00:04Navigating Our Future Together, alamin natin yung mga konkretong plano at hakbang
01:26Sir Joey Concepcion. Sir Joey, welcome po.
01:28Welcome back. Thank you so much for being with us this morning.
01:35Kung ano pong ibig sabihin itong ASEAN Business Advisory Council?
01:39This is basically where the private sector comes in.
01:44Matagal na yan. During 2017, I was already part of the ASEAN under President Duterte.
01:50I was also the chair of the ASEAN back at that time.
01:55But that was my first time.
01:56So I was trying to really learn on how it works.
02:01But my father has been in the ASEAN much longer.
02:06He was one of those who were the first to be in the ASEAN Business Advisory Council.
02:13And now you're handling the ASEAN Business Advisory Council.
02:18What can we expect since this is your second time being the chair of the ASEAN back?
02:23The First Lady is very active, very supportive.
02:27It's essential that the government and the private sector work together.
02:31Well, what's very important is that the theme of this ASEAN is going to be towards...
02:41Not creating our future together.
02:42Yes, but really focus on really helping the MSMEs.
02:47Okay.
02:48That's going to be the direction.
02:51Because our country is suffering from poverty until now.
02:54We have a lot of people who are out of jobs.
02:58Okay.
02:58And you can see that for us to be able to be a Singapore, a Malaysia, an Indonesia,
03:06we should look at how they got to that level.
03:09We have to show that the world can trust us.
03:14Because if they're going to invest in the Philippines,
03:17Philippines Inc. as the company,
03:19they must be assured that the people managing the country are honest.
03:26That's very important.
03:28Good reputation.
03:29And have a good reputation and foresight to be able to grow and be part of ASEAN.
03:34So, through the years that I've been with ASEAN,
03:39each country really ensures that they project themselves well.
03:43Okay.
03:44In terms of ASEAN-BAC, sir,
03:46paano po niyo ipoproject?
03:47Despite all the challenges that we're facing at today's time,
03:52ASEAN-BAC would make sure na mapoproject pa rin natin yung chairmanship ninyo, sir,
03:58and also the purpose of the ASEAN-BAC.
04:01Well, actually,
04:03it's going to be the Philippines that will have to run that
04:06because ASEAN-BAC is composed of many countries.
04:08They are also watching on the Philippines because they're part of it in the sense
04:13that they're part of the Business Advisory Council.
04:16But it is going to be totally our role to make this whole turnaround happen.
04:23And I think it will.
04:24I think a lot of Filipinos,
04:26this will be one of the biggest international events of the president.
04:29So, the private sector has to support him.
04:33And we're requesting support from the private sector.
04:36And slowly, many are coming in as sponsors,
04:39which is very important because a huge funding is needed
04:42when you host an ASEAN event like this.
04:45So, with this theme, Navigating Our Future Together,
04:48how would we make sure po na ang ASEAN-BAC ay nakalinya doon sa tema po natin?
04:54Well, as sits with the chair, we are the captain of the ship.
04:57So, we must make sure that whatever we agree in this ASEAN Business Investment Summit,
05:05because we will, I mean, there are, how many countries are there?
05:09Ten countries, and then you've got some, what is this?
05:13We also have corporations from different countries aside from the ASEAN members.
05:16Yes, you have dialogue partners, you know, United States, Europe.
05:18So, but what is very important here is that, to me, we have to send, what is the message?
05:27What is the objective of hosting the ASEAN here?
05:30Okay.
05:30That's very clear.
05:33What we're doing is that this, what we're trying to bring about is that we want to project the Philippines
05:39that we are a country to invest in.
05:48Well, our theme here is prosperity for all.
05:51Okay.
05:51It's the same theme that we used in the past.
05:54And what we are, and it's not only the Philippines that is focused on the small entrepreneurs,
06:01other countries, for a country to become wealthy, you have to have everybody become wealthy,
06:07not just the rich being wealthy and the rest of the people below the poverty level remain where it is.
06:12I understand, sir, you've been doing many advocacies on this through GoNegosyo.
06:18Micro-small, medium enterprises are considered as the backbone of our economy.
06:23Paano po makatutulong ang ASEAN-BAC sa ating mga MSMEs?
06:27How would they make sure that they're involved?
06:30How are they going to be responsible as well to make sure na unshack pa rin tayo when it comes to our economic integration?
06:38What we want them to see is that all of these people who come are all businessmen.
06:44Okay.
06:45So, and all the ASEAN, we're all in business.
06:49So, what we want to send a message is that we are now, you know, the Philippines cannot compete alone.
06:57Okay.
06:57That's why ASEAN has come together.
06:59Because when you come together, you become a stronger force than you being alone.
07:04We're excited for the ASEAN 2026 and also your chairmanship for the ASEAN Business Advisory Council of the Philippines.
07:11Thank you so much.
