The World Robot Olympiad opens in Singapore, bringing together hundreds of international students, some as young as eight, to compete with robots designed to tackle real-world problems.
The annual event, first held in Singapore in 2004, showcases how technology and science can improve everyday life through the creativity of young innovators. Organizers said this year’s theme, 'The Future of Robots,' has drawn a record number of participants.
Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Grace Fu, said it drew 'almost 600 teams from over 90 countries… It is so heartening to see strong interest from our talented young minds.'
