How Alec Baldwin Accidentally Just Killed A Crew Member

00:00Alec Baldwin and his crewmates saw a horrifically tragic accident unfold on the set of his latest
00:06movie, Rust, which promptly halted filming.
00:09The former 30 Rock star had been filming his upcoming project at the Bonanza Creek Ranch
00:13in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in which he stars alongside the likes of former Vikings star
00:19Travis Fimmel and former Supernatural actor Jensen Ackles.
00:23The movie is a Western and follows Baldwin's character, an outlaw named Harland Rust, who
00:28teams up with his grandson to go on the run together.
00:31Rust's grandson is charged with accidental murder, and Rust breaks him out of prison.
00:36But sadly, tragedy has since hit the set, leaving one person dead and another injured.
00:41According to People, while filming on October 21, Baldwin accidentally misfired a prop gun,
00:47killing the movie's cinematographer, Holina Hutchins, and injuring its director, Joel Sousa.
00:52Hutchins was airlifted to a nearby hospital, but tragically died after arriving.
00:57Rust Movie Productions LLC said in a statement,
01:00The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today's tragedy, and we send
01:05our deepest condolences to Holina's family and loved ones.
01:10The company added,
01:11We have halted the production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully
01:15cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department's investigation.
01:19We will be providing counseling services to everyone connected to the film as we work to
01:24process this awful event.
01:26A Santa Fe Sheriff's Department official told Deadline that Baldwin had been, quote,
01:31questioned by investigators and released, but added,
01:34No arrests or charges have been filed.
01:36They also confirmed that the investigation remains open and active, and shared that, quote,
01:42Witnesses continued to be interviewed by detectives.
01:45People shared a photo of Alec Baldwin in New Mexico shortly after the incident occurred, in
01:49which he appeared to be outside.
01:52Early on October 22nd, Baldwin tweeted a statement on the tragedy,
01:56There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the
02:01life of Helena Hutchins, a wife, mother, and deeply admired colleague of ours.
02:06I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred, and I am in
02:11touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family.
02:15My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Helena.
02:22Baldwin was seemingly questioned about what happened on the set while inside the sheriff's
02:26office, and a spokesman confirmed that, quote, he willingly provided a statement.
02:31The sighting came as Baldwin deleted a photo of himself from the set from his Instagram account
02:36following the tragedy.
02:37The snap, which is still available to see via the sun, showed the actor in character as
02:42Harland Rust, wearing a bloodstained shirt as he stood amongst a collection of trailers.
02:46He held his jacket in one hand and a cowboy hat in the other.
02:50Rust cinematographer Holina Hutchins posted several updates from the set of the movie to
02:54her Instagram account, leaving behind a poignant reminder of the fun she was having just days
02:59before her tragic death.
03:01Hutchins' final post was a video that showed her horse riding in New Mexico on October 19th.
03:06She gazed into the camera and gave her followers a look at her stunning surroundings.
03:11Alongside a smiley face, she wrote,
03:13"'One of the perks of shooting a Western is you get to ride horses on your day off.'"
03:17Shortly before that, an even more heartbreaking post came in the form of a photo of the cast
03:22and crew on the outdoor set.
03:24The image showed the gang gathered together, with the actors in costume, as they smiled for
03:28the camera.
03:29Hutchins tagged several of the cast and crew in her post, including Alec Baldwin.
03:34Reports have flooded in for Hutchins following her death, including a touching Instagram
03:38message from Joe Manganiello, who worked with her on the 2020 movie Arch Enemy.
03:43"'We're sending our condolences to Hutchins' family and to everyone on the set after such
03:48a horrific tragedy.'"
