00:00Welcome to the True Crime and Mystery Lounge. Today we'll fly to Egypt where we
00:06talk about a cursed building. This building is the Baron's Palace.
00:14Edward M. Payne was a rich Belgian Baron who was born in 1852 and was given the
00:24Baron title by the King of Belgium in 1907 as he helped supporting the
00:30Belgian colonies financially. Edward loved Egypt so much that he was not
00:36allowed to stay in Egypt during the Ottoman Empire since he supported the
00:42European colonies. But after the death of Sultan Hussein, the Baron returned to
00:50Egypt again and built his own palace and he stayed in it with his own family and
00:58enjoyed every little moment.
01:04One day his daughter Anne became friends with a neighbor's daughter. Her name was
01:11Sylvia and Sylvia was a devil worshipper. Every time they meet they would play a
01:20strange loud music and sing along with it. In unknown language, they say that Anne
01:26and Sylvia started some bizarre rituals in this room that included sacrificing bats
01:32and goats.
01:35Right after that the Baron's wife was murdered in the elevator of the palace
01:42and her blood filled the elevator. Then the Baron's sister was also murdered when she
01:49fell from the window of her room. After that six maids in the palace were
01:56found dead. One of them was found in the elevator with her head severed. Then the
02:02Baron's brother died in the basement in unknown way.
02:10Jane and Louis who were the other two kids for the Baron went back to Belgium after all the
02:16strange incidents and no one remained in the palace except the Baron and his daughter Anne
02:23who became mentally ill. Anne would not stop crying and screaming for hours
02:29and the only way she would stop if he locked her in the basement.
02:35His life turned to hell after he woke up one day and found Anne drowned in a well.
02:41The Baron became mentally ill himself and he couldn't handle it anymore so he went back to Belgium
02:50to get treated but he died there on July 22nd 1929 but he was buried in Egypt as he wanted in
03:00his will. Since then everyone became afraid to live in the palace and it was neglected and turned to ruins.
03:15People who lived near the palace said they hear screaming and strange noise every night coming from
03:22the palace and the basement. In 1982 the neighbors saw huge smoke coming out of the palace and they
03:31saw it was on fire but when the firefighters arrived it vanished. People reported seeing the Baron's wife
03:40ghost roaming around in the neglected garden of the palace.
03:44In 2017 the Egyptian government claimed the palace and turned it into a tourist attraction site in 2020
03:56which still remains to the day and it's open for people to visit but only in the early morning hours
04:05and under heavy guarding by the Egyptian army.
04:08So what do you think? Was it the demonic ritual by Sylvia and Anne the reason why this palace was haunted?
04:21And do you think it is still haunted?
