00:00The Tekashi 6ix9ine sentencing is underway, and we've got details.
00:07Hey guys, it's Ali for Hollywood Life with a special 6ix9ine update as his sentencing is currently underway.
00:13Recall earlier this week, headlines spread that all charges against Tekashi would be dropped and he would be set free today.
00:19These allegedly started from the Instagram account Lawyers for Workers being misquoted.
00:24Here is what he said to clarify things.
00:26All charges against Tekashi 6ix9ine dropped and he's getting out in 72 hours.
00:30That's fake news. That's the latest piece of fake news making its rounds on the internet.
00:34And it's kind of crazy because all of these sites that are reporting it are basing it on a website called OnSmash.
00:39And OnSmash is reporting based on my video, which doesn't say that.
00:43My video says that there's guidelines. The guidelines in this case recommend 37 years.
00:48But the government has the right to give the court the power to go below the guidelines.
00:53The government has done that. The court can go below the guidelines.
00:56They can give whatever sentence they want, basically.
00:58And what the court does is they never, ever, except in very rare circumstances, give a sentence over more than what the government is recommending.
01:07So here, the government recommends time served.
01:10The court is most likely going to give time served.
01:12But all these sites reporting that there's some agreement and it's confirmed, fake news, clickbait, per usual.
01:18We also told you about reports that the rapper was incredibly nervous about his sentencing hearing today.
01:24TMZ said based on the charges he's already pled guilty to, Takashi faces a minimum of 47 years in prison.
01:30However, the rapper and around 30 others close to him wrote letters to the judge begging for mercy with hopes that this sentence won't be that long.
01:37Adding to this, TMZ reports two victims from the incident at Rap-A-Lot Records also wrote a letter to the judge saying Takashi should remain behind bars and suffer like those impacted by the crimes he helped commit.
01:49One of the victims said the incident, quote,
01:51The victim ends his letter with,
02:03But okay, let's talk about the weird part about all of this. People are placing bets on the sentencing.
02:12According to TMZ, oddmakers don't expect 6ix9ine to get out anytime in 2020.
02:16They have the betting line for his sentence set at five and a half years and oddmakers also think it's likely he'll cry at some point.
02:24And as of this recording, Inner City Press reports Judge Engelmeyer is not setting Takashi free today.
