Thailand rushes to set up airport field hospital as floods hit

Thailand rushes to set up a temporary hospital at Hat Yai airport as hundreds of evacuated residents arrive at shelters, the disaster prevention department said on Nov. 26, 2025.

Video filmed by Thai PBS showed medical and military personnel placing beds inside the airport building to accommodate patients affected by the flooding.

Floodwaters had started to recede in Thailand and Malaysia on Nov. 27. At least 2.7 million people have been affected in nine provinces of southern Thailand, authorities said, with 3,000 more people moved to safety from the worst-hit city Hat Yai on Wednesday, including critically ill hospital patients airlifted out.
