00:00I don't know if a lot of you know this, but last, yesterday, five years to the day, Paul Heyman took over as Booker of ECW.
00:19Good evening and welcome to Extreme Championship Wrestling.
00:22I'm Joey Stiles at the infamous ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
00:27where Tommy Dreamer is discussing with the fans the Sandman's departure from ECW.
00:35He took it from the late, great Eddie Gilbert, and he did a hell of a job here.
00:41Thomas Edward Gilbert Jr., professionally known as Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert,
00:45was producer and talent coordinator for ECW, then Eastern Championship Wrestling,
00:51for approximately five months back in 1993.
00:54And everything was funded by Todd Gordon, and he deserves the respect,
01:01because he started a lot of this with his own personal money.
01:04Todd Gordon was the founder of Eastern Championship Wrestling.
01:07It followed the demise of the Tri-State Wrestling promotion.
01:10When I first came here, there were no bleachers.
01:12There was about four chairs.
01:14And each and every time we came back here, you people told a friend,
01:18and we built something here that was started, and now we're going to the top.
01:28Tommy Dreamer debuted in ECW on October 1, 1993,
01:32and has been with the company ever since he epitomizes a team player.
01:36Oddly enough, his debut matchup was against, of all people, Ted.
01:40And we are recording this historic ECW moment as it happens live to videotape here in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
01:48We are a locker room full of guys, past and present,
01:52who each and every time, it doesn't matter if it was in the gym forums or on a pay-per-view,
01:59we bust our ass for you people every single time ECW is somewhere in the United States.
02:06And a lot of us, we might have our egos, this, that, and the other thing.
02:17But let me tell you something.
02:18A guy like Shane Douglas is coming back tonight.
02:21He shouldn't be in the ring, but he wants to give it 100%

03:40James Fullington, professionally known as the Sandman,
03:42opted to sign with World Championship Wrestling
03:45when his ECW contract expired after Heat Wave 98.
03:50For five years, he came out here,
03:52and you applauded his entrance.
03:54He gave you his body.
03:56He got his ass kicked,
03:58and he truly was the founder of ECW,
04:01and I want to give him the send-off
04:06that he truly deserves.
04:08The Sandman is a former three-time ECW World Heavyweight Champion,
04:36a feat equaled only by that of the franchise Shane Douglas,
04:39the current World Heavyweight Champion.
04:41Each and every one of you people
04:42keep supporting this product.
