00:00For those of you eagerly anticipating the next installment in The Adventures of
00:03James Bond, we have news, but still no title. In a special announcement on Thursday,
00:07producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, together with director Carrie
00:11Fukunaga, revealed who would be joining Daniel Craig in his fifth and final 007
00:15outing, which for now is still being referred to as Bond 25.
00:18Oscar winner Rami Malek is now officially being confirmed as the film's main villain,
00:22while Lea Seydoux will reprise her role as Dr. Madeleine Swan from the previous
00:26Bond outing Spectre. Ben Whishaw will return as Q, Ralph Fiennes as M, and Naomi Harris
00:32as Miss Moneypenny. Also returning from Spectre is Rory Kinnear, while Jeffrey Wright,
00:36who was last seen in 2008's Quantum of Solace, will also make a comeback.
00:40Newcomers to the franchise include Ana Diamas, Billy Magnusson, Dali Bensalas,
00:45Tashana Lynch and David Densik. In lieu of being given a title, with Wilson claiming
00:51that keeping it a secret is a tradition, fans were treated instead to some details of
00:54the plot, which sees Bond having left actor's service to enjoy tranquil life in Jamaica.
00:58Of course, his piece is short-lived when he gets pulled into a mission to rescue a
01:02kidnapped scientist, leading him onto the trail of a mysterious villain, played by Malek,
01:06armed with dangerous new technology. While Malek was not in attendance at the
01:10press conference, which occurred via a live stream from Jamaica instead of being
01:13held at Pinewood Studios, he was able to record a message in New York in which he said,
01:17I promise you all I will be making sure Mr. Bond does not have an easy ride of it
01:21in this, his 25th outing.
01:23Now, while Bond himself is no stranger to overcoming obstacles, the film has certainly
01:26seen more than its fair share since its inception. Trainspotting director Danny Boyle
01:31was originally set to direct from a script he had written with his long-standing
01:34collaborator John Hodge. But they parted ways with producer E.ON over creative
01:38differences and Fukunaga was announced in late 2018, with regular Bond writers
01:42Neil Purvis and Robert Wade having returned to the team, later joined by the Bourne
01:46ultimatum Scott Z. Burns. Last month it was reported that Killing Eve creator
01:50Phoebe Waller-Bridge had been brought on board to liven up the script and her
01:53involvement was confirmed by Wilson during the press conference. The various changes
01:57have seen the release of the film, which has already begun some pre-production
02:00work in Italy, Norway and Jamaica and at its regular base at Pinewood, get
02:04pushed back several times from late 2019 to February 2020 and now April 2020.
