The Soyuz-2.1a rocket and Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft are officially on the launch pad! On November 24, the iconic rollout took place at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, with stunning footage of the rocket being transported horizontally by rail and raised to its vertical launch position.

As tradition dictates, only the backup crew — Pyotr Dubrov, Anna Kirkina, and NASA astronaut Anil Menon — were allowed to watch. The prime crew (Sergei Kud-Sverchkov, Sergei Mikayev, and Christopher Williams) avoids this moment due to long-held superstition.

Watch the iconic rollout, the installation on the pad, and a behind-the-scenes look at one of spaceflight’s most storied traditions.
