00:00The Department of Information and Communications Technology, or DICT, is fast-tracking the country's digital transformation with two major initiatives, boosting connectivity and enhancing online safety.
00:11In fulfillment of President Ferdinand R. Marcus Jr.'s directive, the DICT awarded the contract for the Kwan Simnang Bayan Program, Bayanihan Sim Project, to accelerate the expansion of free Wi-Fi and improve digital connectivity for 697,780 target recipients nationwide.
00:32This effort is already underway, including the distribution of over 41,000 free SIM cards, each with 25 gigabytes of monthly data for a year.
00:42This will be provided to students and schools from remote areas of the Bicol region, alongside the establishment of over 3,000 new cell sites as required to service providers to expand their network.
00:54Concurrently, the DICT launched Oplan Pascong Sigurado Ligtas Ang Ionong Online Christmas.
00:59The campaign, which is part of the expanded Oplan Cyberdome, intensifies cybersecurity monitoring and anti-scam operations to protect the public from fraud during the holiday season's peak online activity.
01:13Simultaneously launched was the Cybersecurity Micro-Credentials Program, in partnership with the University of the Philippines-Deliman Extension Program, aimed at training more cybersecurity professionals to secure the digital space in the country.
