Dave Chappelle has leveraged his relationship with Netflix to get 'Chappelle's Show' removed from the streamer.

00:09Netflix has removed Chappelle's Show from their platform at Dave Chappelle's request.
00:14In a video from a recent stand-up set Chappelle posted on Instagram Tuesday,
00:18the comedian opened up about what he says was a terrible contract he signed at the outset of Chappelle's Show,
00:23which ran from 2003 to 2006 on Comedy Central.
00:27People think I made a lot of money for Chappelle's Show.
00:30When I left that show, I never got paid.
00:34They didn't have to pay me because I signed the contract.
00:39Chappelle's Show had been streaming on Netflix in the United States since November 1st.
00:43It also streams via Viacom's CBS Properties, Comedy Central, and CBS All Access,
00:48and HBO Max, which recently licensed the show.
00:51I found out that these people were streaming my work,
00:55and they never had to ask me or they never had to tell me.
00:59Chappelle, who has made several specials for Netflix over the past few years,
01:02said he was furious when he found out the platform he's worked with was streaming the show.
01:06I called them and I told them that this makes me feel bad.
01:11And do you want to know what they did?
01:13They agreed that they would take it off their platform just so I could feel better.
01:20Netflix reps confirmed this to The Hollywood Reporter.
01:23Chappelle also appealed to the audience not to watch the show anymore.
01:27I'm not asking to boycott any network.
01:29Boycott me.
01:31Boycott Chappelle's Show.
01:32Do not watch it unless they pay me.
