Pakistan is witnessing renewed upheaval as supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan surround Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail after his sisters Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan were denied permission to meet him. A small sit-in quickly swelled into a massive demonstration, with PTI workers chanting slogans as riot police stood by. 00:00Pakistan is once again on the boil as supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan staged

00:17a massive protest outside Adyalajir where the leader has been held on corruption charges.

00:24The protest is being led by Imran Khan's sister Aleema Khan along with her sisters Noreen

00:31Niazi and Uzma Khan who began a sit-in after being denied a meeting with their incarcerated

00:37brother at Adyalajir in Ravalpindi.

00:40Soon members and supporters of Imran Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf joined the demonstration

00:48and what started as a protest by three women quickly snowballed into a gathering of hundreds

00:54minutes.

00:55Videos from outside the jail showed a massive crowd chanting slogans while riot police stood

01:01by as mere spectators.

01:04Aleema Khan told reporters that she would remain at the site until authorities allow her to

01:09meet Imran Khan.

01:11She also criticized the heavy police presence, calling it the law of the jungle.

01:16Aleema condemned the police for their heavy-handedness last week when officers allegedly manhandled

01:22her sisters as they attempted to meet Imran Khan in jail.

01:27She slammed the police for acting to please the army establishment and the political leadership

01:32under the PMLN and the PPP.

01:34Imran Khan was jailed last year on charges of leaking state secrets and wrongfully accepting

01:41gifts he received as Prime Minister.

01:44Observers, however, call his arrest and prison term a sham, arguing that he was punished for

01:50challenging the army establishment.
