Demi Lovato is set to make her directorial debut with a buzzy new documentary. Lovato teamed up with Hulu to direct 'Child Star,' a doc which examines the high highs and low lows of growing up in the spotlight. And rather than have it focus solely on Lovato's past, the singer and actress has tapped other former child stars for intimate and at times, heart-breaking conversations on growing up under the microscope of the public eye.

00:00Demi Lovato is set to make their directorial debut with a buzzy new documentary.
00:05Lovato teamed up with Hulu to direct Child Star, a doc which examines the high highs and low lows of growing up in the spotlight.
00:13But rather than have it focus solely on Lovato's past, the singer and actress has tapped other former child stars
00:18for intimate and at times heartbreaking conversations on growing up under the microscope of the public eye.
00:24The doc will include Drew Barrymore, Kenan Thompson, Christina Ricci, Raven-Symoné, Jojo Siwa, and Lovato's Camp Rock co-star Alison Stoner.
00:33Lovato said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter,
00:36I hope viewers will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and pressures faced by young people in the industry
00:41so we can achieve our goal of creating a safer and more supportive environment for future generations,
00:47young talents in entertainment, social media, and beyond.
00:50The film, which runs a little over 90 minutes and is co-directed by Nicola Marsh,
00:55is set to premiere September 17th and airs on Hulu, which is owned by Disney, which famously launched Lovato's career.
