Lucy Hargrove is a screenwriter who lands the job of a lifetime when she's hired to pen the script for a remake of the beloved holiday movie, "His Merry Wife!". First filmed in 1946 at beautiful, historic Biltmore House, it has long been considered a Christmas classic. When the head of the studio isn't satisfied with the ending Lucy wrote because it deviates from the original's feel-good conclusion, he sends Lucy to Biltmore Estate for research and inspiration. While there, she unwittingly discovers the ability to travel to the 1947 set of "His Merry Wife!" through an hourglass. After shaking off the initial shock of this turn of events, Lucy embraces this as her chance to uncover the truth about the movie's original ending. While on set, she and Jack Huston (Kristoffer Polaha), one of the film's stars, spend time together and become close. But her sudden appearance has set off a chain of events that put the production in jeopardy. Before she can return to the present, Lucy must make things right or the future might be altered forever.

00:00:00From Balaban Films comes the laugh and love riot of the holiday season.
00:00:13William West's His Merry Wife.
00:00:17Claude Lancaster as James, a lovelorn man in need of a little Christmas magic.
00:00:24Ava Hayward as Rebecca, the woman he loves.
00:00:28And introducing Jack Huston as Charlie, a guardian angel tasked with reuniting the two.
00:00:39An angel?
00:00:40Well, that depends on you, my friend. I am here to help.
00:00:43Now, tell me, what's this about a girl?
00:00:47We were meant to be married. I fouled it up. I need a miracle to make things right again.
00:00:52Well, lucky for you, it's Christmas time and there's a miracle around every corner, pal.
00:00:56Oh, now where is this girl?
00:00:59There she is.
00:01:08Rebecca.
00:01:09Say, what kind of game are you playing?
00:01:12You've helped lost souls before, Charlie.
00:01:15But you know good and well why this time is different. She's my wife.
00:01:17Maybe in another life.
00:01:21But tonight, she's your assignment.
00:01:27A picture for the ages.
00:01:30Our gift to you.
00:01:32Our merry viewer.
00:01:33Miss Hartgrove.
00:01:45Mr. Balban will see you now.
00:01:47You've changed the ending.
00:02:09Charlie is supposed to pass up on his wings and help James get the girl.
00:02:15But instead, you have him, what, watch Rebecca as she drives out through the tall iron gates and into an uncertain future?
00:02:22Yes.
00:02:23It's real life.
00:02:24No, no, no, no, no, no.
00:02:25Leave real life for reality TV shows.
00:02:29This is a Christmas movie.
00:02:30Yes, it is.
00:02:31But I think we have a chance right now to bring his merry wife into the 21st century and give audiences something modern and something real.
00:02:39Lucy, the title has an exclamation point.
00:02:43It's like a peppermint.
00:02:45Uh, no, thank you.
00:02:46You know, every other studio passed on his merry wife.
00:02:50But my grandfather, Harold Balaban, saw the potential, knew that it had all the makings for a classic.
00:02:57Right, and I love a classic. I'm all for honoring the original version.
00:03:01Good.
00:03:01It's just that we are living in a different time period now, and I think this generation would want its own voice.
00:03:11My grandfather actually took me with him to Biltmore when he decided to visit the set.
00:03:16I had to be, I don't know, all of about seven at the time.
00:03:18I'll tell you, there's something really special about that place.
00:03:23So maybe what you need is to see it for yourself.
00:03:26Let's send you down to Asheville.
00:03:28Oh.
00:03:30Okay.
00:03:31Good. You're going tomorrow.
00:03:33Oh, well, Christmas is in a few days, so...
00:03:35That's even better. You get to see the place all lit up.
00:03:38Okay. Mr. Balaban...
00:03:40No, Michael, please.
00:03:42Michael. Michael.
00:03:44I'm just... I'm really not sure how to write something I don't believe.
00:03:49Lucy, I like you, and I think you have a lot of promise, but I also need a writer who's on the same page.
00:03:59Okay. Now, Sandy will get you all the notes, take care of your travel plans.
00:04:03You just go to Biltmore. Have a good time.
00:04:06Thanks.
00:04:06Good.
00:04:07Oh, and Lucy, Lucy.
00:04:08Yes.
00:04:09I want a happy ending, okay?
00:04:21I wish it were different.
00:04:23For a moment, you made me so very happy.
00:04:25What are you doing, James?
00:04:37Go after her.
00:04:39Wouldn't change a thing, Charlie.
00:04:42She's in love with a memory.
00:04:44I never stood a chance.
00:04:55For all of your help.
00:05:01Help?
00:05:03Is that what you gave it?
00:05:05I'm so sorry.
00:05:08I was selfish.
00:05:10Just give me another chance to try to fix it.
00:05:15I'm afraid there's no time for second chances now.
00:05:18You know the rules, Charlie.
00:05:26Christmas is almost over.
00:05:28I don't care.
00:05:30If you leave, you could forget about those wings.
00:05:33I never did like to fly.
00:05:35I never did like to fly.
00:05:40What?
00:05:40I'm invested.
00:05:42The guy spends the whole movie trying to break those two up and then suddenly has a change
00:05:46of heart in the last ten minutes.
00:05:48Yeah, it's romantic.
00:05:49It's convenient.
00:05:50Oh, you used to love this movie when we were little.
00:05:54You could practically recite it from memory.
00:05:57It's Zappy.
00:05:59He loves her and he knows it will make her happy.
00:06:02And we know that when push comes to shove, people will always choose their own happiness.
00:06:05Okay, well, that was just the cynical, tortured writer side of you.
00:06:11You know, some people really do get a happily ever after.
00:06:17So what are you going to do about your script?
00:06:20I don't know, man.
00:06:21My career's been on life support for the last three years.
00:06:24I don't know that an opportunity like this is going to come around again.
00:06:26I think I just have to figure it out.
00:06:28Do you think you're going to be back by New Year's?
00:06:30There's just somebody I want you to meet.
00:06:33No, Becca, don't...
00:06:34He's perfect for you.
00:06:35You say that every time.
00:06:37Because it's true almost every time.
00:06:40And you never, ever give these guys a chance.
00:06:42Jack Houston could walk through this door and you would find something wrong with him.
00:06:47That's not true.
00:06:49Come on, you just have to put yourself out there.
00:06:52I'm just going to spare myself the heartache.
00:06:55Hey, you deserve a really great guy who will sweep you off your feet.
00:07:01I like my feet right where they are.
00:07:03Plus, I have someone else's happiness to worry about.
00:07:05We're going to miss you this year.
00:07:09And, you know, Dad promised that he would go caroling.
00:07:13Oh, yay.
00:07:14I need a video of that.
00:07:15Okay.
00:07:15And please try to get some Christmas spirit before you're visited by three pushy ghosts.
00:07:20Never.
00:07:21Okay.
00:07:22Merry Christmas.
00:07:22Merry Christmas.
00:07:23I'll miss you.
00:07:23Call me when you're back.
00:07:24Okay.
00:07:24Okay.
00:07:34Bye.
00:07:36Humbug.
00:07:36Miss Arbroke?
00:07:57Hi.
00:07:58Welcome to the end of the Biltmore Estate.
00:08:00Lucy.
00:08:00Oh, Winston.
00:08:02We're so happy to have you here.
00:08:03If you walk this way, I'll show you to your robe.
00:08:05Okay.
00:08:07You know, William West visited the Biltmore when he was writing the original His Merry Wife.
00:08:11Hopefully, we can be a similar inspiration to you.
00:08:14Here you go.
00:08:15Your room, 359.
00:08:17Thank you so much.
00:08:18After you've had a chance to settle in, I'd love if you could join me for the evening tour of Biltmore House.
00:08:22Oh, thank you.
00:08:23I think I'm probably just going to sleep off some jet lag.
00:08:26I think it'll be worth your time.
00:08:28Starts at an hour.
00:08:29Okay.
00:08:36Okay.
00:08:37Let me see.
00:08:47Christmas at Biltmore
00:09:16is a tradition that goes all the way back to 1895.
00:09:20And we go to great lengths to try to recreate that same magic every year.
00:09:24Our guests tell us that they sometimes feel as if they've been transported to another time.
00:09:31Next up is the billiards room. Come this way.
00:09:36I can tell by the expressions on your face
00:09:38that some of you recognize this room.
00:09:41What holiday classic was shot at Biltmore?
00:09:44His merry wife.
00:09:46You are correct.
00:09:49Right this way.
00:09:51Principal photography began December of 1947 right here at Biltmore.
00:09:55And many pieces from our collection were incorporated into the film.
00:10:00This banquet table you may remember from the famous dinner party scene.
00:10:04No flash photography, please.
00:10:17Right this way.
00:10:18Here we have the gown worn by Ava Hayward in the film's emotional conclusion.
00:10:26You know, Hayward wasn't the studio's first choice to play Rebecca.
00:10:29In fact, at this point in time, she was sort of considered box office poison.
00:10:33However, writer-director William West...
00:10:36...cast her.
00:10:37It revived her career.
00:10:38And she went on to win two Academy Awards.
00:10:43And here we have Mr. Claude Lancaster.
00:10:46Hollywood's Mr. Nice Guy.
00:10:48He brought the star power to this project.
00:10:50People say that he was just as nice in person.
00:10:53Jack Houston was a relative newcomer.
00:10:56With just a couple of credits to his name.
00:10:59Funny story.
00:10:59He took a bit part in a musical called Meet Me in Poughkeepsie...
00:11:04...so he could get onto the lot and meet the studio head, Harold Balaban...
00:11:08...who he convinced to get an audition for...
00:11:10His merry wife!
00:11:11His merry wife.
00:11:12Sadly, Jack passed away and wasn't able to enjoy the tremendous success of the film.
00:11:17He died the following Christmas.
00:11:20Anyway, thank you very much for coming.
00:11:22Enjoy the conservatory.
00:11:26Lucy, if you have time, there is one more room I'd like you to see.
00:11:39Oh, sure.
00:11:45Hey, Lester.
00:11:46Excuse me.
00:11:49This is...
00:11:50...our grand library.
00:11:52It looks exactly the same.
00:11:54I know.
00:11:54You keep the prop on display all year round?
00:11:57Actually, the hourglass is not a prop.
00:12:00It comes from Biltmore's private collection.
00:12:02Oh.
00:12:03William West was so taken with it that he wrote it into the script.
00:12:07It's cracked.
00:12:08So that happened during filming.
00:12:11Luckily, they were able to repair it.
00:12:12All it's got is that little infringement now.
00:12:14It's usually in a safe vault, but I had it brought out especially for you.
00:12:18I thought you might like to see it in person before it leaves.
00:12:21Leaves?
00:12:22It's being loaned to the Smithsonian as part of their Golden Age of Hollywood exhibition.
00:12:26Oh, that's exciting.
00:12:27Speaking of Hollywood, it's the studio.
00:12:29I'll give you a minute.
00:12:30Pardon me.
00:12:32Hello, Mr. Balban.
00:12:34Lucy.
00:12:34How are those rewrites coming?
00:12:36Great.
00:12:37Happy to hear it.
00:12:38Because we were hoping to see those new pages by the 1st.
00:12:42The 1st of...
00:12:44January.
00:12:47Lucy.
00:12:48Hello?
00:12:48Uh...
00:12:49Lucy.
00:12:52Yes, I'm still here.
00:12:54We've been shuffling the release schedule and we're eyeing an earlier date.
00:12:58Now, I know that's a fast turnaround, but I have faith in you.
00:13:02Thank you, Mr. Balaban.
00:13:04I will do my best to get you what you need.
00:13:06It is a very short time frame.
00:13:10But I will...
00:13:11I will get it to you.
00:13:14Mr. Balaban?
00:13:15Hello?
00:13:26Hello?
00:13:30Sorry.
00:13:36Uh, excuse me.
00:13:47Do you know I can get some service around here?
00:13:49Well, Crafty's in front of the building.
00:13:51They serve a mean cup of coffee.
00:13:53Ha, funny guy.
00:13:56Well, what is going on?
00:13:58Why is everybody in costume?
00:13:59You're a funny girl.
00:14:00Well, we're making a major motion picture.
00:14:04His merry wife.
00:14:08Oh, what is that?
00:14:09You look just like him.
00:14:11Who?
00:14:12Uh, Jack Houston.
00:14:13Oh, I hope so.
00:14:15I am him.
00:14:16Who are you supposed to be in that get-up?
00:14:18Mr. Houston.
00:14:18Yeah.
00:14:19They need you on set.
00:14:20What scene are we filming?
00:14:2122.
00:14:22Well, hold on.
00:14:23Give me a sec, Gus.
00:14:23I'm talking to...
00:14:25Myself.
00:14:30Let's go make a movie.
00:14:31Okay.
00:14:31Let's go make a movie.
00:14:31Okay, Lucille Hargrove, this is not what it looks like.
00:14:56There's a perfectly rational explanation for everything looking like the 1940s.
00:15:01What is happening?
00:15:05You jet lagged.
00:15:07You daydreaming.
00:15:08Take a deep breath.
00:15:09Here we go.
00:15:11Three, two, one.
00:15:17Lucy.
00:15:19Miss Hargrove?
00:15:21Did you see it?
00:15:23Are they, uh, still there?
00:15:31What?
00:15:33What?
00:15:38Um, sorry.
00:15:40Where are the, uh, the lights and the people in costume?
00:15:45I'm not sure what you mean.
00:15:48Are you all right?
00:15:49Hi, Mr. Balvin, it's Lucy.
00:15:59Um, I'm really sorry.
00:16:01Our call dropped.
00:16:02I'm not really sure what happened.
00:16:04Um, anyway, give me a buzz back when you get a chance.
00:16:07Oh, I wish I had known people were gonna dress up.
00:16:15I would have brought my fascinator.
00:16:17It's just like the one Ava Hayward wears.
00:16:20What do you mean dress up?
00:16:20Like historical reenactments or like cosplay characters from the film?
00:16:23Yeah, so you can take pictures with all the decorations.
00:16:26It's in the brochure.
00:16:26It's in the brochure.
00:16:30Uh-huh.
00:16:30I'm Margaret.
00:16:32I'm Lucy.
00:16:33Well, Lucy, we better double time it if we're gonna get there before it starts.
00:16:38It what?
00:16:39The tree lighting.
00:16:40Oh.
00:16:41Come on.
00:16:44So, are you here with family?
00:16:47Uh, no, I'm a, um, I'm a writer.
00:16:49I'm here at work.
00:16:50Oh, what do you write?
00:16:52Movies.
00:16:53How glamorous.
00:16:54Have you ever met Sandra Bullock?
00:16:57Sadly, no.
00:16:58Oh, well, that's too bad because I read somewhere that she is very nice.
00:17:03Hey, you should write a movie for her.
00:17:12This trip was my Christmas gift to myself.
00:17:17I wanted to visit for as long as I can remember.
00:17:20Is it his merry way?
00:17:21How'd you know?
00:17:22You seem like a fan.
00:17:23Yeah.
00:17:24Uh, my mother and I used to watch it every year at Christmas.
00:17:28It was our little tradition.
00:17:30She would make a big bowl of popcorn and then we'd break out the box of Kleenex.
00:17:35It's my absolute favorite movie.
00:17:39Being here, it's a little like I'm in it.
00:17:43Like, oh, look, right over there is where Rebecca first meets James' disapproving parents.
00:17:49Oh, and that is where Charlie sees Rebecca for the first time and realizes his last assignment to get his wings is the woman he loves.
00:18:00Oh, and when he races through the Italian garden to stop her from leaving.
00:18:05I mean, they just don't make men like that anymore.
00:18:07There are so many locations I want to get photos of.
00:18:13I mean, this was a major motion picture.
00:18:21Um, I'll be right back.
00:18:24Okay.
00:18:24Um, I'll be right back.
00:18:46Oh, my God.
00:19:16Oh, my God.
00:19:46Oh, this cannot, this cannot be happening.
00:20:06Hey, you're not supposed to be back here.
00:20:09Oh.
00:20:10This is a closed set.
00:20:11Mr. West's orders.
00:20:12Mr. West?
00:20:13I'm going to need for you to come with me.
00:20:14There you are.
00:20:15You're late.
00:20:16The boys from Central Casting told me you'd be here an hour ago.
00:20:19Sandra, right?
00:20:20Candy cane girl?
00:20:21Mm-hmm.
00:20:25Yes.
00:20:26We've got to get you to wardrobe.
00:20:27Follow me.
00:20:28Here's a piece of advice from me to you.
00:20:30Time is money in this business, and if you're not five minutes early, you're ten minutes late.
00:20:34What on earth are you wearing?
00:20:40Looks like they flubbed your measurements at the agency.
00:20:43Nothing we can do now.
00:20:44All right.
00:20:52Okay.
00:20:52This is all going to be over.
00:20:55Just like it was last time.
00:20:56One, two, three.
00:21:05You were due on set 15 minutes ago.
00:21:12Put this on and get to set.
00:21:20It's the night of the big Christmas to-do.
00:21:22You just told your folks that you planned to wed,
00:21:25and they threatened to cut you out of the will.
00:21:27But you love her.
00:21:28But you need his help.
00:21:29Now, remember, nobody can see you except for the big lug here.
00:21:32Yes, sir.
00:21:33Ready for rehearsal?
00:21:34I think we got it.
00:21:35Let's go again.
00:21:37Places, everyone.
00:21:38Places.
00:21:39Speed.
00:21:41Music.
00:21:44Action.
00:21:48Don't look now, but I think we have an audience.
00:21:50Will your parents ever approve of me?
00:21:56Oh, hush now.
00:21:57They'll come around, kid.
00:21:59And if they don't?
00:22:00Tell her that you'll whisk her away.
00:22:02I'll whisk you far away from here.
00:22:04Whisked?
00:22:05And tell her that you'll buy her a house.
00:22:07Buy us a house of our own.
00:22:08A house?
00:22:09Tell her that you'll fill it with roses.
00:22:11And fill it with roses.
00:22:13Roses?
00:22:14One for every day since you walked into my life.
00:22:17Oh, that's a nice touch, kid.
00:22:18Well, that'd be grand.
00:22:20If I weren't allergic to them.
00:22:23Sorry about that old sport.
00:22:24I thought that was right on the money.
00:22:28And cut!
00:22:31Stop stepping on my lines, sweetheart.
00:22:33My apologies.
00:22:33Next time I'll aim for your feet.
00:22:38Thank you, Peggy.
00:22:45Hi there.
00:22:47Hi.
00:22:47I'm Jack.
00:22:48Houston.
00:22:51You got a name?
00:22:53Uh, oh, Sandra.
00:22:55Sandra.
00:22:56Sandra.
00:22:58Bullock.
00:22:59Well, Miss Bullock.
00:23:00It's nice to meet you.
00:23:01Again.
00:23:02Yeah.
00:23:03Now, look at this.
00:23:04It's been ten seconds, and you haven't bolted for the door, so I'd say we're already off to a better start.
00:23:08Oh, I've been here too long.
00:23:09Do you have somewhere that you need to be?
00:23:11You can say that.
00:23:12Well, I did say that.
00:23:13Did you, uh, see where that security guard went?
00:23:16Well, yeah, he went that way.
00:23:17Oh.
00:23:20Hey, hold this for me, Gus.
00:23:30Miss Bullock, um, what was with the disappearing actor earlier?
00:23:34Don't they need you for the next scene?
00:23:35Nah.
00:23:36They're filming the final scene of the movie.
00:23:37Well, last time I checked, you were in that.
00:23:39That's news to me.
00:23:40What do you mean?
00:23:40Whoa, watch your head.
00:23:42What do you mean?
00:23:43No, Charlie gives up a chance at his wings.
00:23:45He chases Rebecca out to the garden.
00:23:46They share a final goodbye, and she reunites with James.
00:23:49That's the end of the movie.
00:23:49No, that's, that's not the script that I read.
00:23:52It's not?
00:23:53No, but what made you say that?
00:23:55Because I've been thinking of something along those lines, and nobody will go for it.
00:23:58I am Sandra.
00:24:00I'm starting to think it's me.
00:24:08No, Charlie.
00:24:38You, how, where did you come from?
00:24:46I can explain.
00:24:49No, I can't.
00:24:50You weren't there.
00:24:53And you were there.
00:24:56What are you wearing?
00:24:57I, I, why are you here?
00:24:59You were so upset, I was worried.
00:25:02You said you'd be right back, and you were gone almost an hour.
00:25:05An hour.
00:25:06An hour.
00:25:07Okay.
00:25:08Hey, is that the one from the movie?
00:25:10Yeah, don't touch it.
00:25:10Well, why not?
00:25:13Ladies, I'm sorry.
00:25:14We're about to close up for the night.
00:25:16Oh, sorry.
00:25:17I just was here to take photos of the hourglass for my research.
00:25:22And I'm sure we'll be able to accommodate you during the appropriate hours?
00:25:26Sure, sure.
00:25:26Yeah, that's right.
00:25:29By the way, I love this costume.
00:25:32Oh.
00:25:32Straight out of the movie.
00:25:34Yeah.
00:25:35It's funny.
00:25:37Hey, you, you, you, you've been running the His Merry Wife tour for quite some time, right?
00:25:40I have.
00:25:41So you must know a bit about the obscure trivia surrounding the production?
00:25:46Yes.
00:25:47You're thinking of something specific?
00:25:48Have you heard anything about an alternate ending?
00:25:51There were rumors.
00:25:53Nothing substantiated.
00:25:54What kind of rumors?
00:25:55Well, that it was more somber, something bittersweet.
00:26:01What happened to that?
00:26:02Why did William West change it?
00:26:03Did the studio step in?
00:26:04No one knows.
00:26:05I don't think we'll ever know.
00:26:07Everyone involved with that production has passed on.
00:26:10I think that ending is lost to history.
00:26:19Please.
00:26:20Rebecca, it's all my fault.
00:26:21You have to stop.
00:26:25Charlie, how?
00:26:33You can see me?
00:26:35Just for now, Charlie.
00:26:39Well, then we don't have much time.
00:26:41And I want you to know that I love you, that I have always loved you.
00:26:45And I don't want to be the thing that's holding you back.
00:26:48The greatest gift that you can give me is to live your life and find a little happiness.
00:26:52He's a little stiff.
00:27:03But you couldn't do worse.
00:27:04God.
00:27:09Merry Christmas, Charlie.
00:27:12Merry Christmas.
00:27:13Merry Christmas.
00:27:38Merry Christmas.
00:27:42Lucy, I hope you can join us tonight for the gift-giving event.
00:28:11It's been a tradition here since 1895.
00:28:14Did you know, on the first Christmas, Biltmore opened its doors?
00:28:17It was to the employees' families in the spirit of generosity, gratitude,
00:28:21and there was a hand-picked gift under the tree for each child and staff member.
00:28:26Oh, it's a lovely tradition.
00:28:27Yes, it is.
00:28:28Did you also know that the hourglass was gifted to the Biltmore collection that very same Christmas?
00:28:33Yes.
00:28:34Speaking of that hourglass, you, um, you mentioned that you had other props and costumes from the movie in storage?
00:28:40There's not enough room to put them all out.
00:28:42Right.
00:28:42Could I possibly take a look at some of those?
00:28:44Um, I'm not sure it's worth your while.
00:28:47It's mostly extras, costumes.
00:28:48They've been in mothballs for years.
00:28:51Sure.
00:28:51Come on.
00:28:52Okay.
00:28:52Hey, you back.
00:29:17Scouts on her.
00:29:18You know, I knew that outfit you were wearing last night looked familiar.
00:29:25And then, I remembered where I saw it.
00:29:28It was on the tour.
00:29:30But here's the funny part.
00:29:32It was still there this morning on display.
00:29:35You appeared out of thin air, wearing clothes from another time.
00:29:41There can only be one explanation.
00:29:43You're a ghost.
00:29:47I'm not a ghost.
00:29:48And you're trapped here at Christmas with unfinished business.
00:29:52I'm literally holding something in my hand.
00:29:55I can help if you need to get a grave message to a loved one or, or right some wrong.
00:30:02I went back in time to 1947.
00:30:03What?
00:30:06They were filming his married wife here.
00:30:08And then the costumer thought that I was the actress playing the candy cane girl.
00:30:11So they put me in that outfit.
00:30:12But then I came back.
00:30:14And it was really weird.
00:30:17Oh, I know.
00:30:18Hold on.
00:30:18Here I go.
00:30:19You all right?
00:30:22How long were you there?
00:30:24Um, the first time, I think I...
00:30:28The first time?
00:30:29You went back more than once?
00:30:31Uh, yes.
00:30:32Well, I had to make sure I wasn't crazy.
00:30:34Still haven't arrived at an answer, honestly.
00:30:36Is that why you're looking through the old wardrobes?
00:30:39Are you planning to go back?
00:30:41Yeah, I got something I gotta do.
00:30:43This is unbelievable, right?
00:30:44How did this even happen?
00:30:46The hourglass was sitting there.
00:30:47I turned it over.
00:30:48And it brought me here.
00:30:49I mean, there, but here.
00:30:50Before I knew it, I was just standing there, talking to Jack Houston.
00:30:56Oh, is he just as charming in real life?
00:30:59He's kind of pushy, actually.
00:31:02Oh.
00:31:03Oh!
00:31:04Oh, I understand.
00:31:05You're going back for him.
00:31:07Oh, no, no, no, no.
00:31:09That is just about the most romantic thing I have ever heard.
00:31:12No, I promise I'm not going back for anyone.
00:31:15So, if you're not going back for Jack Houston, then...
00:31:19What are you going back for?
00:31:24I can't believe you didn't tell me you were writing the remake of His Merry Wife.
00:31:29Who's going to play Charlie?
00:31:31Oh, you should ask that, Ryan Reynolds.
00:31:33I mean, he would be perfect.
00:31:35He's got just the right amount of charisma.
00:31:37And he...
00:31:39Wait, what does he know if this had to do with you going back in time?
00:31:43Well, I have to find out what was in that original ending and why they changed it.
00:31:47Hark!
00:31:59The herald angels sing
00:32:02Glory to the newborn king
00:32:05Peace on earth and mercy mine
00:32:09God and sinners reconciled
00:32:12Joyful all you nations rise
00:32:16Join the triumph of the skies
00:32:20Heart the herald angels sing
00:32:24Glory to the newborn king
00:32:28You look great!
00:32:35What are you doing here?
00:32:36I'm your backup!
00:32:38My backup?
00:32:39Well, I just thought that in case something goes wrong, on this end, you might need somebody.
00:32:44Oh, no, that's okay. It's your Christmas vacation. You should go enjoy it.
00:32:49Are you kidding? This is the most exciting thing that's ever happened to me.
00:32:53Okay, so how's this work?
00:32:55So, when I turned the hourglass the first time, there were only a few minutes of sand left, which is why I think my first trip was so short.
00:33:02But the second time, I got the full hour.
00:33:05So you'll only be gone an hour?
00:33:08Barring any unforeseen circumstances.
00:33:10Are you sure this is a good idea?
00:33:12I mean, what if you change something in the past? Won't that affect the future?
00:33:17It's gonna be fine.
00:33:17And what if somebody suspects you?
00:33:20Well, I've seen his girl Friday like a dozen times. I think if I just throw in a buster here and a fella there, I'll blend right in.
00:33:26Okay.
00:33:27Okay.
00:33:28Lucy.
00:33:30Good luck.

00:44:14and my mother would always insist that i choose the picture and i always chose a comedy because they were her favorite and i would sit in that dark theater light dancing in her eyes watching her laugh and that was the best christmas gift
00:44:21is that why you wanted to become an actor sure is yeah you know i started out as a stuntman
