00:00Hello and welcome to this Queensland Janesweather update for Thursday.
00:04Things are looking fairly quiet at the moment, but we'll have showers and thunderstorms again for the afternoon and evening.
00:10Let's have a look at our current warnings. We've got flood warning in through here, but otherwise it is all about the heat.
00:15It's in the eastern parts of the state. Today there's fire danger rating south of the border.
00:20For today, Thursday, you can see it in the bottom corner there, we've got showers and thunderstorms all through those eastern parts.
00:25So that's the risk zone for today. However, there's also this little bit of activity that's coming in from the west, but most of the activity is in the east.
00:33That is Thursday. Friday, have a look at this southeast Queensland looking clear.
00:38So Friday is our dry day. It is our break. But it is here for one day only.
00:43The next rain system kicking off as we move into Saturday. That's moving across the state and the storms come back to the southeast.
00:49So just that break as we move through the day on Friday.
00:52Let's now watch this slowly contract to the north. So we're here. We're exciting for Saturday as we're going to Sunday, starting to contract northwards.
00:59Monday, just up to here. Tuesday, hardly anything left.
01:03And next week, we do take a bit of a break before it starts to redevelop again at the end of it.
01:08So we've got the end of the week that we have all of that action. A break on Friday.
01:12It comes back again on Saturday and then slowly contracts further northwards.
01:16What is this going to add up to? Big falls returning to the north there.
01:19It is moving into that time of year. We've got the rain that comes in here and disintegrates as it moves across the west.
01:25But it ramps up again as it hits that moist environment in the east.
01:29If you are under a thunderstorm, yes, it's going to be severe weather and it's going to be heavy falls with that storm as it comes through.
01:35But we saw that contracting and moving over to the western side of the country as we move through next week.
01:40So what does this mean for Brisbane?
01:42We're hot today. We're hot on Friday.
01:44We take a little break on Saturday as the wet weather comes back.
01:47So risk of showers and thunderstorms in amongst the sunshine today.
01:50A proper break on Friday.
01:52Showers and storms as we're going to Saturday.
01:54By Sunday, it's still hot and then temperatures start to come down next week as that wet weather disappears.
02:00So the main storm day is likely to be Saturday at this stage.
