00:00The Tampa Bay Rays. Yeah. Yeah. And then there was some controversy about a player who was
00:07supposed to be quarantined. David Letterman is calling out Dodgers star Justin Turner over his
00:12post-World Series win COVID controversy. On Wednesday, Letterman dropped by Jimmy Kimmel
00:17Live to chat about the latest season of his Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.
00:22But of course, some current events were also brought up to break the ice. Letterman mentioned
00:26the Dodgers' recent World Series victory and talked about how much fun it was in the late 70s when
00:31he lived in Los Angeles and the team played the New York Yankees for the championship.
00:35When I lived in Los Angeles, it was the Dodgers in the 70s playing the Yankees in the World Series.
00:42Yep. You know the date of that? 77-78. Two years. 77-78. He admitted he didn't watch this year's
00:49series, but he was still aware of the Turner controversy and said this. There is no I in
00:54team, but there is an I in Ventilator. That's right. There is an I in Ventilator.
00:59Major League Baseball said on Wednesday that it was opening an investigation after Turner
01:03celebrated on the field among his teammates despite the fact he was pulled in the middle
01:07of the game because he had tested positive for COVID-19 earlier that day. The league said in a
01:12statement cited by the LA Times, while a desire to celebrate is understandable, Turner's decision
01:17to leave isolation and enter the field was wrong and put everyone he came in contact with at risk.
01:22When MLB security raised the matter of being on the field with Turner,
01:26he emphatically refused to comply. For more on this story, head to THR.com.
01:30For The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm Tiffany Taylor.
