Floods and landslides in Indonesia’s North Sumatra province have killed at least 24 people, with five others reported missing, as Southeast Asia faces a wave of deadly flooding.

00:13A tropical cyclone passing over Sumatra Island brought heavy rains that caused rivers to overflow,
00:20triggering floods and landslides across the region.
00:24The hardest-hit areas were Sibolga and Central Tapanuli,
00:28where communications and power lines were cut.
00:31Indonesia's Search and Rescue Agency reported that among the dead were members of a single family in Central Tapanuli.
00:38Footage shared by the agency showed fast-flowing floodwaters sweeping through communities,
00:44destroying buildings and infrastructure in their path.
00:47Parts of West Sumatra were also affected by the heavy flooding.
00:51The disaster comes amid a string of extreme weather events in Southeast Asia.
00:56In recent weeks, floods in Thailand and Malaysia have claimed over 30 lives,
