00:00:00Today's coffee consumers base their purchasing decisions on convenience and brand familiarity,
00:00:26as well as anything to get them through the daily grind.
00:00:28The stories that Rosemary and I have created will bring customers into the stories,
00:00:33positioning Good Idea Coffee as a subliminal thought throughout their day.
00:00:37I like what I'm hearing so far.
00:00:39Our aim is to showcase your brand's strengths and the qualities that help people get through their everyday
00:00:46to boost energy and productivity.
00:00:48A couple navigating their busy morning to a family at breakfast.
00:00:52A midday board meeting to a nighttime coffee nestled by a fire as one of our execs works overtime on a project.
00:00:58All of which are relatable.
00:00:59Our goal is to show people in their everyday lives but in fast-paced scenarios where they are using your coffee to adapt.
00:01:06They'll see themselves in the campaign.
00:01:08I like it. I see it.
00:01:11Good Idea Coffee is saying, that's a good idea.
00:01:15We aim to finalize a clear direction for the commercial campaign and print across all media formats by January 1st.
00:01:23Okay.
00:01:24Final presentations will be heard on the 24th.
00:01:27Um, yeah, of course, that's, sure, that's not a problem.
00:01:34We are only taking two final pitches and you're one of them.
00:01:38I'm confident that you'll deliver exactly what we've discussed.
00:01:42Thank you so much for the opportunity, really.
00:01:44And I'll walk you out.
00:01:47To Compass our Creative, Philadelphia's best marketing firm.
00:01:52Mm-hmm.
00:01:53Look at us. Who would have thought that we'd be so...
00:01:56Hey, what's wrong? This is a big success.
00:02:00I know. I know nothing. It's just...
00:02:02Well, we can't get too excited and celebrate too much too fast.
00:02:05We still have to nail the final pitch, right?
00:02:08With a pair of us? We can make it happen.
00:02:10Plus, it will really help us with the rent for this place.
00:02:12I know. That's my point. We just...
00:02:14We can't get too...
00:02:16Sorry, one second. This is my dad calling.
00:02:19Hi, Dad.
00:02:20Say hi to Jeff.
00:02:21Hey, Mr. Brown.
00:02:22Hi there, Jeff.
00:02:23Sorry to bug you, honey.
00:02:25I know you guys are really busy.
00:02:27Um, it's fine.
00:02:28We're just, uh, in the middle of this big pitch,
00:02:31so I don't have a ton of time.
00:02:33But what's up? Is everything okay?
00:02:35Everything's fine.
00:02:36I'm just helping your mother decorate the shop,
00:02:38and I can't seem to find her box of extra lights.
00:02:41If I know Mom, it's probably in the red storage bin
00:02:44over by the extra biography stock.
00:02:46It's where it always is.
00:02:47Ah, of course. The one place I didn't look.
00:02:50All right, honey. Thank you.
00:02:51Yeah. Wait, wait, wait. Where's Mom?
00:02:54Just a bit under the weather.
00:02:56Um, what kind of weather, and how much is she under it?
00:03:00My mom apparently isn't feeling very well.
00:03:03William, thanks for coming.
00:03:05Honey, I've got a friend just come in to help me here.
00:03:07I'll call you later, okay?
00:03:08Dad, what are you not telling me?
00:03:10Everything's fine.
00:03:12Your mom just sprained her ankle a little. That's all.
00:03:15She didn't want to worry you.
00:03:17Okay, well, now I'm worried.
00:03:19I'll fill you in later, honey, okay? Bye. Love you.
00:03:22I can't thank you enough,
00:03:24and I know this is not in your usual job description.
00:03:26Are you kidding?
00:03:27You and Susan were the first to welcome me to Maple River.
00:03:29For you guys, it's absolutely in my job description.
00:03:32All right, let's get to work.
00:03:34Okay, what do we got?
00:03:35I guess my mom slipped on some ice.
00:03:38Hey.
00:03:39Just, of all the times for this to happen,
00:03:42we have inventory arriving daily, and decorations need to go up.
00:03:45Do you still host that Christmas story reading thing?
00:03:47I mean, you're supposed to, but with my mom off her feet,
00:03:49I don't know how my dad's going to do it all.
00:03:51Rosemary, go home.
00:03:54No. No, Jeff, I can't leave you with the deadline Sam just dropped on us.
00:04:00Rosemary, we know our strategy for the Good Idea Coffee campaign.
00:04:03Just go home. Go be with your parents for a few days.
00:04:05You can work from home.
00:04:07When is the last time you took a day off?
00:04:11Exactly. Remember when I called Chicken Fox?
00:04:14You covered for me for like two weeks?
00:04:16Get out of here.
00:04:18Are you sure?
00:04:19I am sure. Just, I might call you a couple times.
00:04:21You just gotta be okay with that.
00:04:23You know what? I will take it. That's totally fine.
00:04:25I will pick up any call from you, partner.
00:04:27Oh, that's so nice of you.
00:04:28Okay, thank you so much.
00:04:30Have a safe trip.
00:04:31Merry Christmas.
00:04:32Merry Christmas.
00:04:33Dad?
00:04:34Hey.
00:04:35Hi.
00:04:36Oh, you must be new here.
00:04:38We don't really drape the lights over the books because it can be bad for business if customers can't see the books very easily.
00:04:53I see.
00:04:54Yeah.
00:04:55And, you know, if a customer reaches for the book and then the lights fall down, it's also not good. So that's why we don't do that.
00:05:08And you are?
00:05:09Rosemary. Rosemary Brown, the store owner's daughter. Yes, I've decorated the shop a time or two. Sorry, who are you?
00:05:26I'm William Tandy.
00:05:27Dad!
00:05:28Hi.
00:05:29Surprise!
00:05:30What are you doing here?
00:05:31I just, when you called about mom, I figured I would come home for a few days and help around the store.
00:05:39Well, your mom is going to be even more surprised than me. Hey, how about the lights on the shelves? I think your mom's gonna like it. It's a nice change. Light up the books.
00:05:48Excuse me, honey. I'll be right back.
00:05:51Oh, my dad's idea? Mm-hmm.
00:05:55Okay. Um, well, for the record, I don't think my mom's gonna like this. She's a bit of a traditionalist.
00:06:02Well, uh, also, for the record, I don't work here. So, I'm gonna get back to volunteering for your dad. But, uh, thanks for the tip.
00:06:12Um, Dad, did you, uh, do you need some help with that?
00:06:25I still can't believe you're here. Best surprise ever.
00:06:28Excellent.
00:06:29But, you did not need to come. I mean, Dad and I have everything under control.
00:06:34Well, maybe not everything.
00:06:40I feel bad. Are you really sure that Jeff's got everything under control with all your accounts while you're here?
00:06:48Yes, absolutely. And we brainstormed on the drive up here. And anyway, I can, you know, work when I'm on break from the store.
00:06:54Let's just say the pans weren't the only things that fell to the floor. These are now substituting as dessert.
00:07:00Oh, it's a good thing I came back. No, I'm good. Thanks, Dad.
00:07:03It is. I hate not being all decorated by now. I mean, I would have all the Christmas books unpacked and the lights all strung and the Santa's ho-ho-ing. I just...
00:07:11I need this ankle to cooperate.
00:07:13No, Mom, what you need is to stay off the ankle so that you're healed up for story night.
00:07:17Maybe we ought to just skip it this year.
00:07:20Mom, no, you can't skip it this year. I mean, everyone looks forward to it. And plus, it's good for publicity.
00:07:26Says my marketing expert daughter.
00:07:29But all the prep and the planning, it just, it makes more work for you.
00:07:34No, it's worth it, Mom. And anyway, Dad had a worker there at the store today, so not so much work after all.
00:07:39William came by to help with decorations, just to get started.
00:07:43You did show him the Christmas time photo, so all the decorations go in the right place?
00:07:47We, uh, we didn't do too much, honey. Just a few strands of lights and maybe a garland or two.
00:07:55Okay, Mom, don't worry about it. Why don't you just text me a to-do list at...
00:08:06How did you even... have this on standby?
00:08:10Be prepared.
00:08:12Okay. Okay, it's gonna be fine. We're gonna get it all done. Don't worry.
00:08:16Cheers. Merry Christmas, guys. Happy to be home.
00:08:19Merry Christmas.
00:08:20Merry Christmas.
00:08:25Looks like this is turning out to be a bigger job than expected.
00:08:27No, not at all. Actually, uh, I replaced the whole door handle. And, uh, since I was here, I got you a new lock.
00:08:33Might come look at this later, though.
00:08:36I-I just, I can't tell you how grateful we are for you.
00:08:38You are unbelievable. Thank you so much. Listen, this is a pain job.
00:08:44No, no, okay. I love coffee and leftover potluck desserts, all right? Honestly.
00:08:48And that's kind of worth more to a single man deciding his next step in life.
00:08:54How about that? Have you thought about that job your old boss set up for you?
00:08:57Yeah. Um, I mean, it's a great position in another furniture company. Benefits it all.
00:09:02Oh, well, look. You work so hard, you deserve that. Sounds like you're all set up.
00:09:06Yeah. Yeah, it's a great opportunity.
00:09:10However...
00:09:11Something in my gut says to not take it just yet.
00:09:16I mean, I know it's risky, and I know it's tough for small businesses, but...
00:09:22Making furniture is my passion.
00:09:25And I used to do it full-time.
00:09:27But wait, so couldn't you just make some custom furniture at the new job?
00:09:32Nah, no way I'd be able to do both.
00:09:35I see.
00:09:37Okay, well, let me ask you this.
00:09:39If you could do anything, anything at all in your life, and you knew you just couldn't fail, what would you do?
00:09:45Oh, um...
00:09:46Oh, Rosemary, what a delightful surprise.
00:09:47I got you, I got you.
00:09:48Pastor Dale, hi.
00:09:49Hi. It's so good to see you.
00:09:51Sorry, my mom just wanted to make sure that you got the last box of our book donations.
00:09:55How is she doing?
00:09:56In her words, the timing of this brain is not ideal.
00:09:59Yeah.
00:10:01Uh, actually, Rosemary, do you know William?
00:10:03Uh, no.
00:10:04Yeah, we met yesterday.
00:10:05Well, we might have met yesterday, but I don't know you know you.
00:10:10Well, uh, finer man, you will not meet in Maple River.
00:10:13Indeed.
00:10:14Thanks again, William.
00:10:15Uh, well, look, I hope to see you both at the meeting for the Christmas Eve service.
00:10:20We need as many volunteers as we can get.
00:10:22Absolutely.
00:10:23We'll see.
00:10:24Um, I should probably go ahead and take it.
00:10:26I gotcha.
00:10:28After you.
00:10:29Okay.
00:10:40Wow, I've missed this place.
00:10:42No churches in Philly?
00:10:44No, a lot actually, just none that feel like home.
00:10:48I used to spend a lot of time here, so it holds a special place in my heart.
00:10:51I'm sorry, wait, how do you know where I live?
00:10:54Uh, let's just say your parents are very proud of you.
00:10:58Whenever I help them out, one of them usually has a good Rosemary story.
00:11:01Oh, please tell me they haven't broken out the childhood photo albums.
00:11:05Follow me up until age and high.
00:11:07But, uh, it's pretty awesome, though.
00:11:10They told me you have your own company? Marketing?
00:11:12Yeah, um, Compass Star Creative, where we guide you in the right direction.
00:11:18It's been, uh, a lot of hard work for many years, but, you know, proud of it.
00:11:24Guide you in the right direction?
00:11:26I like that.
00:11:28So what about you? What are you doing here in Maple River?
00:11:30Uh, I moved here a couple of years ago for work and never left.
00:11:35It's the kind of place I feel like you get to and you just immediately know you never want to leave.
00:11:43I, oh, I didn't mean, I didn't mean like you should never have left.
00:11:46No, it's okay. Um, honestly, if I could have started my company here and had the same success, I would have.
00:11:52Um, so you fix church doors?
00:11:55Yes, it's my passion.
00:11:57Is it?
00:11:59No, I make custom furniture. I used to work at Kendrick's before he retired.
00:12:04Oh. So wait, what does that mean for you?
00:12:07Well, I have this one job offer, but I'm also thinking about branching out on my own.
00:12:11Oh, okay. Well, if you need any help with that, I happen to know a girl who might have some experience in marketing.
00:12:17Nah, you got enough on your plate with your parents.
00:12:18Sorry, speaking of my parents, my mom just sent me my to-do list, my third one since last night.
00:12:25Oh, no, and now my dad is texting. Apparently my mom's favorite wreath broke in two.
00:12:30Uh, this might be a silly question, but how exactly does a wreath break?
00:12:35It's an old wooden wreath.
00:12:37Well, I might happen to know a guy who's pretty good working with wood.
00:12:40Is that an offer to help?
00:12:42Maybe.
00:12:43Well, I don't want to take you from your work, if you're...
00:12:49Okay. Thank you. You're a lifesaver.
00:12:51No problem.
00:12:52Hey, do you have a quick second?
00:12:58That depends. Are you taking some much-needed you time, or are you calling about work?
00:13:02Can it be both?
00:13:04I'll allow it this time. How's your mom?
00:13:07Well, she'd tell you that she's fine, but she makes a really bad patient.
00:13:10And it's a good thing I came back because the store's really not ready for Christmas.
00:13:15But, thankfully, William has been helping, so that's been really nice.
00:13:20Who has? Oh, don't tell me they finally hired someone to help them.
00:13:23No, no, never. You know my parents.
00:13:26Um, William is this guy who moved here a few years ago to Maple River.
00:13:31Did he now? And what does William do in Maple River?
00:13:34No. That is... That's not what I meant.
00:13:38Honestly, come on. You can tell me. It sounds like there might be something going on.
00:13:42No. No, it isn't.
00:13:43Okay, look, that's... This is not what I'm calling about. I'm calling about work.
00:13:46I'm calling about the Good Idea Coffee campaign.
00:13:48Did you get the marketing data I emailed over?
00:13:50Already incorporated into the final pitch.
00:13:52I just want to make sure it's not predictable.
00:13:54Predictable.
00:13:56You're right. Okay, um, how about I...
00:13:59Hi.
00:14:01I'm here to see a girl about a wreath.
00:14:02Is that William?
00:14:03Uh, I'll call you back later.
00:14:04Have fun.
00:14:06Um...
00:14:08Hi. I hope I didn't take you from work.
00:14:11No. Uh, well, actually, this is what I was working on.
00:14:15Oh.
00:14:19Hmm.
00:14:21It's terrible, isn't it?
00:14:23No. No, it just...
00:14:25Could use some vanessing.
00:14:27That is a kind way of putting it.
00:14:29Listen, we all have our talents, okay?
00:14:31And this really isn't that bad.
00:14:33It's just...
00:14:34Have you thought about maybe using a more eye-catching font?
00:14:38And then these, these here, are these your designs?
00:14:42Yeah.
00:14:44If you had photos of them, maybe we could make those the focus, since that's what we're selling.
00:14:49Um, if you want to send me those photos, then I can take a look later today and see what I can do.
00:14:53No, no, no. You got way more important things going on here. I would not ask that of you.
00:14:58You didn't. I offered.
00:15:00Which was super kind, but I'm also fairly certain I can't afford a big marketing firm rate.
00:15:04It's a tax write-off. I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Okay, look, thankfully we have something to trade.
00:15:11Okay, one broken wreath does not equal a new company's marketing strategy.
00:15:17Right, it doesn't. But you have no idea how much work I need you to do, so if you could just go ahead and shake on it, that would be great.
00:15:23Just go ahead and shake. We have a deal?
00:15:28Deal.
00:15:30Okay. So, you've already shaken on it. You can't change your mind now.
00:15:34How back could it be?
00:15:39Okay.
00:15:41Thanks.
00:15:43So, you've already agreed to it. There's no backing out now.
00:15:46But, for starters, this piece fell off. I think it was trim. I think it maybe actually went back here.
00:15:53And it just, it needs some love.
00:15:57I think it's an easy fix.
00:15:59Honestly. I mean, I could sand this down and, I mean, all out of stain to remove these stars.
00:16:03Whoa! Not the stars. Those are an important part of my history.
00:16:07Let me guess. School project didn't go as planned.
00:16:11I think it went exactly as planned.
00:16:13My sixth grade art teacher didn't agree, but fortunately for me, my mom loved them.
00:16:17Okay. Uh, fix the top and keep the stars.
00:16:19Well, if it's okay, I mean, I could just fix it in the back right here.
00:16:23The less movement, the better.
00:16:26Yeah. Yeah, whatever works.
00:16:29Um, listen, uh, I'm aware of fixing the wreath and the podium.
00:16:35It's not really what you do. So, thank you.
00:16:38Well, um, I'm sure you don't spend all day fixing fires for guys who might start a business.
00:16:47I can make an exception.
00:16:49Okay. Okay.
00:16:50Okay.
00:16:51Take it to the back?
00:16:52Yeah.
00:16:54This thing's like a tank.
00:17:01Uh, where do you think you're going?
00:17:03Me? Uh, nowhere. I, I, I was just stretching.
00:17:07Susan Brown, you have to stay off your feet. You heard the doctor. You've got to give it a chance to heal.
00:17:12I know, but I could go down to the store and sit still there.
00:17:17It's only a few days, unless you continue to try to walk every time I leave the room.
00:17:21Fine.
00:17:25You think we should call Rosemary? She might need our help.
00:17:28Artie did, and she doesn't.
00:17:30She's very capable of running the store, even during Christmas.
00:17:33For the record, I am not happy about this.
00:17:38Oh, you've made that abundantly clear.
00:17:42That said, I do love that she's home, even if it's just for a little bit.
00:17:46I know. Me too.
00:17:50And, ta-da!
00:17:54Honey, um...
00:17:56Oh, um, pizza or Chinese?
00:18:00Okay, thank you so much for shopping with us. Merry Christmas.
00:18:06If you need any help, just let me know.
00:18:10Rosemary Brown, is that you?
00:18:13Erin?
00:18:14Hi.
00:18:15What are you doing?
00:18:16What are you doing home?
00:18:17Um, my mom slipped on ice, believe it or not.
00:18:20Yeah, she twisted her ankle, but she's totally fine.
00:18:23And, yeah, I just thought I would come back and help out for the holiday season.
00:18:26What about you? I thought you were out west.
00:18:28Yes, no, I, um, I was, and then...
00:18:31Erin, oh my gosh, congratulations!
00:18:34Yeah, I know, we got married and decided I wanted to raise a family,
00:18:37so we moved back here...
00:18:39almost a year ago.
00:18:41Wow, wait, family?
00:18:44We're working on it.
00:18:45In the meantime, I have nieces and nephews.
00:18:47Okay.
00:18:48Your mom said you guys have some Christmas books for kids.
00:18:50Oh, oh, kids books.
00:18:51Yeah, we just sold out, unfortunately,
00:18:53but I literally just placed another order, and they will be in tomorrow.
00:18:56Okay.
00:18:57I love you guys.
00:18:58I'll come back tomorrow.
00:18:59Twist my arm, pull my leg.
00:19:01Oh, my gosh.
00:19:02I love this store.
00:19:04I think I used to stay here every day after school.
00:19:06I wanted to live here.
00:19:08And what about you?
00:19:09I'm so rude.
00:19:10How are you?
00:19:11What's new?
00:19:12Um, I'm good, actually.
00:19:13I'm still living in Philadelphia, and my company's doing really well.
00:19:16Love working there, so, yeah, everything's going really...
00:19:20really well, as you can see.
00:19:21Um...
00:19:22You're good.
00:19:23Go, go, go.
00:19:24Yeah, I'm so sorry, but you know what?
00:19:25I would love to see you soon, so maybe we could, like, get lunch and catch up.
00:19:28Yeah, no, I would love that.
00:19:29Okay.
00:19:30Okay.
00:19:31Sounds good.
00:19:33Where's Mary Brown?
00:19:35Yes.
00:19:36Yes, um, Jeff, I'm so sorry I didn't call you back yesterday.
00:19:40I just...
00:19:41I forgot how crazy it gets her in here at Christmas time, but, um, I did get your texts and your
00:19:46emails, and I still think we're good on the pitch, but, you know, I'll give you a call
00:19:49tomorrow and we can kind of chat about it.
00:19:52Okay, bye.
00:19:57Oh, this is a welcome surprise twice in one day.
00:20:00Well, you know my mother wouldn't miss a meeting.
00:20:02As church secretary, she does have her list, you understand.
00:20:04I do not doubt that, which is why I ran back to get my notes, because I know she will be
00:20:08checking off items as we go, and I do not want to skip one.
00:20:11Yeah, absolutely.
00:20:12Wise man.
00:20:13How does it feel to be back home?
00:20:16It's good.
00:20:17Yeah, no, it's...
00:20:18I really miss spending time with my parents, so it's nice to be back, and good to take a
00:20:21break from work, probably.
00:20:23This is the wonderful thing about being back.
00:20:25Home is always here waiting for you.
00:20:27Uh, will I see you later?
00:20:29Yes, uh, yeah, I just...
00:20:30Work emails.
00:20:31Gotta finish those first.
00:20:32Yeah, excellent.
00:20:33I'll see you later, then.
00:20:42Is there anything in this town that you're not a part of?
00:20:46Probably not.
00:20:47Oh, well, actually, this is really great, because I have something for you.
00:20:51Oh.
00:20:52Two somethings, actually.
00:20:57Well, what do you think?
00:20:59You made these today?
00:21:01How?
00:21:02Well, between customers, and how...
00:21:05This is literally what I do.
00:21:07I...
00:21:08Look, they're just first drafts, okay?
00:21:10And I'm open to any changes that you would like on one condition.
00:21:13Which is?
00:21:14We don't ever go back to your original.
00:21:16I mean, ever, ever.
00:21:17It was really sad.
00:21:19Agreed.
00:21:20These are amazing.
00:21:21Really.
00:21:22Well...
00:21:23But, you know...
00:21:24But?
00:21:25Considering the amount of work I foresee myself doing at your parents' bookstore this very
00:21:35busy Christmas season, I don't know if these flyers are gonna cover it all.
00:21:38Whoa!
00:21:39What kind of work do you expect to be doing there?
00:21:41Well, now that I've got these flyers, you might have all kinds of ideas.
00:21:46I'll see you in there.
00:21:47Betsy, you're organizing the ushers.
00:22:02Marsha, I have you on refreshments.
00:22:05And thank you to the Brown Family for coordinating deserts...
00:22:08Christmas cookies, pecan pie, cocoa brownies, and pumpkin cheesecake.
00:22:14All right, William, you're next on the agenda.
00:22:16Yeah, um, so I've had this idea for a while,
00:22:21and I shared it with Pastor Dale,
00:22:24and he suggested that we turn it into a Christmas mural
00:22:27and put it behind the altar.
00:22:29It'll, uh, it'll be a painting of Bethlehem at night.
00:22:32There'll be deep shades of blue throughout the dark sky
00:22:35and little bits of gold starlight right over the town,
00:22:38and, of course, at the forefront, Mary and Joseph.
00:22:42William, that sounds beautiful.
00:22:44Thank you, Mrs. B.
00:22:45And I plan to carve the whole thing into wood first.
00:22:50Um, sorry, did you just say you're planning on carving that whole scene into wood?
00:22:55Yeah, that's what I just said.
00:22:58Is the carving part done yet?
00:23:00No, not yet.
00:23:02Well, I'm just thinking that, don't you need to paint it after it's done?
00:23:08It would appear that way.
00:23:10Sorry, I'm really not trying to question your artistic process here or anything,
00:23:15but, um, what you described, while breathtakingly beautiful,
00:23:19it's very intricate, and I just, I'm a little concerned it might not be done by Christmas Eve.
00:23:27Well, it's a good thing you're so experienced painting stars.
00:23:32I'm happy to be working with you.
00:23:35Very sweet.
00:23:36Um, I don't think that's a very good idea.
00:23:39It would be really weird for me to jump in.
00:23:41You know, you've already started.
00:23:42Artists can be so territorial with their work and all, so...
00:23:46Any help you could give William will be very much appreciated by us.
00:23:50Mm-hmm.
00:23:51Rosie, that's so nice of you.
00:23:53And each year we're gonna have a little piece of you at the holidays.
00:23:57It just, it's wonderful.
00:24:00You know, okay, yeah, especially because William has so kindly offered to put my name next to his on the mural.
00:24:09I didn't say it exactly like that.
00:24:11Okay, well, then it is settled.
00:24:14Rosemary and William will be creating a masterpiece that will be unveiled at the Christmas Eve service.
00:24:19Merry Christmas.
00:24:23Merry Christmas.
00:24:49Merry Christmas.
00:25:19Well, good morning, honey.
00:25:20You're up early.
00:25:21Good morning.
00:25:22Yeah, I just wanted to start the day early.
00:25:24A lot to do.
00:25:25And then I'm gonna head over and get the bookstore all opened up.
00:25:28You don't need to do that.
00:25:29Dad's already there.
00:25:30I mean, you could use a little rest.
00:25:32I was up in the night getting some water and I heard you working.
00:25:35What are you doing?
00:25:37Well, I wanted to get a jump on the invites.
00:25:41I know.
00:25:41And before you try to cancel it again, you should know I've already sent them out.
00:25:46That's impossible.
00:25:46It's too early.
00:25:47Social media is a very powerful tool, Mom.
00:25:50All of our regulars have already been made aware.
00:25:52And then I think I'm gonna print this out and take some physical ones around town.
00:25:56I don't even have an idea for a story yet.
00:25:59Well, thankfully, with your ankle, you have plenty of time to read.
00:26:01And we just got some new Christmas releases into the bookstore, so, you know, you can peruse through those.
00:26:06You'll always find the best undiscovered authors.
00:26:08I'm not worried about it.
00:26:09I do.
00:26:10Don't I?
00:26:12You know, seeing you with this notebook, it just reminds me of every year.
00:26:16Just ready to promote the night.
00:26:19Well, I think I still got it, if I do say so myself.
00:26:22Have I mentioned how much I love having you on?
00:26:24Not today.
00:26:28You know, who would have ever thought that twisting my ankle would be such a blessing?
00:26:32Maybe I should do it every year.
00:26:35Mom!
00:26:38By the way, you and William and the project at the church last night, it was quite a surprise.
00:26:44Yeah, it was to me, too.
00:26:47Um, we're supposed to meet later today to go over some of the details.
00:26:52Hmm.
00:26:52Well, anything to get you away from the computer and back to painting and drawing has my vote.
00:26:58And, you know, William's not exactly hard on the eyes.
00:27:03Mom.
00:27:04Oh, my goodness.
00:27:09I am so sorry for keeping you all waiting.
00:27:12Good morning, Erin.
00:27:14Rosemary will be so disappointed she missed you.
00:27:17It's okay.
00:27:17I saw her yesterday.
00:27:19She said she left some books for me in the back.
00:27:20Oh, she did.
00:27:21I can grab them or you're welcome to come around.
00:27:23Come around.
00:27:25Hi.
00:27:26How are you doing today?
00:27:28I'm doing great, thank you.
00:27:29That is going to be $52.29.
00:27:33And could I have those gift wrap, please?
00:27:35Uh, sure.
00:27:36Oh, um, could you wait a minute?
00:27:38We're a little short-staffed right now.
00:27:40That's okay.
00:27:40I'm actually really good at gift wrapping.
00:27:42Um, that would be amazing, Erin.
00:27:46Could you please?
00:27:46Yeah, sure.
00:27:47Come with me.
00:27:48Let me help you over here.
00:27:49Great.
00:27:49Thanks.
00:27:50Merry Christmas.
00:27:52Next.
00:27:53Hi.
00:27:53Oh, it's so good to be back.
00:28:00Oh, someone hasn't been following my directions now, have they?
00:28:05Yeah.
00:28:05Look who it is.
00:28:07Mom got permission to come in if she promises to take it easy.
00:28:10Looks like the elves have been very busy.
00:28:12Honey, I know you're a fan of tradition and keeping things the same.
00:28:16And before you say anything, I can move everything back to where it was.
00:28:18I just thought we could use a tiny refresher in here.
00:28:22That's all.
00:28:24I don't hate it.
00:28:26Yet.
00:28:27Oh, I'll take it.
00:28:29Oh, Rosemary, you just missed Erin.
00:28:31Yeah, she came in to pick up the books and save the day.
00:28:34She helped wrap presents.
00:28:35Well, you know, Erin loves this place almost as much as we do, so if you were ever to hire
00:28:41some full-time help, we have always been just fine with the two of us and part-time
00:28:45help if there's a busy season.
00:28:46Mom, Christmas is the busy season.
00:28:49And look, here you are.
00:28:51Part-time help.
00:28:52Check.
00:28:54Sorry, one second.
00:28:55Here, help me with my coat, sweetie.
00:28:57Jeff, hi.
00:28:58I'm so sorry.
00:29:00I did not have a chance to look over what you sent me last night.
00:29:04All good.
00:29:05Hey, I hope that forgetting means you were having fun.
00:29:07How's Susan?
00:29:09She's better.
00:29:10Um, yeah, she's actually here today, which is great.
00:29:13But, um, I was really hoping that I could stay with him for maybe a few more days.
00:29:20You stay as long as you need and want to.
00:29:22I've got everything covered here.
00:29:24Thank you, Jeff.
00:29:25It's now a good time to walk through the tweaks I made in the final good idea presentation.
00:29:30I'm so sorry.
00:29:31I'm supposed to meet someone.
00:29:32I kind of volunteered for this thing that, um, it was for the church, so I said yes.
00:29:38Of course.
00:29:39Have fun.
00:29:41William, hi.
00:29:43Hi.
00:29:43Oh, good to see you.
00:29:46Morning.
00:29:46Morning, Mr. Brown.
00:29:47Hi.
00:29:47How are you?
00:29:48Good.
00:29:49I thought we were going to meet at the Maple Morning.
00:29:52We were.
00:29:53But I was just walking by and I figured I'd come see how your mom was doing.
00:29:57Okay.
00:29:58If you prefer, I can walk back outside and go literally next door.
00:30:02And then we don't have to walk together.
00:30:05Yeah, okay.
00:30:06You want me to leave?
00:30:08No, no, wait.
00:30:09No, I'll leave.
00:30:10You'll leave.
00:30:11Wait, that's silly.
00:30:12Uh, that's not what I meant.
00:30:12Hold on, let me back up.
00:30:13I, you know what, why don't I just, I'll get my things and we can, unless you guys, do
00:30:18you need help here?
00:30:20No, not at all.
00:30:20Go have fun.
00:30:22Okay.
00:30:23Then I will get my things.
00:30:28Thank you, guys.
00:30:29It's good to see you back on your feet.
00:30:30Me too.
00:30:34Whoa, this hot chocolate looks like dessert.
00:30:37Mm-hmm.
00:30:38I guess this is my breakfast now.
00:30:39I don't really hear a problem with that.
00:30:41Okay, so, where are we starting?
00:30:49With a thank you.
00:30:50For what?
00:30:52For helping me with my project.
00:30:54Oh, wait, hold on.
00:30:55I thought this was our project.
00:30:57You know, the project that you volunteered me for, without warning?
00:31:02If I had asked you privately, would you have said yes?
00:31:05Mm-hmm.
00:31:06Well, what if I can't paint this picture anyway?
00:31:11Oh, no.
00:31:13Okay, good.
00:31:14So, Bob and Susan have filled you in on my early artistic endeavors then.
00:31:18Mm-hmm.
00:31:19They did indeed.
00:31:20Okay.
00:31:20Here's what we got.
00:31:21Good.
00:31:25Now, I've been working on this, right?
00:31:27But I'm kind of behind on the painting.
00:31:30Do you like it?
00:31:37Yeah, it's really beautiful.
00:31:41Now, I'm open to suggestions.
00:31:43If I'm being honest, painting isn't my specialty, but that's where you come in.
00:31:48At least, according to your parents.
00:31:50Well, I'm just really excited to see what you've done so far in person.
00:31:55Oh, yeah.
00:31:56Yeah, we'll get to that.
00:31:57I mean, I know you've got to get back to the store.
00:31:59Oh, no, no.
00:32:00I actually just kind of cleared my schedule for this because we don't have a ton of time.
00:32:04I mean, Christmas Eve is only a week away, right?
00:32:06Yes.
00:32:07One week.
00:32:08Seven days.
00:32:11It's crazy.
00:32:12Yeah, and I actually don't know what my parents have told you,
00:32:16but it's kind of been a while since I've done any paintings,
00:32:20so I could kind of use all the time I could get.
00:32:25Yeah, that makes sense, too.
00:32:26Totally.
00:32:28Yeah, unless, you know, I understand if you want to get someone with a little bit more experience.
00:32:33No, no, you're perfect.
00:32:35Not for the mirror.
00:32:41Great.
00:32:44Well, let's go.
00:32:45Let's just go.
00:32:46Go right now.
00:32:47Yeah, let's go to your shop.
00:32:48I mean, why not?
00:32:51Why not?
00:32:52Yeah, totally.
00:32:53I mean, we've got the drawings.
00:32:54Oh, but we could get these to go, I think.
00:32:56I think I see.
00:32:57Do you guys, excuse me, I'm so sorry.
00:32:58Do you guys have some to-go?
00:32:59Of course, we're going to go.
00:33:00We're going to go see it right now.
00:33:01Yeah, thank you so much.
00:33:02Merry Christmas.
00:33:05Oh.
00:33:07These are the last of the new ones.
00:33:14I'm sorry.
00:33:16I should have asked before I went all scallywag on you.
00:33:20Before you went what?
00:33:21Oh, yeah.
00:33:22I've been reading a new Christmas novel we got in, and it takes place in the mid-1800s.
00:33:26I said I'm sorry because I do know how hard it's been with your ankle and how much Christmas
00:33:32means to you.
00:33:33So if you want me to change things back to how you normally have them, I will.
00:33:40Scallywag.
00:33:40Okay, now, I know the customer's always right, but, um, if we just look at a couple things
00:33:45together?
00:33:46Yes, of course.
00:33:47Mm-hmm.
00:33:54Mm-hmm.
00:33:55Whoa.
00:33:57William.
00:33:58These pieces are incredible, and this space.
00:34:01Yeah, my old boss lets me use it.
00:34:03You sound surprised.
00:34:04No, no, I just, um, honestly, I didn't know what to expect.
00:34:10That's a fair point.
00:34:12Wow, you were really downplaying yourself, saying, oh, I'm thinking about branching out.
00:34:16I mean, come on.
00:34:17These pieces are amazing.
00:34:19People would absolutely pay for them.
00:34:20You could make a living at this.
00:34:21Like, a really good one.
00:34:22I appreciate that, but right now I'd be happy with an order.
00:34:25As in, one.
00:34:27Okay, give me a day or two to let me think about how I can help.
00:34:30No, no, you already helped me out with the flyer.
00:34:31The flyer?
00:34:32Come on, these pieces are way bigger than that.
00:34:34They're works of art.
00:34:36Speaking of works of art, infamous mural, I hear it's around here somewhere.
00:34:40Yes.
00:34:41That way.
00:34:43Okay.
00:34:47Okay, wait, here we go.
00:34:48Um, sorry, this is a block of wood.
00:34:58Yes.
00:35:00I'm aware.
00:35:03Is this, is this the right block of wood?
00:35:05Is there, I don't know, where, where are the carvings?
00:35:08So, it started out as a great idea, right?
00:35:12And I saw it in my head and I sketched it.
00:35:14But, um, I don't know, every time I start, I just freeze up.
00:35:18But the sketch you drew is beautiful.
00:35:23I appreciate it, but, you know, it's just a picture.
00:35:26Getting this same feeling of peace carved into wood.
00:35:30I've never done anything this important.
00:35:33It's gonna be okay.
00:35:34You know what?
00:35:35I know how busy you are with the shop and your parents.
00:35:38And you've already helped me out so much with that flyer.
00:35:40You really don't need to waste your time here.
00:35:42And honestly, you really don't want to be a part of me
00:35:44disappointing the entire congregation on Christmas Eve, so.
00:35:46No, no, you know what?
00:35:48I know what you're doing, and it's not gonna work.
00:35:51You are trying to take all the credit for this.
00:35:53You want to exclude me from getting to put my name
00:35:56on this one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
00:35:57And I'm not gonna let it happen.
00:36:02It's gonna be okay.
00:36:04Sometimes you just have to start.
00:36:06Okay, let's see this sketch.
00:36:15It is beautiful.
00:36:18Okay, it's just an idea, and you don't have to take it,
00:36:21but what if I deepened the horizon a little bit?
00:36:24Maybe painted in some cooler tones?
00:36:27I think I liked that a lot, yeah.
00:36:30I just think it could really create some beautiful contrast
00:36:33with the warm glow of the starlight.
00:36:34I don't know, what do you think?
00:36:35Like it's leading us in.
00:36:38Yeah, like it's leading us in.
00:36:43All right, what other ideas you got?
00:36:47I don't understand why I can't ask her
00:36:49if she had a nice time with William.
00:36:51Because she's a grown woman,
00:36:53and she can tell us if and when she's ready to.
00:36:56Okay, but I can focus on the project
00:36:59and see how that went.
00:37:01I can be nonchalant.
00:37:02Swashbuckler.
00:37:05It was scally wet.
00:37:06Good morning, guys.
00:37:07Oh, hi.
00:37:08You look very cheery this morning.
00:37:10I wonder, well, we were wondering how the project's going.
00:37:12Is that a new outfit?
00:37:13I love the scarf.
00:37:16Okay, William and I had a very fun time last night.
00:37:20We worked on the project for the church,
00:37:22and then he showed me some of his pieces of furniture
00:37:24that are beautiful.
00:37:26Is that what you were looking for?
00:37:29Now I'm happy.
00:37:30Okay.
00:37:31I've got to go.
00:37:33I'm going to get breakfast with Erin,
00:37:34but then I will be back to help out with everything.
00:37:36Take your time.
00:37:37Okay.
00:37:38Love you guys.
00:37:39Love you.
00:37:40You came up with that?
00:37:44I love that campaign.
00:37:47And these adorable dogs.
00:37:49I think I still buy those chips because of that commercial.
00:37:51Well, that's part of my job.
00:37:53It's what my partner and I do.
00:37:54You know, guiding people in the right direction,
00:37:56that whole thing.
00:37:56And is this partner as in?
00:37:59No.
00:38:00This is a strictly business relationship.
00:38:03And before you say anything,
00:38:05he is so happy with his girlfriend,
00:38:06who he just proposed to, by the way.
00:38:08How'd you know what I was going to say?
00:38:10Because I remember how you loved the romance books
00:38:12in the bookstore,
00:38:13and I know you too well to not know where your mind jumped to.
00:38:16This is true.
00:38:17You're a good friend.
00:38:19And I do still love a good romance novel.
00:38:22Did you see the ones we just got in?
00:38:23Of course.
00:38:24I have your mom on speed dial.
00:38:27I know it may sound ridiculous,
00:38:30but before I moved back,
00:38:31it really is that place.
00:38:33The bookstore?
00:38:34Yeah.
00:38:34Maple River Books.
00:38:35It's one of the very few independent booksellers still around.
00:38:39And I would know.
00:38:40I look for them wherever I visit.
00:38:42That place.
00:38:43It's, uh, special.
00:38:46Yeah, it is.
00:38:48Yes, anyway, speaking of,
00:38:50I should probably get back and help my mom.
00:38:53Just check in with her.
00:38:54Okay.
00:38:54I know, but I've really missed this,
00:38:56and we should do it again.
00:38:58I know.
00:38:58Me too.
00:38:59I'm sorry.
00:39:00I'm not going to the lighting of the village tonight.
00:39:01What?
00:39:02Oh, no, we're going to miss you.
00:39:03My dad is announcing,
00:39:05and he has been practicing his lines.
00:39:07It's been so cute.
00:39:08Bob, no.
00:39:10I can't believe I'm going to miss that.
00:39:11He's going to do great.
00:39:13Yeah, I think so.
00:39:14Can we, um,
00:39:15can we grab the check, please,
00:39:16when we get a chance?
00:39:17And this is on me.
00:39:18Welcome home.
00:39:18Oh, my gosh.
00:39:19Thank you, Erin.
00:39:22Welcome.
00:39:24It's in the biography section.
00:39:29Well, would you listen to this?
00:39:30These are not your usual orchestral carols.
00:39:33I am broadening my horizons.
00:39:35How was breakfast with Erin?
00:39:37It was good.
00:39:38Yeah, it was really fun to catch up with her.
00:39:40It's been a while.
00:39:41Um, where's Dad?
00:39:43He's in the back practicing for tonight.
00:39:45Wait, I thought he just had to count down to the lighting.
00:39:48He gets nervous, just wants to do a good job.
00:39:51But we'll close early so he can get down there and prepare,
00:39:53and get a bench up front for me.
00:39:55Hmm, you know,
00:39:57if you had someone to cover you two,
00:40:00then you wouldn't have to close early,
00:40:02and his first rule of marketing, consistency.
00:40:05I know that is true for the rest of the world,
00:40:07but things run differently here.
00:40:09You've just forgotten.
00:40:11Plus, the entire town's going to be down for the lighting,
00:40:13so we wouldn't have any customers anyway.
00:40:16Oh, I forgot to tell you.
00:40:20William's here.
00:40:21He's working on some things in the back.
00:40:24Oh.
00:40:25Um, well, I should probably go check on him.
00:40:28The podium, because that's what he's working on,
00:40:30so I'll go, uh, take a peek, sweet, see?
00:40:42Hi.
00:40:44Hey.
00:40:46Uh, okay, so,
00:40:47your mom's wooden wreath is ready to hang,
00:40:50and what do you think?
00:40:51It looks amazing.
00:40:54Right?
00:40:55But I hope that hasn't taken you from our other project.
00:40:58Actually, I, uh, I stayed up after you left last night
00:41:01and worked on it for hours.
00:41:04Did you?
00:41:05Yeah.
00:41:05It's not quite ready for you to start painting yet,
00:41:07but hoping by tomorrow.
00:41:09Well, just like that.
00:41:13That's some good motivation.
00:41:16Oh, um,
00:41:17I found this while I was working on the podium.
00:41:21What is this?
00:41:23Oh, this is my mom's handwriting.
00:41:26Oh, these are her readings from Christmas Story Night.
00:41:30She always finds the most beautiful stories.
00:41:33They're so poetic.
00:41:35Wait.
00:41:37What?
00:41:38I recognize this one.
00:41:39You just said the book was called The Lost Shepherd?
00:41:41Rosemary?
00:41:46Oh.
00:41:47There you are.
00:41:48Um, hey, look at this.
00:41:50Look what William did.
00:41:52All ready for story night.
00:41:53Isn't that something?
00:41:57Well, I assume you're gonna be there tonight,
00:41:59but I just wanted to ask William
00:42:01if he wanted to join us
00:42:02for the lighting of the square later.
00:42:03What?
00:42:06I'm announcing and William is a friend.
00:42:08Dad, I'm sure William has...
00:42:10I'd love to.
00:42:12If that's okay.
00:42:15Uh, yeah, sure.
00:42:17Why not?
00:42:18We're all going together.
00:42:19Awesome.
00:42:20One more rehearsal.
00:42:22I'd like to welcome everyone to...
00:42:23No, welcome to our annual lighting.
00:42:25Welcome to our annual lighting.
00:42:27Yes, that's it.
00:42:28I'll grab my purse.
00:42:35I bet you did.
00:42:36Okay, I'm so sorry that took so long.
00:42:38You would not believe that line.
00:42:41Oh, that looks so good.
00:42:43Cheers to Christmas.
00:42:44Happy Christmas.
00:42:46Be great.
00:42:47I'm gonna go get a seat.
00:42:48Okay.
00:42:50Do you need a hand?
00:42:51No, no, I'm fine.
00:42:52You two just visit.
00:42:53Okay.
00:42:57Okay, this is amazing.
00:43:00Have you never been here?
00:43:01I mean, I've walked through the village during Christmastime, but never for the lighting.
00:43:07How come?
00:43:08Christmastime is busy for custom furniture.
00:43:11I was always trying to finish a deadline or, you know, get something done.
00:43:15Plus, it's not as much fun to come alone.
00:43:21Yeah, no, I get that.
00:43:22I am usually stuck in the office, you know, tying up loose ends, which typically means staying
00:43:29late on Christmas Eve and then driving in early Christmas morning.
00:43:33What about this year?
00:43:35You gonna be able to stay for church?
00:43:38Um, not really sure yet.
00:43:40I only ask because if not, then I can take all the credit for what is sure to be a masterpiece.
00:43:47Oh, right, right, right.
00:43:49Hello, Maple River.
00:43:51I think it's about to start.
00:43:52Come on, come on, come on.
00:43:53Thank you all for coming down to help us celebrate a very special once-a-year event in our community.
00:44:00Welcome to the annual lighting of the Maple River Christmas tree.
00:44:05Woo!
00:44:07Is everyone ready?
00:44:09Yeah!
00:44:10Let's count it down together.
00:44:12Five, four, three, two, one.
00:44:19Woo!
00:44:23Christmas in Maple River is officially here.
00:44:27Right, Santa?
00:44:27Oh, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho!
00:44:32Merry Christmas.
00:44:34Um, thanks for, uh, for coming tonight.
00:44:38Well, technically it was your dad invited me.
00:44:40Only because he beat me to the punch.
00:44:43Wait, look at those muffins.
00:44:44Oh, my gosh, you owe me one after all of the work that I'm doing on the mural.
00:44:47Let's do it.
00:44:49Okay.
00:44:55Christmas count.
00:44:57Look, no results.
00:45:08Present from Santa.
00:45:23The first Christmas.
00:45:24There once was a new mother who made a long list of glitter and garland and things not to be missed.
00:45:34Her daughter just giggled and watched with delight as her mother declared,
00:45:39We'll make Christmas just right.
00:45:42They curled up with blankets and jammies and tea, and Christmas turned out perfect.
00:45:49You see, snowflakes fell, and the mom whispered low,
00:45:54This was the best first Christmas I'll ever know.
00:45:59Horrifying music
00:46:04And their children were like, no idea what they thought about.
00:46:05They threw up the transformers into her bedroom and has many but beautiful idols in the background.
00:46:09Good morning, Moe.
00:46:34Good morning, honey.
00:46:36Come on, sit down.
00:46:38Look what William found
00:46:41when he was working on the podium the other day.
00:46:44Wow.
00:46:45I grabbed them because I thought
00:46:47it could be a good marketing strategy
00:46:49to compile all the books from the authors
00:46:52who have contributed to Story Night
00:46:53and dedicate a little section to them in the bookstore.
00:46:56That's a great idea.
00:46:58I thought so too, which is why I went to research
00:47:03and try to find the books and was kind of surprised
00:47:06to discover that they don't exist?
00:47:12Mom, why didn't you tell anyone that you were the author?
00:47:16I never thought that Christmas Story Night
00:47:18would become a tradition.
00:47:22We had just opened a bookstore and we were trying to raise publicity,
00:47:24and I didn't even think my stories were very good.
00:47:28It would have looked very bad for, you know, the bookstore owner to be a horrible writer.
00:47:33But, Mom, look at these.
00:47:34They were a hit.
00:47:35Why didn't you tell anyone afterwards?
00:47:38Writing these stories was never about me.
00:47:41It was for the town and for you to always have.
00:47:46There was, um, there was one in here that I read last night.
00:47:53The first Christmas?
00:47:55Yeah.
00:47:56Was this your first one?
00:47:58I was part of a new moms group.
00:48:00Erin's mom was in it too.
00:48:02We were very excited, obviously, but we were really nervous about raising babies.
00:48:07So all of these, all of these stories were personal to the town every year.
00:48:14I always try to tell a story that gives hope and faith and maybe a little bit of love to take home at Christmas.
00:48:26Why didn't you tell me sooner?
00:48:28If I had, it would have very quickly become my story night and not ours.
00:48:44Ever since you were six years old, you've been helping me to prepare.
00:48:49And I wouldn't trade working and planning with you for anything,
00:48:53because then you, my, my brilliant marketing daughter, would have made it about me.
00:49:00And, um, I'm not complaining.
00:49:05I know that you work very hard, but if I only get you for a couple of days at Christmas time,
00:49:11I want to spend that time with you, doing what we love.
00:49:18And these last few days have reminded me that there is nothing quite like having you home.
00:49:27Oh, Mom, I love you.
00:49:31And I am so, so proud of you.
00:49:34You too, honey.
00:49:39Always with the phone.
00:49:41Everything okay?
00:49:43Yes.
00:49:44To my mom, I say, congratulations, we got another RSVP for story night.
00:49:49Um, but to my author, I say, wow, I really hope you're writing.
00:49:59No peeking.
00:50:02Sorry.
00:50:04Seriously, get back to your painting, Da Vinci.
00:50:06I can't help it.
00:50:07It's so beautiful.
00:50:08It's gonna transport them to Bethlehem.
00:50:10You really think so?
00:50:14Yeah.
00:50:15It's not even done, and already it just fills me with so much peace just looking at it.
00:50:21Wow, I, um, just painted myself, didn't I?
00:50:25Yeah, you did.
00:50:26Great.
00:50:27I got you.
00:50:36Do you want to take a break?
00:50:38Sure.
00:50:40Yeah.
00:50:41Yeah.
00:50:49You still thinking about your mom?
00:50:51You know, they should really make an instructional manual on being a kid when you're an adult.
00:50:55I'm serious.
00:50:56I mean, how to balance growing up and having your own life, but not losing that connection you had with your parents when you were young.
00:51:07And?
00:51:09And...
00:51:11It does make me take a little harder look at myself.
00:51:15I try to re-evaluate around Christmas.
00:51:18Of course you do.
00:51:19I know it sounds like a work project, but I don't know, it helps me to get perspective on where I've been and where I'm going.
00:51:28Yeah.
00:51:30It always used to be so clear.
00:51:32And this year?
00:51:37Not so much.
00:51:39Try not looking at it like a to-do to check off.
00:51:42Hey.
00:51:46I'm serious.
00:51:50Just try being still.
00:51:51Oh, speaking of to-do's, I have to go pick up the invites for story night and drop some off too.
00:52:05Oh, sorry, this is your cocoa.
00:52:07Um, but you know what?
00:52:08How would you feel about maybe bringing some of these chairs by the store tonight?
00:52:13Sure, but-
00:52:14That would be great.
00:52:15And maybe this, like, darling end table and everything too.
00:52:17Thank you for the cocoa.
00:52:21Yeah.
00:52:25So much for being still.
00:52:26Hey, uh, do you mind if I were to set these right here, maybe just in case people wanted to pick them up?
00:52:36Thank you so much.
00:52:37And then can I also grab a cappuccino from you to go?
00:52:42Jeff, hi.
00:52:44You didn't like it.
00:52:45Didn't like what?
00:52:47Uh, the new story beats for the Good Idea coffee commercial?
00:52:50I saw you them yesterday, you were supposed to review and revise?
00:52:54Right.
00:52:55Look, I'm sorry I haven't been the best sounding board recently.
00:52:58It's okay.
00:52:59I just want this presentation to be our best yet.
00:53:01No, it will be.
00:53:02And I'm gonna go over everything with a fine tooth comb, I promise.
00:53:05And if there are any inconsistencies, I will catch them.
00:53:08One more reason why I'm counting the days till you get back.
00:53:10I'll be home before you know it.
00:53:12Okay, I gotta run.
00:53:13Bye.
00:53:14Oh, I am so sorry.
00:53:24Rosemary looks like I interrupted a moment of silence.
00:53:27No, no, not at all.
00:53:28I just was, um, hanging flyers for story and I got a work call and thought I'd take a moment to clear my head.
00:53:34Yeah, the same thing happened to me about 20 years ago.
00:53:39And as you can see, I'm still here.
00:53:42Um, may I?
00:53:44Absolutely.
00:53:45Any idea on what's occupying that mind of yours?
00:53:55Oh, no, I'm, I'm good.
00:53:57It's just, um, well, that's not exactly true.
00:54:02I guess there are a few things on my mind.
00:54:04You know, I remember a young girl that would spend many a day in here, in the quiet, especially that summer before she left for college.
00:54:13And she'd tell me that she was here for stillness.
00:54:18I said that?
00:54:19Oh, I used it at least once or twice for a sermon.
00:54:24You once told me that sitting in here helped you reconnect with yourself.
00:54:29It must have worked because I felt so grounded back then.
00:54:39You still can, you know.
00:54:42But what if I find my stillness again and I'm still confused?
00:54:48And what if you're not confused?
00:54:52That's why we owe it to ourselves to have these moments.
00:54:55This is your time with God.
00:55:00To sit quietly.
00:55:04And look at your life and see what and where you want it to be.
00:55:12How's the Bethlehem mural coming along?
00:55:16It's, um...
00:55:18It's really special.
00:55:20Surprising.
00:55:21But really special.
00:55:27Well, I really look forward to seeing what you've done.
00:55:31Thanks.
00:55:34Alright, well, I'll leave you to it.
00:55:37Thanks.
00:55:51Good morning.
00:55:52Hi.
00:55:53Thank you so much for coming in so early.
00:55:55Of course.
00:55:56Happy to help.
00:55:57You did promise me breakfast though.
00:56:00Right?
00:56:01Yes.
00:56:02How can I help?
00:56:03Um, okay, so all of this furniture, I would love to arrange it in kind of like this circle.
00:56:07Maybe like a little reading nook.
00:56:09Okay.
00:56:11This is really nice.
00:56:12Where did you find these?
00:56:13Uh, William Tandy made them, actually.
00:56:16William Tandy?
00:56:17From our church?
00:56:19Saying, William Tandy, you're making a mural?
00:56:24Yes.
00:56:26Ugh.
00:56:27Just up my salary.
00:56:28I'm gonna need breakfast and the story behind that smile of yours.
00:56:32There is no story.
00:56:33We are in a bookstore.
00:56:34We're surrounded by stories.
00:56:37Um...
00:56:39Okay.
00:56:40We have been spending some time together working on the mural.
00:56:45And yeah, we have fun.
00:56:47But that's it.
00:56:48Okay?
00:56:49That's the end of it.
00:56:50End of story.
00:56:52Yeah.
00:56:53Not really feeling that.
00:56:55I think I want the longer version of the story.
00:56:57There is no longer version, Erin.
00:56:59Why don't you let me, romance book expert, decide that?
00:57:04Ugh.
00:57:08I just, I think you're gonna be disappointed.
00:57:11Indulge me.
00:57:12Erin, I own a company that I've worked so hard to build.
00:57:15I can't just walk away.
00:57:19What?
00:57:21Nobody asks you to walk away from your company.
00:57:24You say the end, I hear the beginning.
00:57:28Tell me I'm wrong.
00:57:31Um...
00:57:32I have to finish opening this door.
00:57:35How convenient.
00:57:38No fun.
00:57:39Hello?
00:57:42Oh, yeah.
00:57:43I, uh, I thought I had till the end of next week to make a decision.
00:57:48I see.
00:57:49I guess that makes sense with that many orders.
00:57:53Well, I appreciate that.
00:57:54And for the generous offer.
00:57:55All right.
00:57:56Merry Christmas to you, too.
00:57:57Forgot to ask you, how was the lighting of the square?
00:57:58Your dad said you all went together.
00:57:59Mm-hmm.
00:58:00Mm-hmm.
00:58:01Mm-hmm.
00:58:02It was lovely.
00:58:03And William was lovely.
00:58:04Because that's what you really care about.
00:58:05Mm-hmm.
00:58:06Mm-hmm.
00:58:07But I'm still going back to Philly.
00:58:38Yeah, I like a good idea.
00:58:39Because it's my world.
00:58:40Bombbug.
00:58:41I think this is how you should think about it.
00:58:43Tis the season to spread joy and to love thy neighbor.
00:58:49Well, isn't that right off of a Christmas card?
00:58:51Straight from Santa.
00:58:53I love story night.
00:58:55And I love that your mom still does it after all these years.
00:58:58Now that is a collection of stories I would want to buy.
00:59:03You know what? That just...
00:59:05That gave me an idea.
00:59:06All right. Well, before we close out our meeting, we just have a few more items.
00:59:13Next up is our new mural for the altar.
00:59:15Are you two on schedule?
00:59:17Uh, yeah. We should be done soon.
00:59:20Rosemary is extremely talented.
00:59:23Oh, please. Well, it's because I'm working with a gifted artist.
00:59:28All right. And so the last item is the Christmas Eve prayers.
00:59:32Now, I could see here that some of you have signed up, which is great.
00:59:35And for those of you who haven't, William, I'm looking at you. It's not too late.
00:59:41I'm better behind the scenes.
00:59:42Oh, no. You should absolutely do it. He'd be great. You'd be great. You should do it.
00:59:47Oh, I actually... I don't see your name either on the list, Rosemary.
00:59:50Oh, um, no. Actually, I'm not sure that I'm going to be able to make it in time for Christmas Eve.
00:59:58Oh.
00:59:58What Rosemary isn't telling everybody is that her company has a huge presentation due just before Christmas.
01:00:05It could be their biggest campaign yet.
01:00:07And Bob and I couldn't be more proud of her.
01:00:10Thanks, Mom.
01:00:11Okay. Well, thank you all for your time.
01:00:14Look, you are a part of giving Maple River what is quickly becoming an extraordinarily special Christmas Eve service this year.
01:00:21Truly, thank you all so much.
01:00:23Well, we have brownies outside.
01:00:25I say we take care of those.
01:00:27Hey, honey.
01:00:38Hey, Mom.
01:00:39Um, how you doing, honey?
01:00:43Good. Uh, finalizing the playlist for story night and checking off a few other things from the to-do list.
01:00:48Well, we appreciate everything you're doing, and, um, how's everything going with your real job?
01:00:57I haven't really been the best partner this week, but, um, you know, I'll fix it when story night's over.
01:01:05I'm sure everything will be okay.
01:01:09Hey, um, how did Erin do today?
01:01:13What do you mean?
01:01:14I mean, you said she worked with you, right?
01:01:16Oh, yeah, at the store. Um, I mean, she did great.
01:01:21She loves that place, always has, almost as much as you and Dad do.
01:01:26Why do you ask?
01:01:28Just curious.
01:01:29Okay, I'm gonna go to bed. Don't forget to get some sleep.
01:01:32Okay.
01:01:34Love you.
01:01:35Good night.
01:01:41This was the important thing you needed me for?
01:01:43Yes, well, I figured you could use a break and maybe some cookies.
01:01:47Hi, I'm picking up an order for Rosemary Brown.
01:01:51Wow.
01:01:55Can you get that?
01:01:57No, it's fine. Um, thank you so much.
01:01:59Uh, actually, I also need to place an order for a hundred more.
01:02:04One cocoa.
01:02:06Yeah.
01:02:06Um, sorry I couldn't make it over there earlier today.
01:02:11That's okay. Um, I actually finished.
01:02:14Even did some of the painting.
01:02:16Wow.
01:02:17So you really don't want to share any of the credit, do you?
01:02:20Just figured you got a lot to do before you leave.
01:02:24Right. Before I leave.
01:02:26Is that why you're not in a very festive mood?
01:02:34The company that offered me a full-time position,
01:02:37they called me yesterday.
01:02:41Jobs don't mind if I want it.
01:02:44You don't, though.
01:02:47Well, I didn't.
01:02:48But they need an answer by tomorrow, apparently.
01:02:54And honestly, uh,
01:02:57it was a lot easier to think I could start my own furniture company with you
01:03:02here in Maple River.
01:03:05But your life's not here.
01:03:10I can still help.
01:03:12You know, when I'm back home, and honestly, just wait and see what I...
01:03:15Rosemary.
01:03:15I know you mean that.
01:03:21Or at least you want to mean that.
01:03:23But when you're back in Philadelphia,
01:03:25you're not going to have time for me and my furniture company.
01:03:30You're going to be working on big campaigns.
01:03:33And I wouldn't ask that of you.
01:03:37Sorry.
01:03:39I've already declined this.
01:03:41I really have to take it.
01:03:45Yeah.
01:03:48You know what?
01:03:49I'll, um...
01:03:52I'll just see you later.
01:04:00Hey, Jeff.
01:04:00I have to take it.
01:04:18Yeah.
01:04:18Yeah.
01:04:19PIANO PLAYS
01:04:49I just took it over to the church.
01:05:12Oh, um, must look amazing.
01:05:17Pretty incredible what you can do when you just start, right?
01:05:23I should get going.
01:05:24Oh, Rosemary, wait.
01:05:26Um, about earlier.
01:05:27No, no, it's okay.
01:05:29You were just being honest.
01:05:30No, no, I...
01:05:32What I didn't say is, uh, working with you this past week has been inspiring.
01:05:42You were inspiring.
01:05:45Okay, so whether I take that job or risk starting my own business, I have sketched and designed,
01:05:51and I have had more ideas in the last week than I have had in years.
01:06:04Um...
01:06:05I...
01:06:08I really have to get to the store.
01:06:10There's, um...
01:06:12There's so much to do before story night, and, um...
01:06:16Are you gonna be there?
01:06:19Yeah.
01:06:21I'll miss it.
01:06:24Okay.
01:06:25Thank you so much.
01:06:36Mom!
01:06:37I love this new look.
01:06:39I'm feeling extra festive this year.
01:06:41And it is busy in here today.
01:06:44Yeah, it's been this way since we opened.
01:06:45We've also had more RSVP.
01:06:47Well, that is what happens when people find out that we have a talented author in town.
01:06:52I'm gonna go help some customers.
01:06:53Uh, already taken care of.
01:06:56Meet the newest employee of Maple River Books.
01:06:59Oh, my gosh.
01:07:00I'm so excited for you guys.
01:07:03Mostly because this means that you guys will be able to come visit me in Philly.
01:07:06That's the plan, right, honey?
01:07:08Yeah.
01:07:08Sitting at home and not working really gave me some free time to think.
01:07:11So, uh, I have decided to start embracing change.
01:07:16Starting with Aaron.
01:07:17Well, I've been waiting for them to ask me my entire life.
01:07:20Oh, sorry.
01:07:23Um, one second.
01:07:27Jeff?
01:07:27Oh, please don't hate me.
01:07:29Never.
01:07:31What's wrong?
01:07:32Everything okay?
01:07:33Yeah, no, everything is great, actually.
01:07:36My mom is back to normal and the Christmas rush is in full swing.
01:07:41And they even hired my friend Aaron to help.
01:07:43As in they finally have a real employee?
01:07:46I'm a real employee.
01:07:47No, you're their daughter who loves them and helps them when they need it.
01:07:51You, my friend, you own a thriving company in Philadelphia and we need you back here soon.
01:07:57How's your other friend?
01:07:59William?
01:07:59There's, uh, there's nothing to tell.
01:08:04Like you said, I own a thriving company in Philadelphia and I'm needed there.
01:08:10Um, listen, I'll, I'll get the changes back to you within the hour and I have the Christmas story event tomorrow, but I'll be back in Philly after that and we'll have plenty of time to go over the pitch before Sam gets there.
01:08:21Okay, uh, that works.
01:08:26See you soon.
01:08:27Okay.
01:08:29Bye.
01:08:29Bye.
01:08:29Well, this is your day.
01:08:46What time should we leave?
01:08:47As early as possible.
01:08:49Oh, good morning, honey.
01:08:50Morning.
01:08:51Big day.
01:08:52Thanks to you.
01:08:54Please tell me that wasn't your dinner.
01:08:56Nope.
01:08:57Breakfast.
01:08:57That's it.
01:08:59I'm making my girls a hot meal.
01:09:01Hmm.
01:09:04You want to talk about anything?
01:09:06Um, yeah, actually.
01:09:08Uh, so 9 a.m. cookies are going to be delivered and then, uh, 10, 15, I'm thinking Aaron's going to come and help me set up, which will be great.
01:09:16That's not what I was talking about.
01:09:18Um, I was talking about William.
01:09:20You know, when I started writing our Christmas stories.
01:09:24Oh, uh, I have something for you.
01:09:26Speaking of stories.
01:09:26Oh, my goodness.
01:09:30What?
01:09:37How did you do this?
01:09:39And like I said, the stories deserve to be compiled.
01:09:42And now we finally have something to show how much we appreciate you.
01:09:48I was thinking that we could start taking pre-orders in the fall and then they'll be ready to sell next year.
01:09:54As long as you promise to be here and organize everything, I'm in.
01:10:03Rosemary, I don't know what to say.
01:10:09I'm glad you like it.
01:10:19I think I'm sure that this, maybe.
01:10:21I think you don't know what to start.
01:10:23You know, I love it.
01:10:25You've written this just at a great pace.
01:10:27The rhymes are very cheap.
01:10:29I love the story.
01:10:30The cadence, the timing, the words are filling out your page.
01:10:36I'm just saying to be honest.
01:10:38Is your great every year?
01:10:39Either of you seen William?
01:10:40Uh, no, we haven't.
01:10:41I'm sure he'll be here soon.
01:10:46Okay, you ready?
01:10:47Yeah.
01:10:48You're going to be great.
01:10:50Thanks.
01:10:50Love you.
01:10:54Hi, everyone.
01:10:56Thank you all so much for joining us for another Christmas Story Night.
01:11:00My mother has been hosting this tradition for 20 years.
01:11:06But what I recently learned...
01:11:10Um...
01:11:11Uh, but I recently learned that she hasn't been reading an excerpt from the books of known authors.
01:11:22She penned every story herself.
01:11:25So, this year, as with every year, she is sharing a piece of her heart and giving it to us.
01:11:32I introduce you to my mother and author, Susan Brown.
01:11:45Oh.
01:11:48My title this year is Gifts of the Season.
01:11:54There once was a mother full of mission and lists.
01:11:59A life full of structure.
01:12:01No check marks to miss.
01:12:03She's stuck to her plans and the paths that she'd known.
01:12:08Afraid to wander where Christmas wins.
01:12:11No.
01:12:13But...
01:12:14Her daughter, now grown with a mind of her own, had taught her that change is how love is shown.
01:12:21That Christmas season, with no need for more, the best gift was her daughter there, at her door.
01:12:31And with one final glance and a kiss on her brow to her daughter, she said,
01:12:34And take the leap, start now.
01:12:39Because the best kind of gift, no matter how smart, is one wrapped in love and tied with a heart.
01:12:48To all, this Christmas, I offer this precious part.
01:12:53Take courage to follow the call of your heart.
01:12:56Merry Christmas.
01:13:00Merry Christmas, son.
01:13:12Go talk to your mom.
01:13:14Thank you guys so much for coming.
01:13:16Oh, great.
01:13:17I'm so proud of you.
01:13:18Mom, that was cute.
01:13:23I believe in you.
01:13:24Follow your heart.
01:13:29She really outdid herself.
01:13:31I'm so proud of everything.
01:13:32Oh, Rosemary, there you are.
01:13:34Do you think William would consider selling us these pieces?
01:13:36They'd make a wonderful addition around here.
01:13:39Yeah, I think he'd be honored.
01:13:42Let me just, let me go check with him.
01:13:44Okay.
01:13:44Thanks, son.
01:13:49Hi, you're here.
01:13:51I, uh, want to give you something.
01:13:55Just, uh, uh, thank you for helping me this week.
01:14:01You didn't have to do that.
01:14:04I actually had something I wanted to show you, too.
01:14:07Hey, sorry.
01:14:07Excuse me, there's someone called the store line.
01:14:10He said it's an emergency.
01:14:11His name's Jeffrey.
01:14:11I don't want to interrupt that.
01:14:13Oh.
01:14:13It was pretty urgent.
01:14:14Um, yeah, okay.
01:14:15I, I'm so sorry.
01:14:18William, can we talk to you over here for a sec?
01:14:20Yeah.
01:14:21What do you want to talk about?
01:14:23We were wondering if you would sell us some of your pieces.
01:14:31Which ones?
01:14:34All of them.
01:14:36Yeah.
01:14:36Um, yeah, yeah, that'd be, that'd be great.
01:14:46Yeah?
01:14:47Yeah.
01:14:49Yeah, thank you guys.
01:14:50That'd be great.
01:14:51You're so talented.
01:14:52I had no idea.
01:14:53When did you get back?
01:15:11Late last night.
01:15:14Sorry I had to pull you away early.
01:15:15I did try to call you.
01:15:16And text and email.
01:15:19Yeah, I know.
01:15:20I turned my phone off for the reading.
01:15:26Listen, I'm, I'm so sorry.
01:15:29I know I dropped the ball last week.
01:15:31This is not on you.
01:15:33Okay, a little on you.
01:15:34I, I'm glad you got to spend time at home.
01:15:38You've covered for this office every day since we opened.
01:15:41I just didn't want to tell Sam no when she asked to move up the meeting this morning.
01:15:45Yeah, no.
01:15:46Um, you did the right thing.
01:15:49If we want this campaign, we have to show Sam that Good Idea Coffee is our top priority.
01:15:53I actually spent the morning going over the pitch deck, and I have a new draft that I'm
01:15:57going to email you right now.
01:15:58Great.
01:15:59Um, I'll go make sure we're all set up downstairs, okay?
01:16:02Okay, cool.
01:16:02I'm going to email this to you.
01:16:03Okay.
01:16:04Hey, you okay?
01:16:09Yeah.
01:16:10Yeah.
01:16:11No, I'm good.
01:16:12Okay.
01:16:12I'm good.
01:16:13You okay, I'm good.
01:16:20I'm good.
01:16:21Okay.
01:16:21May you always be guided in the right direction.
01:16:51I'm sure it is quite the masterpiece the two of you have created.
01:17:10Thank you, Pastor.
01:17:12I never said that about anything I've made before.
01:17:14I'm really proud of this one.
01:17:16It wouldn't exist without Rosemary, though.
01:17:20Did you tell her that?
01:17:23I tried.
01:17:26I've been making custom pieces my whole life.
01:17:30This one's different.
01:17:32Hmm.
01:17:34Let's just say I've learned a lot from the experience.
01:17:38I'm sure. I'm sure.
01:17:42Any more thoughts on the job offer?
01:17:45I'm pretty sure I know which direction I'm going in.
01:17:50Any chance that direction leads you to speaking later at the service?
01:17:55You never quit, man.
01:17:56You know I don't.
01:17:58Thank you for that.
01:18:02Our goal is to show a clear message, highlighting the familiar strengths of your brand, now incorporating that good idea coffee is always there when you need it to help get you through the day.
01:18:17On brand. People need us. Is there anything you'd like to add?
01:18:27This isn't right.
01:18:29Excuse me?
01:18:30Maybe we should take a moment.
01:18:31No, I'm sorry. I know what we pitched you, but our motto has always been to guide people in the right direction. It's on everything that we do, but this isn't the right direction. And someone special to me made me realize that this past week, whether he realized it or not.
01:18:52What are you doing?
01:18:55Okay, just hear me out. Why give your customers a just-get-through-the-day if you could give them a glimpse into possibility, into what life could be like if you leaned into stillness and embraced connection with yourself and with others?
01:19:11A message that says, this is the life that I want.
01:19:15We could help people say yes to Mondays and to quiet mornings. Not by doing the exact same thing that we've always done, but by guiding people towards something better. Something more meaningful. We could invite people to step forward with us. Good idea coffee. Embracing connection and stillness.
01:19:40Well, I'm supposed to get going to hear the other pitch. But that won't be necessary. I do believe I was guided in the right direction by coming here today. The campaign is yours. I'll have contracts sent over right after Christmas. Why don't we make a date for our next meeting?
01:20:05The campaign is yours.
01:20:10Merry Christmas, everyone. Merry Christmas.
01:20:13Well, this is the moment that we've been waiting for. I'd like to present to you Bethlehem at Night by William, Tandy, and Rosemary Brown.
01:20:22Thank you both.
01:20:24Thank you both.
01:20:26It goes without saying how very grateful the church is for your remarkable talent and your time.
01:20:31Well, as our celebration continues, it is our tradition to ask a few of our members to share their prayers for Christmas.
01:20:38Erin, if you please.
01:20:40Erin, if you please.
01:20:48On this Christmas Eve, we are so very grateful for our answered prayer to become parents.
01:20:56Oh, my God, you too. That's wonderful.
01:21:00We pray for the courage to raise our child with grace, hope, faith, and love.
01:21:13Mm-hmm. Thank you, Erin.
01:21:15William.
01:21:20William.
01:21:28Just a follow-up. Congrats.
01:21:32Um, as most of you know, I, uh, I like to stay behind the scenes.
01:21:37But lately, I've been learning about taking chances.
01:21:41Mostly on myself.
01:21:43So, here it goes.
01:21:47Um, I'd like to thank God for the people who showed up in my life, even when I didn't know I needed them.
01:21:56One in particular.
01:21:59She taught me to take a chance on myself.
01:22:02This art piece was my idea, but...
01:22:08It would not have been possible without her.
01:22:12My prayer is that one day she knows what she did for me.
01:22:17For our community.
01:22:23Is there, uh, time for one more?
01:22:27Of course, Rosemary.
01:22:30I've spent a lot of years building my company, and I'm so grateful for it.
01:22:50But, um...
01:22:53Recently, my heart was open to something new.
01:22:59Well...
01:23:01Someone new.
01:23:04He taught me something I didn't realize I'd lost.
01:23:09Direction.
01:23:11And not the kind of directions you give each other, although...
01:23:16I have been known to give those as well, even if people maybe don't want to hear them.
01:23:20But, um...
01:23:22To be directed to...
01:23:24Peace.
01:23:26And joy.
01:23:28And...
01:23:30Maybe to love.
01:23:33And isn't that what Christmas is about?
01:23:36A light in the dark.
01:23:38A knowing in the stillness.
01:23:42So...
01:23:44I guess my prayer is one of gratitude.
01:23:48To God for leading me back home.
01:23:50Okay.
01:23:52Amen.
01:23:54That was beautiful, Rosemary.
01:23:57And thank you, God, for our little Christmas miracle.
01:24:00Well, I'll see some of you for Christmas service tomorrow, but for those of you traveling, have a wonderful Christmas, and I'll see you next week.
01:24:02Merry Christmas!
01:24:03That was awesome.
01:24:04Yeah.
01:24:05Merry Christmas.
01:24:06Thank you, sir.
01:24:07Thank you, John.
01:24:08Thank you, John.
01:24:09Thank you, John.
01:24:10And thank you, God, for our little Christmas miracle.
01:24:12And thank you, God, for our little Christmas miracle.
01:24:15Well, I'll see some of you for Christmas service tomorrow, but for those of you traveling, have a wonderful Christmas, and I'll see you next week.

01:24:37Not bad.
01:24:39Not bad.
01:24:41I think you missed a spot.
01:24:42Actually, I think that was your section.
01:24:43No, no.
01:24:44Great carving.
01:24:45No, I don't know if you noticed that.
01:24:46Detail.
01:24:47But do you see how the horizon really deepens?
01:24:49I think I just need to get my coat.
01:24:50Come on.
01:24:51Really?
01:24:55I'm thinking spotlight, but that might be too much.
01:24:57You can tell me.
01:25:03Thank you for what you said back there.
01:25:07Muddle up to me.
01:25:11Thank you for what you said.
01:25:13I closed the Good Idea coffee campaign.
01:25:17Congratulations.
01:25:18I kind of owe it to you, though.
01:25:21Why?
01:25:23The angel you made me, which was beautiful, by the way.
01:25:28It reminded me that my company motto has always been guiding people in the right direction.
01:25:35But somewhere along the line, I forgot that applies to me, too.
01:25:40So I made an executive decision.
01:25:42Oh, you did, huh?
01:25:44I am opening a satellite office right here in Maple River.
01:25:47And this division is going to specialize in helping people bring their dream businesses to life.
01:25:54Are you serious?
01:25:57Yeah, I think...
01:25:58I think I can make a difference here.
01:26:01I certainly know a guy who could use the help.
01:26:04You do?
01:26:06You are looking at the proud owner of William Tandy Custom Furniture.
01:26:13Oh, I'm really glad I came back.
01:26:15Because that name could use some help.
01:26:19I'm sorry.
01:26:20You know I can be a little bossy when I like an idea.
01:26:22Oh, trust me. I've noticed.
01:26:24You think you can stand spending a little bit more time with me?
01:26:29I think that sounds like the best Christmas present ever.
01:26:33Merry Christmas, William.
