also there is an image of a Starfleet officer in a
02:30TNG era uniform. If these mean anything then potentially we have time travel, we could finally be
02:36getting the Battle of O359 on screen, which I've just thought right this second. Hang on, I take
02:41back exactly what I just said. Giz the Battle of O359, thank you very much. Teased, teased in Best
02:48of Both Worlds and Nemessary. Whatever these end up being, I just have to say they are gorgeous art.
02:52I love the, you know, the kind of avant-garde style that we've got going on here. Everything that we've
02:58seen for Strange New Worlds so far, I am so excited for this show. And just on that, I'm so happy
03:05that I get to say so often how excited I am for a new Star Trek show. It's a bloody good time to be
03:11a Trekkie. Speaking of new Star Trek shows, there was a panel of course on Star Trek Prodigy. There
03:17wasn't an awful lot revealed. One thing I can confirm is that there's 40 episodes that have been
03:22ordered. They are in the pipeline. So that is happening, right? We've had 10 and there's another
03:2710 coming in 2022. There is a confirmed other 20 coming for season 2. Now that might be 2023, 2024,
03:36so probably 2023. So they're happening. There was a teaser of footage shown at Mission Chicago at the
03:44panel that showed a conversation between Admiral Janeway and Captain Chakotay. Now in that teaser,
03:51this is obviously set long before the Protostar gets sent to the Delta Quadrant because Chakotay says,
03:57I'm bringing the Protostar to the Delta Quadrant and Janeway replies with, the only way you'd get me
04:02back there is as a hologram. LOL. But then they share a lovely hug and an embrace because these
04:09two characters, depending on what side of the aisle you come down on. So if you are a JC shipper,
04:15this is exactly everything you've ever been hoping for. If you believe they are just really good and
04:19close friends, this is everything you've been hoping for. This is a win-win. So really,
04:24really excited to see is this from the very next episode, which will be episode 11 of Star Trek
04:29Prodigy. And also, if we're getting her watching, sorry, this is her watching a hologram of this,
04:34if we're getting her watching this, are we going to get a lot more time on the Dauntless now as well?
04:40Remains to be seen. Really, really super excited. It's been such wonderful feedback for Prodigy so far.
04:45Also, the makers behind this show are legends. Also, Dal rocked up to the panel. And that is just
04:52impressive cosplay. The show that we have basically no news about is season 5 of Star Trek Discovery,
04:59because it hasn't started filming yet. Some people have said that potentially, because of the way that
05:04ships it down, that the season 3 of Star Trek Picard might take the slot that would have gone to
05:09season 5 of Discovery, remains to be seen. Discovery, out of all of the shows, has, in this week at
05:16least, it's been wrapped up in a little bit of unpleasant controversy. And that is because of
05:22NFTs. NFTs have been compared to Ponzi schemes. So Star Trek's involvement in this is super
05:29disappointing. So Nico Martin-Green, who is an executive producer on Star Trek Discovery, and Anthony
05:35Rap, both tweeted out their excitement for Star Trek's partnership with NFTs. Now, before we descend
05:42en masse, there is no way that they have not seen the discourse online about fans' serious aversion to
05:50NFTs. There has to be a contractual agreement that was behind those tweets. So before anyone starts
05:59piling on anyone, that is not what the purpose of this is about. NFTs, they're not good. All right,
06:05I say I'm hanging my hat on that. They're not good. Anyone who's involved in the franchise who has to
06:09tweet out in support of them, I have to say that this is, again, there is a contractual agreement. So
06:17take that with a pinch of salt. There was a stand at Mission Chicago, you know, for this new
06:23partnership, several images showed fans not really supporting it. That's how I will describe it. That's
06:31how I'll leave it at that. Unfortunately, I don't have any other news to put in for starting
06:36Discovery there. So we'll have to, we'll have to come to that. Now, much more positive news. Star Trek
06:41Picard. So we knew before Mission Chicago that season three was coming and that we had basically the
06:46entire main cast of the next generation is returning. There, it seems that we're not getting
06:51Will Wheaton back. I do hope that that is a red herring. I'd love to see Wesley Crusher back.
06:56Frankly, he deserves better. I'd love to see, I'd love to see everyone back, but we know at least
07:01that we're getting Patrick Stewart, LeVar Burton, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes, Michael Dorn, Gates
07:05McFadden and Marina Circus. They're all confirmed for season three, which probably led to the rumour.
07:11The rumour was that a Star Trek Picard movie is on the way and, you know, it's going to wrap up
07:17everything that has already been shot down by showrunner Terry Mattelis. He said, no, it's not
07:22happening. Probably is that people have taken the news that the entire cast is back and they've
07:29assigned that to, oh, well, surely there must be a movie happening. So no, there's no movie coming
07:34according to Terry Mattelis. So let's just, we're just looking forward to now the enjoyment that will
07:41be Star Trek Picard season three. It does seem like the show itself is ending there, but we don't know
07:48yet what's going to happen with the crew of La Serena or anything like that. Could there be a
07:52spin-off? Stargazer spin-off? Yes, please. We'll have to see. But yes, as it stands, we're, I'm sort
07:58of confirming the no news, which is no, there is not a movie coming. If they do surprise us with a
08:03movie, I know someone's going to share a clip of this. And if that is the case, you are beautiful and
08:07thank you for paying attention. Last but certainly not least, the absolute crack that was lower decks
08:16this weekend. Jerry O'Connell, Noelle Wells, Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid along with Mike McMahon were
08:23present and they were walking around the convention and the actors were in full costume. Jack Quaid was
08:31even rocking a life action Boimler hairstyle as well. I, I, I have never felt so much FOMO as I did
08:38seeing the pure fun that was some of the photos coming out from these guys as well. Now just
08:44really quickly about the show, a teaser has been released for season three. It looks like they're
08:48going to be stealing the Cerritos, which still doesn't have its whole panels from the end of season
08:52two, to go and rescue Captain Freeman. And the space lock where they're stealing it from is very
08:58like the one that we last saw in Nemesis. And of course, seeing the Cerritos, absolutely. We're
09:02talking, um, search for Spock and stealing the Enterprise was actually referenced in season two
09:08of lower decks as well. So that is really, really fun. Not much in terms of information, just okay,
09:12cool. They're going off on a, on a mission like that. Oh my God, folks, the, the pure fun and chaos
09:17that seem to be the panels coming from, from lower decks. Also, Jack Quaid did the Boimler pose.
09:26That tells me many things. One, Jack Quaid is absolute good crack. And also two, Jack Quaid
09:32knows how to stretch. That's impressive. That's, that, that's impressive. I once attempted the
09:38Boimler pose. Um, it took me about 45 minutes to stretch like that. So Jack, well done. My
09:44favorite image to come out of Star Trek Mission Chicago was the actors in costume taking a photo
09:50with some epic cosplayers. One of whom was dressed as Jennifer the Andorian and Tony
09:56Newsom just shoving her out of the way. Get out of here, Jennifer. I just so much fun. That is
10:03everything for now. There's some cool props coming up. That looks like there's some nice
10:06new, uh, replica dolls coming up as well. More information on that as it comes. But for now,
10:11if you have any fun stories, if you were at Mission Chicago, please reply to this video with
