00:00Law & Special Victims Unit will air an episode inspired by the Trayvon Martin case.
00:05I've got your first look at it coming right up.
00:10Hi everyone, I'm Brian Korsetty for ENTV and TVLine.com has all the details.
00:15Law & Special Victims Unit is known for filming episodes ripped straight from the world's
00:20most controversial headlines.
00:23Remember the Chris Brown and Rihanna inspired episode that aired earlier this year?
00:32And according to New Onset Photos, it looks like they'll continue this tradition in the
00:37upcoming 15th season with an episode inspired by one of the biggest and most controversial
00:43legal stories of the year, the shooting of Trayvon Martin and the trial of George Zimmerman.
00:49The episode is allegedly titled, American Tragedy, and according to the Daily Mail, Civil Shepherd
00:54stars as a vigilante-like character who kills a black teenager named Makad.
00:59Arrested Development's Jeffrey Tambor plays her lawyer, and in one scene they appear to
01:03be in the middle of a protest, much like the one held during Zimmerman's trial in July.
01:08The storyline's connection to the real life tragedy is made even more obvious by the deceased
01:13character Makad wearing a hoodie, similar to the one Trayvon was reportedly wearing the
01:18night he died.
01:19In the aftermath of Trayvon's death, celebrities famously wore hoodies as a statement against
01:24the racial profiling that many felt occurred when Zimmerman shot the young teen last year.
01:30According to E! Online, when NBC was asked about the episode's inspiration, they answered
01:35quote, SVU is fiction.
01:37You know that's not true.
01:38The new season of Law & SVU premieres September 25th on NBC.
01:43I'm Brian Corsetti for the latest TV news.
