00:00Unfortunately, or fortunately, there's only one Ryan. So, you know, I pretty much stopped
00:04acting after that. Ava Mendez is opening up and taking a trip down memory lane of meeting her now
00:10husband Ryan Gosling for the first time. During an interview on the Today Show on Tuesday,
00:15the actress and businesswoman opened up about initially meeting the Oscar-nominated actor
00:19while filming their 2012 movie The Place Beyond the Pines. I've never experienced anything like
00:25that. The way he works, his commitment to his craft, how he wants to make everything as best
00:31as it can be, and that means making his co-stars as best as they can be. She added,
00:36unfortunately or fortunately, there's only one Ryan, so I pretty much stopped acting after that.
00:41The pair have continued to stay private about their over-a-decade-long relationship
00:45by keeping it out of the spotlight. But the two have found subtle ways to show their support for
00:50each other, such as Mendez's sweet Instagram post following Gosling's dazzling I'm Just Ken
00:54Oscar's performance, or Gosling after his performance kissing an E-charm necklace, which
00:59stands for Ava. Elsewhere in her interview, Mendez also opened up about taking a step back from acting
01:05in order to raise their two daughters.
01:07It was like a no-brainer. I'm so lucky. And I was like, if I can have this time with my children,
01:14and I still worked. I just didn't act because acting takes you on locations. It takes you away.
01:18She continued,
01:19It takes you away. It was almost just like a non-verbal agreement that it was like,
01:23okay, he's going to work, and I'm going to work. I'm just going to work here.
