00:10Hulu's Tell Me Lies is the seductive series that follows the toxic on-again, off-again
00:14relationship between college students Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco over the course
00:19of eight years.
00:20Season one ended on quite the cliffhanger, with Stephen betraying Lucy and getting back
00:24together with his ex.
00:25And now it's seemingly war between the one-time lovers.
00:28The stars and real-life couple Grace Van Patten and Jackson White chatted with The Hollywood
00:33Reporter all about playing the now-possible enemies.
00:36Was it fun to sort of poke the bear and torture each other a little bit on set, or was there
00:41a scene that was particularly fun to play off that dynamic?
00:45It was so fun.
00:46I mean, the first scene we shot of this season together was when we first see each other
00:51for the first time at the party.
00:53And that was so fun because it was so loaded, and neither of us were saying the things we
01:00wanted to say, and we were kind of just, like, masking it all with these pleasantries.
01:04The tension of being deprived of each other was really fun to play.
01:09And when we would be in the same room, it would just be so loaded.
01:13Season one of the series, adapted by showrunner and EP Megan Oppenheimer, produced by Emma
01:18Roberts and based on the novel by Carola Lovering, was widely praised by audiences for the chemistry
01:23between its stars and the jaw-dropping twists and turns in every episode.
01:28Fans can expect the same in the upcoming season.
01:30When you're reading the script, are you ever like, oh, I didn't see that coming?
01:33Usually not until I say it out loud, and then it's like, whoa, that's mean.
01:41Do you ever feel frustrated with Lucy's actions?
01:44Because she does a lot of, like, crazy stuff this season.
01:46It's heartbreaking.
01:47It's, like, more like, come on.
01:50She's very unlike Steven, where he has a plan for everything, and Lucy is, I think, very
01:56impulsive and is not thinking about consequences, is not thinking about how things can add up
02:02and affect her and everyone around her.
02:05So it's very, like, spur of the moment, led by anger or hurt or embarrassment or shame.
02:12And she kind of just acts on that.
02:14The two also shared if they think Lucy and Steven will ultimately be Endgame.
02:19I mean, I don't think they should be, but I can see with just historically that they could
02:25not get out of the cycle.
