Jamaican reggae singer and actor Jimmy Cliff dies aged 81

00:02It's been announced this morning that the singer, Jimmy Cliff, has died.
00:06The Jamaican musician was known for such hits as
00:08You Can Get It If You Really Want It, Many Rivers to Cross,
00:12and a cover of Johnny Nash's I Can See Clearly Now,
00:15which featured in the film Cool Runnings.
00:17He was one of the few musicians to be awarded the Jamaican Order of Merit.
00:22Well, his wife released a statement on Instagram
00:25saying it's with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff,
00:28has crossed over due to a seizure following by pneumonia.
00:33I'm thankful for his family, friends, fellow artists and co-workers
00:36who have shared his journey with him.
00:37To all his fans around the world,
00:39please know that your support was his strength throughout his whole career.
