00:07Sila Cha in Chonburi province is home to over 10,000 German residents, German schools and
00:13more than 80 German restaurants.
00:16Back in 1980s, Sila Cha was a quiet hostel town.
00:20Then came the rise of industry.
00:22The Lam Chabang port opened, turning Chonburi into a logistics hub, catching the eye of
00:27German investors.
00:29After the 1985 Pasa Accord, many Chinese manufacturers looked aboard to cut cords.
00:36Thailand's eastern seaboard provided land, tax benefits and easy shipping.
00:41Today the area has over 10 major industrial estates with more than 10,000 factories, many
00:47run by Japanese.
00:49But it's not just factories, there are Japanese supermarkets, manga cafes and sushi bars everywhere.
