00:00Why would we kill our babies? They're alive. We see them jumping on the ultrasound screen
00:05because they're going to die anyway. Why would we make that process go faster? If they're going to
00:11miscarry, just let that happen naturally. I was pregnant with conjoined twins October 2022 when
00:18I found that I was pregnant for the first time. Super, super nauseous. And I always thought in the
00:22back of my head, oh my gosh, what if it's twins? But this pregnancy would present more challenges
00:26than she could ever imagine. I had really, really bad abdominal pain around 10 weeks. So we decided
00:31to go to the ER. They did an emergency ultrasound, ran to go grab my husband. You are pregnant with
00:37twins, but your twins are very special because they are conjoined and looks like they can't be
00:43separated. Most likely you are going to have a miscarriage. And if you don't have a miscarriage,
00:49I'm going to be stillborn. She's facing every mother's worst nightmare and is forced to make
00:53a heartbreaking decision. Basically, they were telling me, do you want to have an abortion or
00:58not? And to me, that was like a slap in the face. I had three different doctors come in and ask me
01:03the same question. How do you want to proceed? Let God be God. The doctors don't have the final say.
01:09Only God had the final say. So do make it to a term. You will need to have a C-section to deliver the
01:14babies. If we live in a time of modern medicine, we're just going to continue. But her brave decision
01:20would reignite her excitement and led to something beautiful. Found out that they were two little
01:25girls. This is Maria Therese. She's baby A. And then Rachel is baby B, Rachel Claire. We had
01:32ultrasounds just to check for signs of heart failure. Their heart is starting to fail. They're seeing early
01:38signs of heart failure. And their single umbilical cord was starting to not supply enough nutrients,
01:44oxygen, whatever they needed for both of them. They said, we need to deliver within the next few
01:50days. It was finally time for her to meet her conjoined twins in a moment that would last a
01:55lifetime. I had a classical C-section, uh, to deliver the twins. And the babies were born. Maria
02:02Therese and Rachel Claire were born alive at 32 weeks. They allowed my husband in the OR. My mom was
02:09in the OR. A priest was in there and a photographer to, um, capture their, their moments. And what was
02:17really important for us was for them to be baptized and confirmed immediately. So they, uh, put them
02:23directly right on my chest. Maria had her eyes open. She even cried really loud. And the priest was there
02:30and he immediately, uh, baptized them in Latin, uh, Maria and then Rachel, and then confirmed them in
02:36Latin as well. My husband held them and together they breathed in together and then they exhaled together
02:42and then they passed away, um, in his arms. And two years later, after having a miracle rainbow
02:48baby, they will always take their baby to visit her older sisters, making sure that they are never
02:54forgotten. We have to give our children back to God. Ultimately, our children are not for us. They're
02:59gifts. But ultimately, we all go back to the father. So that's what I tried to do for the girls.
03:04And that's what I hope that my message can be for, for others.
