00:00The easiest option for me was run just run go missing. The first time I went
00:06missing was probably around year eight year nine when I was struggling in
00:11secondary school. I had two permanent school exclusions you know didn't know
00:16about my ADHD at the time and there's a lot of stuff going on in my life and
00:19and that made me just have a very low self-worth and self-esteem. I just didn't
00:27want to be seen by anybody you know I went through a lot of mental health
00:30struggles and the depression the anxiety and stuff like this and I didn't want
00:34anyone to see me and I used to just the easiest option for me was run just run
00:38go missing. It was normally almost like a defense mechanism to when I was
00:42struggling mentally and with my neurodivergence. There was a time where I
00:46was going missing I was gonna just get on a train and just go anywhere random in
00:50the UK and I actually wanted to end it all and I was actually going to and it
00:56was a homeless guy a random stranger who stopped me doing what I was about to do
00:59and I don't know what would have led on that day you know but he stopped me got
01:05me out that mindset and spoke to me and really could relate. My neurodivergence was
01:09the thing that well it makes me you know it's given me all the strengths I've had
01:13in my life but it also gave me a lot of the negatives because of being
01:17undiagnosed as well at the time that I was going missing I didn't know what was
01:21going on and that's what led to the school exclusions to the getting in trouble
01:24with police you know in and out of court so yeah my ADHD was the biggest
01:29catalyst for going missing and my ADHD not being understood was even bigger now
01:33I think if my ADHD had been understood I wouldn't have had all the issues I had
01:38don't get me wrong it wouldn't have been easy but I certainly wouldn't have gone to
01:41that length in my life and that extreme and what my life likes now is very
01:44different so an advisor for missing people to help young people that are you
01:50know care experienced maybe thinking of going missing have gone missing have been
01:54through the same sort of struggles that I have I think what safe call has done
01:57they've got the trick of using youth voice it's almost that nothing about us
02:02without us sort of thing and that's what's really powerful if something like
02:06this had been around when I was younger I wouldn't have felt all the things I
02:09felt I wouldn't have continually gone missing you know I wouldn't have felt
02:12suicidal it's very important that people donate and see this as an important
02:17cause because we don't want what we don't want is another lost generation of
02:24people just going missing not you know laughing themselves understanding
02:29themselves and and that's just neurodivergence so we need to make sure
02:32that we donate and we support the cause because it's so important and it
02:38benefits only life
