Melanie's 17-year-old autistic daughter Jenny is a senior in high school and looking forward to college. After a bad experience her junior year, Jenny is not interested in attending her final Christmas dance before graduating. Melanie decides to surprise Jenny by getting involved in the school's planning committee to create a welcoming dance for all students. Meanwhile, Jenny and her friends secretly plan their own party, in part to honor Melanie. Melanie works with Jenny's literature teacher on the dance and starts to fall for him while Jenny develops something special with a new classmate at school. When their secrets snowball, however, their plans begin to drive a wedge between the usually tightknit mother and daughter at the holidays.

00:00:15Another year older, another year gone
00:00:21Still get a stack and still hang mistletoe
00:00:28We're all getting older, oh where does time go?
00:00:37I still feel like a kid at Christmas
00:00:42Still got wishes on my wishlist
00:00:49With friends old and new, if I believe then it's still true
00:00:56I still feel like a kid at Christmas with you
00:01:05Ready
00:01:09You look magnificent
00:01:14I know
00:01:16Christmas dance, here we come
00:01:19Wait, oh weather check, of course
00:01:22Still safe, no snow
00:01:25Let's go
00:01:28Oh your headphones, I forgot them in the car
00:01:41I'm fine
00:01:43Yeah, it could get louder
00:01:45Come on
00:01:45Oh
00:01:46Okay, now put on a happy face
00:01:52Don't worry about me
00:01:54This is your night
00:01:56I'm great
00:01:58I'm great too
00:01:59Bye
00:02:01Bye
00:02:02Guess I'll just, uh, chaperone the snacks
00:02:09You, uh, need any help with that?
00:02:14Hi Melanie
00:02:15Hi Mr. Hartman
00:02:17Please, call me Daniel
00:02:19Jenny is a fantastic student
00:02:21Jenny talks about you all the time
00:02:23She's my favorite student
00:02:25But don't tell anyone I said that
00:02:27I won't
00:02:27Well, around here anyway
00:02:30You really are her favorite teacher
00:02:33Thank you
00:02:34And you can tell everyone that
00:02:36I do
00:02:37It's important for her to have a teacher that really appreciates her
00:02:43But who wouldn't appreciate her?
00:02:45A lot of people
00:02:46They don't mean to
00:02:47They mean well
00:02:48But when they find out that she's autistic
00:02:50They either expect nothing of her
00:02:51Or they think she's a savant
00:02:53Well, no judgment here
00:02:56I think she's great
00:02:58She is
00:03:04Is that snow?
00:03:24Jenny?
00:03:26Is everything okay?
00:03:27No
00:03:27Just the sound
00:03:29The snow
00:03:30I should have insisted she wear her headphones
00:03:32Can I help you?
00:03:33No, I just
00:03:34She needs me right now
00:03:35I've got to find her
00:03:36Jenny?
00:03:43Jenny?
00:03:45Jenny?
00:03:45Jenny?
00:03:53Are you okay?
00:03:56The snow
00:03:56I should have seen that coming
00:03:59I'm sorry
00:04:01Come here
00:04:04Can we go home?
00:04:11Yep
00:04:12Let's go
00:04:14Come on
00:04:15Hey
00:04:33What you working on?
00:04:35College applications
00:04:36My little girl
00:04:38That my little girl
00:04:40Is a senior
00:04:42I have been
00:04:43For four months
00:04:44Yes
00:04:44That's very true
00:04:46So where are you thinking?
00:04:50I want to go to Hollinger
00:04:51Hollinger?
00:04:53Like California?
00:04:55They have the best literature program
00:04:57Yeah
00:04:58Yeah
00:04:59They
00:04:59Of course
00:05:00But it's in California
00:05:04It's okay
00:05:09You know
00:05:09We'll think about it
00:05:10Okay?
00:05:15The holiday dance is coming up soon
00:05:17Do you want to go shopping
00:05:19And get a new dress?
00:05:21No thanks
00:05:22You want to go to the dance
00:05:25Though, right?
00:05:33Two roads diverged
00:05:35In a yellow wood
00:05:36And sorry
00:05:37I could not travel both
00:05:38And be one traveler
00:05:39Long I stood
00:05:41And look down one
00:05:42As far as I could
00:05:44And then Frost finishes triumphantly
00:05:47With two roads diverged
00:05:49In a wood
00:05:49And I
00:05:50I took the one
00:05:51Less traveled by
00:05:52And that made all the difference
00:05:55You see
00:05:58This is what great poetry can do
00:06:00Yes
00:06:00Yes
00:06:00It makes you think
00:06:01But more
00:06:02It inspires you to feel
00:06:04So
00:06:08What do you feel?
00:06:14Jenny
00:06:16I feel
00:06:19Excited
00:06:20I get to
00:06:22Choose my road
00:06:23I get to
00:06:25Choose my life
00:06:26Very good
00:06:27And very true
00:06:29This is something
00:06:30I wish we'd all remember
00:06:31More often
00:06:32So
00:06:33Let these great words
00:06:34Inspire us today
00:06:35And every day
00:06:37Oh
00:06:38And for tomorrow
00:06:39Please read the chapter
00:06:40On Edgar Allan Poe
00:06:41Or you shall receive
00:06:41Good grades
00:06:42Nevermore
00:06:43Nice work today Jenny
00:06:48I love the poem
00:06:50Great words can inspire us
00:06:52They inspired me
00:06:53Me too
00:06:54Hey
00:06:56Is that a Hollinger crest?
00:06:59You know
00:06:59My sister studied there
00:07:00Not exactly sure
00:07:03It'll be possible
00:07:04It's far away
00:07:06But they have an amazing
00:07:07Lit program there
00:07:08I know
00:07:09And you are
00:07:11An amazing lit student
00:07:12I know
00:07:12Good
00:07:14Well
00:07:15I'd be happy
00:07:16To write a recommendation
00:07:17I mean
00:07:18Have a good afternoon
00:07:21I just don't get it
00:07:25Could you pick a college
00:07:26Further from home?
00:07:27Maybe she just wants
00:07:28To spread her wings
00:07:30Uh here you go
00:07:31The volume should work
00:07:32On those ones
00:07:33You know
00:07:34Try something new
00:07:35Isn't that why
00:07:37You started
00:07:37The possible center?
00:07:39To show
00:07:40Neurodiverse teens
00:07:42The breadth
00:07:42Of their possibilities
00:07:43Thanks Vicky
00:07:45I have read
00:07:46Our mission statement
00:07:46I think I wrote it
00:07:49But couldn't she just
00:07:51Spread her wings
00:07:51A little closer to home
00:07:52Look she is not
00:07:54Trying to leave you
00:07:56I know
00:07:56It is okay
00:07:58To be sad
00:07:59Even at Christmas time
00:08:00It's okay to be mad
00:08:02About the divorce
00:08:04To long for the past
00:08:06Worry about the future
00:08:08Thank you
00:08:09But this isn't about me
00:08:11This is about Jenny
00:08:12Maybe it's the weather
00:08:15There's no falling snow
00:08:17In Southern California
00:08:18She's still afraid
00:08:20Of the falling snow?
00:08:21It was bad before
00:08:22But ever since the downs
00:08:23It's gotten worse
00:08:25Oh
00:08:35I'm so sorry
00:08:37No no I'm sorry
00:08:38I must have been
00:08:39A little too focused
00:08:40On my handiwork
00:08:42Apparently
00:08:43It's good to see you Melanie
00:08:45Nice to see you too
00:08:46Mr. Hartman
00:08:47Daniel
00:08:48Right
00:08:48Anyway
00:08:52I know the dance
00:08:53Didn't go really well
00:08:55For you and Jenny
00:08:56Last year
00:08:56And I just wanted you
00:08:57To know if there's
00:08:57Anything that I could do
00:08:58To help make it better
00:08:59Just let me know
00:09:01You could run
00:09:02For PTA president
00:09:03No
00:09:04That is Miss Foy
00:09:06And she'd wipe
00:09:07The floor with me
00:09:07But honestly
00:09:09I know they started
00:09:11Planning
00:09:12So I think they meet
00:09:13Every Friday afternoon
00:09:13And if you wanted to
00:09:14Maybe we could
00:09:15It's okay
00:09:16I've
00:09:16I've got it
00:09:18But thank you
00:09:19Of course
00:09:20Yeah
00:09:20Hey
00:09:21Poster looks great
00:09:22Thank you
00:09:23Bye Mr. Hartman
00:09:25Bye Jenny
00:09:26Bye
00:09:27Jenny
00:09:29You okay?
00:09:34Jenny
00:09:38Hey I was spinning
00:09:44Hey I was talking
00:09:46Why are we talking?
00:09:49Are you seriously
00:09:50Considering not going
00:09:51To the Christmas dance
00:09:52This year?
00:09:54I don't want to go
00:09:55It's your last winter formal
00:09:57So?
00:09:59So?
00:10:00So the Christmas dance
00:10:01Has always been
00:10:02A great way for us
00:10:03To lift my
00:10:04Winter blues
00:10:05I know
00:10:06But they are your blues
00:10:08Not mine
00:10:09Good
00:10:09But we love
00:10:11Christmas
00:10:12And the dance
00:10:14Has always been
00:10:15A great way
00:10:15To celebrate that
00:10:16With everyone
00:10:17I know
00:10:18Is this why
00:10:21You want to go
00:10:21To California?
00:10:23There's too many
00:10:24Bad associations here
00:10:26Or are you still
00:10:28Feeling stuck
00:10:28About the dance
00:10:29Last year?
00:10:29No
00:10:30Jenny you have
00:10:32To understand
00:10:33That if you
00:10:33Can't handle
00:10:35A dance
00:10:35I can't
00:10:37In good
00:10:38Conscience
00:10:39Send you to a school
00:10:40That's halfway
00:10:40Across the country
00:10:41Mom can we not
00:10:42Talk about this
00:10:42Right now?
00:10:47I don't want to
00:11:17and then she just cut me out can you believe that well yeah she's a teenager i suppose for
00:11:32a couple more years anyway that's her last opportunity to go to the dance you know this is
00:11:40a memory that she'll have for the rest of her life and and she won't have it if she never has
00:11:47the experience i get it you just wanted to be happy the dance makes my mom happy but i messed it up
00:11:54you didn't mess anything up i don't want my mom to be sad then go to the dance i do not want to go
00:12:02you don't have to if you don't want to we can just all hang out together instead do our own thing
00:12:09you mean have our own dance
00:12:13yeah i mean we we can have our own dance a different dance with anyone who wants to do
00:12:22that with us then i can go and my mom can go too what will it have no loud music i love loud music
00:12:30but what else uh no strobing lights yeah and no falling snow no falling snow
00:12:35we can invite whoever we want like cute boys meet at lunch to plan yes we're going to organize a dance
00:12:45wait i want it to be a secret for my mom though so it'll just be our secret our secret
00:12:53i just i want her to have a great senior year i know and the best christmas ever of course you do
00:13:06and i want her final holiday dance to be joyful well then give her a dance that brings her joy
00:13:13what well it's quite simple use the skills that you've acquired here to make accommodations at the
00:13:19dance you think i can do that i am quite sure that you can okay well where would i start
00:13:25join the pta me on the pta
00:13:28they are meeting tomorrow well then you can email the chair i'm sure that their email is on the school's
00:13:39website okay yeah i'll i'll do that tonight good tonight wait you want me to do it right now
00:13:45i'm waiting okay okay i'm gonna do it okay what's wrong nothing i just i i want this to be a surprise
00:13:56for jenny keep it between us deal
00:14:00got any plans for today
00:14:09want to tell me about it no do you have big plans no no nothing at all nothing out of the
00:14:20ordinary that's good yeah it is good good yeah good shall we go
00:14:29wait weather check currently 39 degrees and sunny skies no snow perfect
00:14:37what's the problem new kid
00:14:50can't speak no come on answer me if you can why are you being mean
00:15:00let's go
00:15:09you okay
00:15:12who's the new boy he's cute do you know him jenny
00:15:26earth to jenny oh um no never seen him before anyways the dance lots to discuss
00:15:37the mission of the possible center has always been to empower individuals no matter their
00:15:44abilities to achieve their dreams and no matter how ambitious um and and also we have adults
00:15:50on the spectrum that work here will is going to love this place there was nothing like this
00:15:56in our old town oh there was nothing like this here for kids there's tons of resources but
00:16:01once they become teenagers few and far between much too few and way too far exactly i saw a need
00:16:09uh so i i quit my job then along with my friend vicky 15 years later here we are it's very impressive
00:16:18yes i understand these things happen good news right sure good news is you have the weekend off
00:16:26they had to cancel we had a field trip planned and and the kids were really looking forward to it
00:16:32oh that's too bad it's okay you know what we'll we'll figure something out after all this is the
00:16:37possible center where anything is possible except a field trip this weekend you know the reason we
00:16:45moved here is because my husband and i are taking over my dad's property it's a stunning location
00:16:50there is a christmas tree farm and a santa's village of course we do events and weddings but
00:16:57it's a great place for a field trip as i said anything is possible that is incredibly gracious of
00:17:03you oh some meeting room in the back we could go to it's pretty private okay okay that's my daughter
00:17:09jenny jenny uh this is mrs hawkins her son will is joining the possible center uh they're new in town
00:17:15um what are you guys up to uh nothing really uh just a project it's funny i asked will to meet
00:17:25me here after school too good to have everyone connect for the big field trip day yeah yes
00:17:29yeah
00:17:41sorry it takes him time to warm up to people to talk you don't have to say sorry we don't apologize here
00:17:52here we understand thank you this place is beyond words it must keep you very busy it does especially
00:18:02lately
00:18:12we do want everyone to have a good time at the dance but we also want it to be well a good time
00:18:25oh absolutely i mean but that's that's all that i want i'm i'm only asking that the holiday ball be
00:18:30made more accessible for students on the spectrum accessible well yeah just as we've made the school
00:18:37accessible for people physically we would make the dance accessible for everyone's emotional well-being too
00:18:43well how would we do that most different for each individual generally lower volume of music
00:18:50scheduled breaks we could do away with strobe lights but the kids love strobe lights
00:18:58i am really not trying to take away from everyone's enjoyment i'm only asking that we
00:19:03we ensure that these special experiences be available to every student isn't that what we
00:19:10all want for our children we certainly do it's just sounds like a whole lot that would need to
00:19:16be done and the dance is only nine days away and we need someone to chair that and the whole committee
00:19:21has their hands full what if i put together a proposal for you to approve we even need a faculty
00:19:26liaison and with finals underway they're all overloaded as it is if only you had come to
00:19:32us with this sooner if only i'll do it
00:19:39apologies for my tardiness but i did overhear what miss austin was suggesting and i'd be happy to be
00:19:44her faculty liaison you would yeah great you two are officially the accessibility team all in favor
00:19:53so i guess we should figure out how we're gonna do this you didn't say that you're on the pta oh i
00:20:04said i wasn't running for president of the pta i'm not okay so what's next i will work up a plan
00:20:12and show it to you for the official stamp of approval i don't want to just be a token stamp of approval
00:20:17though i don't even own a stamp no i i want to help i want to actually help make this happen
00:20:24i appreciate that but this isn't something that can just be dreamed up
00:20:29i've spent jenny's life learning how to do this you know a song that's too loud a light that's too bright
00:20:38unexpected snow one wrong move and and this can all be for nothing i get that i do and i've spent
00:20:46my whole career as a teacher making sure that my students can be their best selves right isn't that
00:20:52what your dance is about so this weekend oh i can't this weekend the center is going on a field trip to
00:21:02a christmas tree farm oh yeah now that sounds like a terrible place to plan a christmas dance i'll
00:21:08join oh did i invite you i don't know did you okay okay uh um but can we please keep the planning of
00:21:21this a secret i really want it to be a surprise for jenny okay thank you
00:21:32you know and then he just invited himself can you believe that oh that he wants to help yeah
00:21:41scoundrel i don't need his help i have a vicky yeah well i need help so that's why you have a
00:21:47Daniel plus jenny she loves him so he can't be all that bad wait no i never said that he was all that
00:21:53bad he inspires jenny to write and he is a very good teacher well he's not just a teacher he's a
00:22:02accomplished poet i've read his work it's beautiful stuff that's so cool
00:22:08trans kids oh hey everyone okay you are all free to explore oh and the hawkins have generously
00:22:18offered for each of you to pick your very own tree and bring it home for the holidays so please
00:22:23let's all remember to thank them on our way out okay yeah explore have fun sounds good yeah okay
00:22:30hey daniel hey do you lose points for tardiness oh in school i'm prompt but when that bell rings rebel
00:22:41i'm um gonna go help him find the tree okay see you see you later thank you for for coming i'm sorry if i was
00:22:52hi mr hartman why are you here well i heard so much about what your mom was doing with the possible
00:23:00center so i wanted to come in and see what this is all about she created the whole thing i'm sure she
00:23:07did okay well i'm glad you're here and i liked reading edgar allen poe never more never more
00:23:16jenny come on all right let's go well at least someone's glad i'm here she sure is
00:23:25you know i actually do need a christmas tree myself do you think they sell one around here follow me
00:23:34solid technique you got there well i've cut my fair share of christmas trees apparently so
00:23:41uh it's just so beautiful around here don't you love this time of year yeah
00:23:51oh i'm sorry sore subject it's just ever since the divorce this time of year can be tough
00:24:02i have a name for it i call it the winter blues
00:24:04is jenny's father still in the picture yeah yeah he's still in her life um he lives about an hour
00:24:12away she'll spend new year's with him and you'll miss her every single day she's gone i'm sure

00:32:08Sleep tight, Miss Austin.
00:32:11It's my dreams, Mr. Hartman.
00:32:16It's my dreams, Mr. Hartman.
00:32:25It's play bells ringing in the snow, leading me back home.
00:32:31It's evergreen to mistletoe, and I'm the one below.
00:32:36I feel so good this holiday.
00:32:39My spirit's high.
00:32:41I want to make you feel the same.
00:32:45I want to give a little joy.
00:32:47Spread your cheer.
00:32:48I want to give a little joy.
00:32:49It's time of year.
00:32:51I want to give a little love and life through tears.
00:32:54I love that one cozy feeling.
00:32:57I want to give a little joy.
00:32:58I want to give a little joy.
00:32:59I want to give a little joy.
00:33:00It's all we need.
00:33:02I want to give a little love and life through tears.
00:33:05Love, magic, grand all your wishes.
00:33:08I want to give a little joy.
00:33:09I want to give a little joy.
00:33:10I want to give a little joy.
00:33:11I want to give a little joy to your world this Christmas.
00:33:15Hi.
00:33:16Hey, Jenny.
00:33:17Hey, gang.
00:33:18You doing some Christmas shopping?
00:33:20Christmas selling.
00:33:21Oh, like what?
00:33:23When fear sets in, I get to choose to smile away the winter blues.
00:33:32Christmas love so pure and bright.
00:33:35The season fills my heart with light.
00:33:38Did you write this, Jenny?
00:33:40Yes, after you read the poem in class.
00:33:43It's beautiful.
00:33:44It's for sale.
00:33:46Five dollars.
00:33:47Ten dollars.
00:33:48I mean, hey, even at that price, it's still a bargain.
00:33:51There you go.
00:33:52Thanks.
00:33:53Every day.
00:33:54Ten dollars.
00:33:55Four days till the dance.
00:34:02Daniel Hartman, reporting for Didi.
00:34:05Thank you for coming.
00:34:06There is lots to sell and lots to buy.
00:34:09Come on.
00:34:10Great.
00:34:11Like what?
00:34:13Oh, just, you know, something that will help the PTA pass the proposal.
00:34:18Are you talking about bribing PTA President Foy?
00:34:22Miss Austin?
00:34:23That is scandalous.
00:34:24No.
00:34:25No.
00:34:26Not yet, anyway.
00:34:27You know, just things that will help sell the idea.
00:34:31Merry Christmas.
00:34:33Thank you, Liam.
00:34:34Thank you, Liam.
00:34:35I love it.
00:34:36Aw.
00:34:39Um, you know, like decorations that don't flash or no falling snow.
00:34:44Jenny does not like falling snow.
00:34:46Can I ask?
00:34:47Can I ask?
00:34:48You know what?
00:34:49Forget it.
00:34:50I am here to help, not pry.
00:34:52When Jenny was a little girl, we were driving and it started to snow and I hit a patch of ice.
00:34:58My car got stuck.
00:34:59I called a tow truck when I was talking to the tow truck driver.
00:35:04Jenny got out of the car and wandered off and I didn't see.
00:35:07Yeah, you must have been terrified.
00:35:09But when I finally found her, I mean, she was shaken, but she seemed fine.
00:35:16But then the next time that it snowed, and then the time of the dance, it just triggered her and it made it so much worse.
00:35:28And she still doesn't want to talk about it.
00:35:33I'm sorry.
00:35:35Communicating can be really tough at times.
00:35:40Jenny and I are definitely not communicating lately.
00:35:43Uh, hence the secret dance planning.
00:35:47I'm not trying to micromanage her.
00:35:49I'm just trying to help her create a clear path for success.
00:35:53Why are you giving me those judgmental teacher eyes?
00:35:58Oh, it's not judgmental, it's...
00:36:01It's admiration.
00:36:04You do so much for Jenny, so much out of so much love for her.
00:36:09That's all.
00:36:14Thanks so much, and happy holidays.
00:36:17We're almost sold out of Christmas cards.
00:36:20With this much money, we could buy a place to have the dance.
00:36:24A few more million cards, maybe.
00:36:26We're doing it.
00:36:27Will, we're really doing it.
00:36:31Will?
00:36:35We are.
00:36:36But, uh, we're gonna need to sell a lot more to pay for everything that we want at the dance.
00:36:40Well, what if we make more cards?
00:36:42I don't think it's gonna cut it.
00:36:44Then what are we gonna do?
00:36:47What can we do?
00:36:50Trees.
00:36:55Um...
00:36:57I could ask my parents to sell trees.
00:37:01For the dance.
00:37:03You would do that for me?
00:37:08Will!
00:37:10Why don't you show Jenny around?
00:37:11Seems like there's a lot of fun stuff to see here.
00:37:14If you want...
00:37:16I would like to go explore with you.
00:37:19We don't have to.
00:37:21But I would like it.
00:37:22I built a train layout.
00:37:25Do you wanna see?
00:37:27I would love to see it.
00:37:30Okay.
00:37:31These are good.
00:37:36Yeah.
00:37:37No, no, don't...
00:37:38No, no, no. You have to model them for all your new customers.
00:37:40How do I look?
00:37:42Dashing.
00:37:44Was that a reindeer joke?
00:37:45Maybe.
00:37:47I think you should stick to teaching.
00:37:48Hey, no, no, no. Keep them on.
00:37:50Block out the rest of my bad jokes.
00:37:55Have you ever heard of silent disco?
00:37:58Yeah.
00:37:59It's where people wear headphones and dance.
00:38:03Yeah.
00:38:05We could buy glowing headphones and we could decorate them for Christmas with antler ears and...
00:38:10Elf ears.
00:38:11Yes.
00:38:12Oh, this is practical and festive.
00:38:16I love it.
00:38:17We could just, you know, get our own headphones and make one for each PTA member and decorate it and give them proof of concept.
00:38:23Hey, we could use my classroom, do like a Santa's workshop.
00:38:26That sounds fun.
00:38:27Yeah.
00:38:28I could bring art supplies.
00:38:29I'll bring the pizza.
00:38:34This is the Hudson J-Class 484 steam locomotive.
00:38:45The 484 means that it has four lead wheels, eight driving wheels and four trailing wheels.
00:38:49It has an extra large boiler and a huge firebox.
00:38:52It weighs almost half a million pounds and it can pull up to 18 cars.
00:38:55Right now we have four, but it can pull almost the entire...
00:38:58I'm talking too much.
00:39:04Maybe.
00:39:06Sorry.
00:39:08I talk a lot when I'm excited about something.
00:39:11I'm really excited about trains.
00:39:15I noticed.
00:39:18You said you were happy to listen?
00:39:20I am.
00:39:21Maybe we can take a five minute break?
00:39:26Yes, please.
00:39:27Okay.
00:39:35You built that yourself?
00:39:37Yes.
00:39:38With my dad.
00:39:40Will you build one for the dance?
00:39:43Yes.
00:39:44Why don't you like to talk sometimes?
00:39:57Is it because you get scared?
00:40:00Sometimes.
00:40:04Sometimes I just don't want to talk.
00:40:07That's okay.
00:40:08And it's okay to get scared.
00:40:10I get scared sometimes too.
00:40:14What makes you scared?
00:40:21Do you want to talk about it?
00:40:26Now look who's not talking.
00:40:44Oh, there is your lunch kit.
00:40:51I forgot to make your lunch last night.
00:40:53I got up early and packed it already.
00:40:56You did?
00:40:57Good for you.
00:41:02Mom?
00:41:03Yeah?
00:41:04Do you ever worry you're making the wrong choices?
00:41:07Because you're scared what other people might say?
00:41:09Yeah.
00:41:12I mean, I think we all do.
00:41:15Then what do you do?
00:41:17I try to remember that it doesn't matter what other people say.
00:41:21And that I try to do what I think is right.
00:41:25To follow my own instincts.
00:41:28Like you should follow your own instincts.
00:41:30You trust my instincts?
00:41:31You trust my instincts?
00:41:37One hundred percent.
00:41:45As freezing persons recollect the snow, first chill, then stupor, and then the letting go.
00:41:52Ladies and gentlemen, Emily Dickinson.
00:41:57Oh, and just a reminder, your term papers are due by at the end of the week.
00:42:00No extensions.
00:42:01Get them in on time or you get lumps of coal and an F.
00:42:05Watch it there.
00:42:06Watch it there.
00:42:11I like that poem a lot.
00:42:13Right?
00:42:14Great words can have all the power in the world and set at the right time.
00:42:18Remember when you said you would help with my college applications?
00:42:22Yeah, absolutely.
00:42:24Would you write my recommendation letter?
00:42:26Of course.
00:42:28Did you decide on a school already?
00:42:30Hollinger.
00:42:31Wow, nice.
00:42:33What does your mom think about you going there?
00:42:34She told me to trust my instincts.
00:42:38Well then, all right.
00:42:39I'll get you that recommendation by today.
00:42:41Thanks.
00:42:43Yeah.
00:42:44Bye, Jenny.
00:42:46Okay, the good news first or the bad?
00:42:49Good.
00:42:50I managed to score us a foosball table from that party rental place,
00:42:53thanks to Will's parents helping us raise more money.
00:42:56I also picked up a bunch of decorations and some supplies.
00:42:59Amazing.
00:43:00What's the bad news?
00:43:02We don't have a venue.
00:43:03What about the community center?
00:43:04It's booked up.
00:43:06What about the possible center?
00:43:07No, that would ruin the surprise for my mom.
00:43:12Oh no.
00:43:13Now what?
00:43:16Um...
00:43:18I have an idea.
00:43:20I can show you if you want.
00:43:22Yes.
00:43:23Okay.
00:43:24Here we go.
00:43:28Here it is.
00:43:29We can use this?
00:43:30My parents said yes, as long as we decorated ourselves.
00:43:33And clean up.
00:43:34I'm a great organizer, so that shouldn't be too hard.
00:43:35Oh.
00:43:36Okay, maybe it's a little hard.
00:43:37Yeah.
00:43:38We'll need Bella and Caitlin to help.
00:43:39Tomorrow?
00:43:40Tomorrow.
00:43:41Tomorrow.
00:43:42Tomorrow.
00:43:43You know you can talk to me, right?
00:43:44Yeah.
00:43:45I know.
00:43:46I know.
00:43:47I do.
00:43:48I mean when you get scared too.
00:43:49You can talk to me.
00:43:50I mean when you get scared too.
00:43:51You can talk to me, right?
00:43:53I know.
00:43:54Okay.
00:43:55Well, it's a nice, baby.
00:43:56And I know.
00:43:57I can talk to my dad.
00:43:58That's crazy.
00:43:59I know.
00:44:00It's a nice job.
00:44:01Did you get bored?
00:44:03You could go out later.
00:44:04I don't know.
00:44:05You were about to go over the rest of the life.
00:44:06Now.
00:44:07You can talk to me, right?
00:44:08Yeah.
00:44:09I mean when you get scared too, you can talk to me?
00:44:10I know.
00:44:11I know.
00:44:12right? I know. I do. I mean, when you get scared, too, you can talk to me. Thank you.
00:44:25You don't deserve to be scared. What if I still am?
00:44:34That's when you talk to me.
00:44:35Ooh, look at you. You're a natural. Thank you. My grandfather was an elf.
00:44:45There's still some pizza left if you're hungry. Yeah.
00:44:48All right.
00:44:52So, this is where the magic happens. Where you inspire the young readers and writers of the future.
00:45:00I love it. Love it. Honestly, seeing their eyes come alive when they hear great writing, I mean,
00:45:07if I can inspire one student, just one, it's a great day.
00:45:12You inspire Jenny every day.
00:45:15What? She loves literature. I mean, I'm so happy your daughter's pursuing it. She's very talented.
00:45:22She is.
00:45:24What about you?
00:45:25Uh, what about me?
00:45:30Well, you've got all these books on so many poets, but what about your own book?
00:45:38The unflappable Daniel Hartman's been flapped.
00:45:42Maybe a little bit.
00:45:45Do you share your poems?
00:45:47I used to, I used to love slam poetry, you know, public performance of my work.
00:45:56And I, I share famous poems with my students in class, and I love it. I love it.
00:46:00But I, I always wondered if one day somebody would be reading my work to their students in class.
00:46:06You know?
00:46:07Yeah.
00:46:08And then, you know, life goes in other directions. Has other plans, right?
00:46:16Well, we are on the home stretch. We've got like, I don't know, two more glue gun burns before we have to, uh, out. Again, three.
00:46:24Um, we have to present to the PTA in like, an hour.
00:46:27In this way, not only is it a festive addition to the dance, each student can listen to the music and volume of their choosing.
00:46:36All the same fun, but with, uh, an inclusive, positive twist.
00:46:43Guys, come on. This is a fresh take, I swear. The kids are gonna love it, okay?
00:46:48Oh, it's a great idea. It's just different.
00:46:52Not bad, just, I know, I know that it is, it is different.
00:46:55But that's what makes it wonderful.
00:46:59You know, let's try something different.
00:47:02Traditions evolve.
00:47:04The school prides itself on inclusion.
00:47:07We always have.
00:47:10It's why Jenny loves it here.
00:47:17You're right.
00:47:19I'm on board.
00:47:20But you would need to lead the charge. Be my second in command.
00:47:24Absolutely.
00:47:25All in favor of making Melanie chairwoman of the dance.
00:47:28Yep.
00:47:29I love that.
00:47:30Yeah.
00:47:31Thank you all so much.
00:47:44Good night, Ed.
00:47:46Did you want anything before bed?
00:47:49No.
00:47:49Okay.
00:47:53What's that?
00:47:55Oh, uh, it's, it's just a little bedtime reading.
00:48:01Mom.
00:48:02Yeah.
00:48:04You seem happy.
00:48:07I feel happy.
00:48:10And I feel happy, too.
00:48:13Good.
00:48:13Good night, sweetheart.
00:48:16Good night.
00:48:25I'm excited for tomorrow.
00:48:28Me, too.
00:48:29So, I'm thinking that the hot chocolate cart can go right over there.
00:48:53Oh, and the party favor table will be at the main entrance with the fidget spinners and
00:48:57the headphones.
00:48:58And the main directory will have a map to the sensory room.
00:49:03Oh, and the games, we're going to put in the corner just to keep it a little bit more
00:49:06secluded.
00:49:07Okay.
00:49:08Check and check.
00:49:10Oh, but sadly, the rental company's out at the foosball table.
00:49:13What?
00:49:14Yep.
00:49:14Already rented.
00:49:15Check it out.
00:49:17I snagged the last corner side of the rental place.
00:49:19Perfect.
00:49:20And I got this.
00:49:25Oh.
00:49:25Oh.
00:49:26No.
00:49:28You okay?
00:49:31How are the e-bites coming?
00:49:32Um, I'm almost finished making the list.
00:49:34Everyone we want to invite is here.
00:49:36Great.
00:49:36And I'll send them out later tonight.
00:49:37All right, we're going to need more activities, and we're going to need more games, and in
00:49:42order for this to work, we're probably going to need more food and decorations.
00:49:46The dance is two days away.
00:49:47I don't know that we're going to pull this off.
00:49:49We'll get there, okay?
00:49:51And you're doing a great job.
00:49:54But right now, we should take a break.
00:49:57We should.
00:49:58Definitely.
00:49:59Let's get some fresh air.
00:50:01Come on.
00:50:02It'll all still be here, I promise.
00:50:06Thanks for dinner.
00:50:06You're welcome.
00:50:09This is all so beautiful here.
00:50:13She walks in beauty like the night.
00:50:16Cloudless climbs and starry skies.
00:50:18And all that's best of dark and bright meet in her aspect and her eyes.
00:50:25That was lovely.
00:50:27That was Lord Byron.
00:50:28He was a charmer.
00:50:29I read your poems.
00:50:34You should know.
00:50:36What?
00:50:38How?
00:50:39About your book.
00:50:42You are really talented.
00:50:44Come on.
00:50:44You know, I'm serious.
00:50:46They were heartfelt and honest.
00:50:51Raw.
00:50:54You should share them with the world.
00:50:56Or at least, you know, have someone do a reading of them.
00:51:02That'd be amazing.
00:51:03Maybe one day, if I can find the right reader.
00:51:11What about your dream of Paris?
00:51:14Is that still somewhere in your head?
00:51:17Sure.
00:51:18Taking a sabbatical, moving to Paris to write?
00:51:21It's a wonderful dream.
00:51:26It's just a dream.
00:51:30I love Paris, and it is a good dream.
00:51:35I mean, I would love to go there.
00:51:38Yeah, that would be, uh...
00:51:41That'd be fantastic.
00:51:44I imagine.
00:51:47You should go.
00:51:47You should apply for sabbatical and just see what happens.
00:51:52You have been inspiring your students.
00:51:55You have been inspiring Jenny since she first sat in your class.
00:51:58You inspired me to plan a dance for her.
00:52:02It's time that you were inspired to live out your dream.
00:52:07Where did the others go?
00:52:25They went home to send the Evites.
00:52:28Or to leave us alone.
00:52:32Will.
00:52:34There's something I've been scared about lately.
00:52:37Can I talk to you about it?
00:52:40Yes.
00:52:41Please.
00:52:46Um.
00:52:49It's about the dance.
00:52:51Last year it was bad.
00:52:54It started snowing, and I don't like falling snow.
00:52:57When I was younger, we got into a car accident, and I wandered off and got lost in the snow.
00:53:09And that made me scared.
00:53:14I do not like to be scared.
00:53:17That's when I don't talk.
00:53:18Then what do you do?
00:53:28Nothing.
00:53:31When I feel like talking again, I talk.
00:53:35I get to decide.
00:53:36And that makes the scary things not so scary.
00:53:48Currently, 31 degrees and snow falling in 20 minutes.
00:53:53I have to go home.
00:53:54If you're scared, we can keep talking.
00:53:56I can't.
00:53:57I can't talk.
00:53:57I have to go home.
00:54:02No.
00:54:02Stop.
00:54:04Jenny.
00:54:06I can help.
00:54:07I don't want your help.
00:54:08I have to go home.
00:54:09How do you feel?
00:54:14I know you've taken on a lot leading the charge with this all lately.
00:54:17I've come to realize that this isn't so much about a dance.
00:54:22This is more about my little girl.
00:54:24It's just growing up.
00:54:26And I want these memories for her to be joyful, you know?
00:54:30Not fearful.
00:54:33And that I can't help but have this gnawing apprehension that I'm not doing enough.
00:54:37Are you kidding me?
00:54:39I don't think I've ever seen a mother do more.
00:54:42All while juggling the possible center and your own social life.
00:54:46My social life.
00:54:48You mean my failing social life.
00:54:50But that's a whole other story.
00:54:52I don't think it's failing.
00:54:55I quite like your social life at the moment.
00:55:01I do too.
00:55:04I guess this time of the year isn't so...
00:55:06No.
00:55:09I'm sorry.
00:55:16Ow.
00:55:17Is everything okay?
00:55:22Uh...
00:55:22I'm...
00:55:28I'm sorry.
00:55:28I've...
00:55:29I've got to go.
00:55:33Jenny!
00:55:34Jenny!
00:55:35Jenny!
00:55:42Hey, sweetheart.
00:55:43You okay?
00:55:47I came as soon as it started falling.
00:55:54Where were you?
00:55:56I'm sorry that I wasn't here.
00:56:05I came back as soon as it started.
00:56:08But...
00:56:08Where were you?
00:56:14With friends.
00:56:18Okay.
00:56:20Well, I'm here now.
00:56:25Do you want to beat me in a board game?
00:56:27I want to go to bed.
00:56:32Okay.
00:56:36Good night, sweetheart.
00:56:38It was that bad, huh?
00:56:48Not what we expected to happen when we, uh, ever so subtly ditched you.
00:56:53I ran off and left him, and now he is avoiding me.
00:56:57No, no.
00:56:58I'm sure he's not that mad.
00:56:59I guess there go your chances of him being your date for the dance.
00:57:04Caitlin.
00:57:07I probably ruined it with Daniel.
00:57:09I just ran out with barely even saying goodbye.
00:57:13Hmm.
00:57:13Probably.
00:57:14Assumptions again.
00:57:16Seems like you're having trouble communicating with multiple people.
00:57:20I guess.
00:57:22So talk to Jenny.
00:57:23Talk to Daniel.
00:57:25Uh, we need to talk.
00:57:28Hey, Vicky.
00:57:28This guy's like Beetlejuice.
00:57:31Say his name three times, and he appears.
00:57:33Hi, Daniel.
00:57:39About last night.
00:57:40I am so sorry.
00:57:41What?
00:57:42No.
00:57:43No, that?
00:57:44No, that's no problem at all.
00:57:46Honestly, I understand.
00:57:47It's about the dance.
00:57:48I'm just not here.
00:57:51Is there somewhere we can go to talk?
00:57:53Uh, yeah.
00:57:55Hey, Jenny.
00:57:56Hey, um, hey, is everything all right?
00:58:00I...
00:58:01I really hate to do this to you two days in a row, but I have to go talk to my daughter.
00:58:13Yes.
00:58:14You two have a lot to sort out.
00:58:15Everything okay in here?
00:58:25You want to talk about it?
00:58:29What if there was something that you really cared about,
00:58:34but then you ruined it?
00:58:37Oh, honey, I highly doubt that you've ruined anything.
00:58:43You know, sometimes things happen and we make assumptions about them.
00:58:47And then we realize later that our assumptions were way off.
00:58:51Do you think it's possible that maybe what you think you've ruined, you haven't?
00:58:59I guess maybe not.
00:59:02The only way to know for sure is to ask the tough questions.
00:59:06Not be afraid of the answers.
00:59:09And know that you are a very good person, Jenny.
00:59:12With the best of intentions.
00:59:14And the rest will just fall into place.
00:59:21I should probably take my own advice.
00:59:24So, everything will be okay?
00:59:27I can't promise you that everything will be okay,
00:59:30but I can promise you that if things aren't,
00:59:34I will always be here.
00:59:36And I love you so much.
00:59:41Thanks, Mom.
00:59:43You feel better?
00:59:45Not all the way better.
00:59:47But better.
00:59:49Come here.
00:59:56I love you.
01:00:02I love you.
01:00:06Looking for Daniel?
01:00:13Yeah.
01:00:14Maybe.
01:00:16He just left.
01:00:17You can still catch him.
01:00:25Oh, uh, wait.
01:00:27I just wanted to, uh,
01:00:29to say thank you for helping me with everything.
01:00:34It was my pleasure.
01:00:36Would you like to have dinner?
01:00:38Are you asking me out on a date?
01:00:40Oh, uh,
01:00:41you don't have to if you don't want to.
01:00:44I'd love to.
01:00:45Okay.
01:00:46Uh, great.
01:00:46Um,
01:00:48six tonight.
01:00:49Uh,
01:00:49I'll,
01:00:49I'll send you the details.
01:00:51I have to get everything ready.
01:00:53Everything?
01:00:59Will?
01:01:00Are you here?
01:01:00Are you here?
01:01:00Are you here?
01:01:05Surprise.
01:01:09Surprise.
01:01:13Wow.
01:01:15This is so cool.
01:01:18Thanks.
01:01:19I've been working on it all day.
01:01:20I thought you were mad at me.
01:01:24Mad?
01:01:25Why?
01:01:26Because I got upset yesterday.
01:01:28No.
01:01:30You were scared.
01:01:32I'm sorry I couldn't help you be not scared,
01:01:34but I wouldn't be mad at you for that.
01:01:36Well,
01:01:39do you like me?
01:01:42Yes,
01:01:42I like you.
01:01:45Do you like me enough to be my date to the dance?
01:01:53Is that a no,
01:01:54or are you just not talking again?
01:01:56Yes.
01:02:23Entree?
01:02:25Bye.
01:02:25Wow.
01:02:30Wow, this is...
01:02:31A surprise.
01:02:32A wonderful surprise.
01:02:34My friend Maren owns it.
01:02:36Her daughter used to come to the possible center,
01:02:38and I asked her if I could turn it into Paris for the night.
01:02:41Well, it's perfect.
01:02:44To complete the lock.
01:02:46Of course.
01:02:50Well, c'est magnifique.
01:02:52How's it look?
01:02:54Perfect.
01:02:55Yeah?
01:02:55Yes.
01:02:55I love the beret, by the way.
01:02:59Um, to Paris.
01:03:02To you.
01:03:05Hmm.
01:03:07Hmm.
01:03:09I got you something.
01:03:14Okay.
01:03:15I bought it to inspire you,
01:03:18because you've inspired so many people.
01:03:23Wow.
01:03:24Melanie, this is...
01:03:32I mean, we have our own Parisian cafe.
01:03:37You know, actually, I've been thinking a lot about what you said.
01:03:41About taking a sabbatical.
01:03:43You're going to go.
01:03:43You're going to go?
01:03:44I mean, it wouldn't be until the next school year, and it's not for sure, but...
01:03:49There's a writers in residency program at the Shakespeare and Company in Paris.
01:03:55You should do it.
01:03:56I haven't decided yet.
01:03:58I haven't decided yet.
01:03:59Why wouldn't you go?
01:04:02Wow.
01:04:05Because for the first time in a long time, it feels like...
01:04:09Here is where I should really be.
01:04:11Well, Miss Austin?
01:04:20Mr. Hartman?
01:04:24I had an excellent time.
01:04:27So did I.
01:04:28And Paris was better than I could ever have imagined.
01:04:34Well, I'm no literary giant.
01:04:36No, you're something better.
01:04:40Look, I know we're both grown adults, but I was wondering if maybe you would do me the honor of being my date to the dads.
01:04:49Yes.
01:04:49Mom?
01:04:56Hi.
01:04:57You and Mr. Hartman?
01:04:59You and Will?
01:05:00Why didn't you tell me?
01:05:02I...
01:05:03There wasn't anything to tell you until a second ago.
01:05:07I'm...
01:05:08Are you mad?
01:05:09No.
01:05:11Not if you are happy.
01:05:13I am.
01:05:14And you too.
01:05:15Mr. Hartman, I should hear back from Hollinger any day now.
01:05:18That's amazing.
01:05:20I'm proud of you.
01:05:20Wait, what?
01:05:21You applied to Hollinger.
01:05:23And...
01:05:23And you knew.
01:05:26And you didn't.
01:05:27He wrote my recommendation letter.
01:05:30There's some...
01:05:31Some miscommunication here.
01:05:32I'm sorry.
01:05:33Um...
01:05:34I mean, you guys figured out how to plan two separate Christmas dances, so we could probably...
01:05:37Daniel.
01:05:39Wait, I'm...
01:05:40Two Christmas dances?
01:05:47Jenny, wait!
01:05:48It was supposed to be a surprise.
01:05:53You didn't listen to me.
01:05:54I don't want to go to the dance.
01:05:56I know, but that's why I wanted to do this.
01:05:59I...
01:05:59I...
01:05:59I wanted it to be a dance that you would want to go to.
01:06:03You never asked me what I wanted.
01:06:07Jenny, I...
01:06:08Um, Will, why don't you go and wait outside?
01:06:17I'll be out there in a second, okay?
01:06:18I'll give you a ride home.
01:06:20Yeah?
01:06:20I want to go.
01:06:21Do you know?
01:06:29The dance.
01:06:30College.
01:06:32I heard a boyfriend.
01:06:33Apparently, I don't know anything about my daughter.
01:06:37Hey, Mom, that's not true.
01:06:39No, it is true. And you know what? I should be spending time with her, not doing...
01:06:46I think you should go.
01:06:56I need to spend some time with my daughter alone.
01:07:00We'll talk soon.
01:07:09We'll talk soon.
01:07:19Aren't you gonna eat breakfast?
01:07:23Jenny.
01:07:33Now we're not talking at all, and she won't even answer my texts.
01:07:37How did we get to this?
01:07:39Oh, Mel.
01:07:43I just want her to be happy.
01:07:46Hey, I see you and Jenny together all the time.
01:07:51And she's happy.
01:07:53Especially when you're happy.
01:07:55And since you've been seeing Daniel, this is the happiest that I've seen you in a long time.
01:08:01Especially at Christmas.
01:08:03I just feel like I've ruined everything.
01:08:15And I don't have the answers.
01:08:17Then ask the questions.
01:08:25What do you want?
01:08:27What does Jenny want? Not what you want for Jenny.
01:08:31But what does Jenny want for herself?
01:08:35How do I talk to her when I don't know where she is?
01:08:37Where has she been going lately when she needed a break?
01:08:48Jenny?
01:08:54Wow.
01:09:01Jenny?
01:09:02This is beautiful.
01:09:08Hey.
01:09:10How are you?
01:09:14I needed some time to think.
01:09:16You did all of this?
01:09:19So this is the dance that you were planning.
01:09:23There's snowman cookies.
01:09:24I made them in honor of you.
01:09:27Do you like it?
01:09:30I love it.
01:09:32I am so sorry that I wasn't open with you.
01:09:36I just...
01:09:38I wanted it to be a surprise.
01:09:41I wanted to show you that I was doing enough.
01:09:44Doing enough?
01:09:46After the dance last year, I...
01:09:48I felt that I needed to do more.
01:09:52But you'd do everything for me.
01:09:56I wanted to do the dance for you, so you could be happy.
01:10:02And so that you could see I can do this.
01:10:06Why would I need to see that?
01:10:09So you won't have to worry when I go to college.
01:10:11You don't have to worry, Mom.
01:10:17I'll be okay.
01:10:23And when things aren't okay, you'll always be here.
01:10:28Loving me.
01:10:34Always.
01:10:37Always.
01:10:38Okay.
01:10:46This came for you.
01:10:48Looks like you got in.
01:10:51I want you to go.
01:10:55You've earned it.
01:11:01I'm so proud of you.
01:11:04Thanks.
01:11:08You got the foosball table?
01:11:13Well, we would have had a ping-pong table, but someone else rented it.
01:11:18That was...
01:11:19That was you.
01:11:21What are we going to do about the dance?
01:11:25What do you mean? This is amazing.
01:11:28No, your dance.
01:11:30I didn't even think about that.
01:11:32We could combine the dances.
01:11:34Right here.
01:11:35Are you sure you want to do that?
01:11:37Yes, of course.
01:11:38Okay. I will contact the BTA and see if I can get them on board.
01:11:42All right. Start making phone calls.
01:11:45Okay.
01:11:49Mr. Hartman needs that in the barn.
01:11:52Christmas decorations coming through.
01:11:55Bring that over to the DJ roof.
01:11:56Hey.
01:11:59Hey.
01:12:01Hey.
01:12:02Congratulations.
01:12:03This is really bringing everyone together.
01:12:05Oh, well, this is all Jenny, really.
01:12:09I knew you two would figure it out eventually.
01:12:11Yeah, I, uh, I don't really know how to thank you for all of your help.
01:12:17I just hung a few lights. It's...
01:12:20You've been a real support to me.
01:12:25No, I mean, the feeling goes both ways.
01:12:27If it wasn't for you, I would have never taken the sabbatical.
01:12:30You're doing it.
01:12:32Yeah, yeah. I, I put in for it.
01:12:35You know.
01:12:37I mean, like you said, it is something I need to do.
01:12:40So you'll be leaving at a...
01:12:41At the end of the school year.
01:12:42Yeah.
01:12:45I'm happy for you.
01:12:49Yeah, it'll be good.
01:12:51It'll give me some time to think, figure things out.
01:12:55You know, I guess...
01:12:57That's what everybody needs sometimes, right?
01:12:59Space?
01:13:01I guess.
01:13:06We're still gonna go to the dance together, right?
01:13:09Yeah, yeah, of course. Of course.
01:13:11Okay.
01:13:13Well, I should let you get back to this, because you're busy and these are still tangled.
01:13:18Okay.
01:13:20Yeah.
01:13:21Okay. See you later.
01:13:25You almost have everything done. It's going to work.
01:13:28Great.
01:13:30Are you okay, Mom?
01:13:32Yeah. Yes, of course.
01:13:34We gotta go home. We have a dance to get ready for.
01:13:36Okay.
01:13:38Oh.
01:13:42Happy, Happy holidays!
01:13:46Oh!
01:13:54You look magnificent.
01:13:56In the words of a young Jenny Austin.
01:13:58I know.
01:14:02Jenny!
01:14:04Come on in.
01:14:06Don't you look dapper, young man.
01:14:12Jenny!
01:14:22What do you think?
01:14:24I think...
01:14:26you're beautiful.
01:14:30I know.
01:14:36Alright, shall we go?
01:14:44Jenny, you okay?
01:14:46The snow.
01:14:48The snow.
01:15:08Jenny...
01:15:10we can talk through this.
01:15:20We can't talk away the snow.
01:15:22You are scared of the snow.
01:15:24You are scared of the snow.
01:15:30No, Will, don't go!
01:15:32Will!
01:15:34When there's moisture in the air and the atmospheric temperature drops below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, snow starts to fall.
01:15:48I do not like falling snow.
01:15:50Snow forms when water crystallizes in the air.
01:15:52But when it's colder outside, the water doesn't stick together as much.
01:15:54But when it's not as cold out, then the moisture in the water...
01:15:56Will, you are talking a lot again.
01:15:58I know.
01:16:00I talk a lot when I'm excited about something.
01:16:02You are excited about snow?
01:16:04No.
01:16:06I'm excited about you.
01:16:08I know.
01:16:10I know.
01:16:11I talk a lot when I'm excited about something.
01:16:13You are excited about snow?
01:16:17No.
01:16:22I'm excited about you.
01:16:38You're okay?
01:16:39I'm okay.
01:16:48You're okay?
01:16:49I'm okay.
01:17:08I'm excited about snow.
01:17:26Small slow type.
01:17:27Welcome to the Holiday Ball for All.
01:17:30Welcome!
01:17:32Welcome!
01:17:33Mrs. Hawkins, thanks for helping make this dance happen.

01:18:00No, I'm fine.
01:18:02Okay, no, I'm not.
01:18:03What's the problem?
01:18:08Oh, I get it.
01:18:10He's taking a sabbatical in Paris next year.
01:18:15And he wants space.
01:18:17Well, why don't you be a part of that space?
01:18:21I mean, with Jenny going out of town, you are going to have a lot of free time on your hands.
01:18:26What are you saying?
01:18:27Go to Paris, too?
01:18:29Why not?
01:18:30Because I don't know that Daniel wants me to go with him.
01:18:35If he did, he would have said something.
01:18:36Mom, you are assuming again.
01:18:39Hey.
01:18:40You do so much to make me happy.
01:18:42To make everyone at the Possible Center happy.
01:18:44But Mr. Hartman makes you happy.
01:18:47And you deserve that.
01:18:49Do you like him?
01:18:52I do.
01:18:53Tell him.
01:18:56I'm not sure how.
01:18:57Show him.
01:19:07Show him.
01:19:08This one.
01:19:09I'm not sure how.
01:19:28today has had a lot of surprises and now we have one more please welcome to the stage
01:19:35the person who helped me make this dance my mom melanie austen
01:19:41hello everyone what a beautiful night
01:19:53i would really like to acknowledge how beautiful we all are in our own unique ways
01:20:00more often than not we make assumptions that people will judge us if they get a glimpse of
01:20:08that uniqueness and those assumptions can be right people can be judgmental and so then we
01:20:17dim that beauty before we give it a chance to shine but oftentimes those assumptions
01:20:26are wrong and i would like to read a poem on that matter
01:20:31by a very talented poet assuming he's all right with it
01:20:39this poem was written by our very own daniel hartman
01:20:46a voice inside so quick to chide casting doubts both far and wide
01:21:01you're not enough it often cries planting fears and spreading lies assumptions form we start to fear
01:21:11that other eyes will sneer and jeer but listen close and you will see a strength within a bold decree
01:21:19question the thoughts that cloud your mind leave those fears and doubts behind
01:21:29for in your heart a truth so bright silence the doubt and step into the light
01:21:38i hope that you you didn't mind huh not at all i was honored
01:22:01it's a good poem you're incredible in every way
01:22:09what you've done for your daughter for the students for me
01:22:14to inspire me to go for what i want what is that mr hartman
