00:00U.S. President Donald Trump hinted on Thursday that ground operations against drug trafficking
00:04in Venezuela might start very soon.
00:08Speaking to military personnel during a Thanksgiving call, Trump said operations by land would
00:12follow recent actions at sea where he claimed there has been an 85% reduction in trafficking.
00:19The U.S. has already deployed its largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford,
00:24to the Caribbean as part of a major crackdown on drug routes.
00:29Washington accuses the government of Nicolás Maduro of enabling drug cartels, recently
00:33designating the Cartel of the Sons allegedly linked to the Venezuelan military as a terrorist

00:40Tensions have led to a crisis in air travel, with Caracas blocking several international
00:45airlines accused of, quote, joining the actions of terrorism promoted by the U.S.
00:51Maduro has ordered his air force to be ready to defend the country and warned of a republic
00:56in arms if the conflict escalates.
