00:00Tonight in Amsterdam, our commentator is John Helm.
00:05Ajax starts his firm favourites tonight and coach Louis van Gaal is in the enviable position of being able to name what's very close to a full strength side.
00:14The only absentee being Frank de Boer, two goal hero of the quarter final win over Haiduk Split.
00:20Winston Bogart is his deputy and van Gaal's only deliberation was over the striking position where he's plumped for the 18 year old Nigerian Kanu
00:29rather than the season's goal-scoring find Patrick Kluivert.
00:35Bayern's Giovanni Trampetoni isn't so fortunate, no Jean-Pierre Papin, no Emil Kostadinov and perhaps most significantly still no Lota Mateus.
00:43The side was lifted by a 5-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the weekend and their best hope for goals tonight may be number six, Christian Nehrlinger
00:51who's already contributed three during the campaign from midfield.
00:59and prove that they have the patience when they played against the Haiduk Split to prise out the defence and so unlucky here.
01:08The upright struck in the opening minutes by Kenu.
01:12It was a good try from fully 25 yards from Kenu.
01:16And he's here again now, edge of the area, and the ball will be collected this time by Sven-Shua.
01:24But here is Kanu's try.
01:27Good try as well, beat the goalkeeper, he can consider himself very unlucky.
01:32Just 18 years of age, a prodigious talent.
01:39Infield to Dubu now, and he'll look up and size the options ahead of him.
01:44And he decides that Finedi George is the best place to receive the pass.
01:48And a trip here, and a Nigerian.
01:50Just in Ziga, and he's so unlucky to miss out on World Cup selection.
01:58Just sticking out the left boot.
02:00And Finedi George, who did play in the World Cup finals for Nigeria, wins this free kick for Ajax.
02:09Overmars, over the ball.
02:10Looks though he's the one who's going to swing it in.
02:14And it's a well-placed free kick too.
02:15And Lippmannen's in there for it, and here's a chance.
02:18Rijkaard!
02:20Outside of the upright by no more than a foot, I would have thought, from Finedi George.
02:30From Seedorf.
02:31And they've Rijkaardt in there again, and here's Lippmannen.
02:35And now it's really dangerous, and has to be a goal for Lippmannen.
02:38Lippmannen, the specialist in Europe, gets that early boost that Louis van Gaal asked for.
02:48You sense the goal coming.
02:50The ball was bubbling around the Bayern Munich penalty area.
02:53Lifted in here by Clarence Seedorf.
02:56Heading on by Rijkaardt.
02:57Lippmannen, when he had the first swing of the boot, was unsuccessful.
03:01But all playing team De Boer for keeping going,
03:03and a simple enough header in the end for the finish international, Lippmannenen.
03:08And what a great time for Ajax to strike.
03:13Lippmannenen's fifth European goal of the campaign.
03:16And Ajax are on their way.
03:19Chance for Bayern Munich here to hit the equaliser, but Vitecek really snatched at that one.
03:25It was a lovely ball bisecting the entire Ajax defence.
03:29Played in here, Vitecek taking it down in one, and knows he should have done a lot better than that.
03:36Never really.
03:36A delightfully scooped pass here to De Boer.
03:39He sees Keanu in the centre.
03:41And he was rather fortunate to get the ball in the end, but crashed it against the crossbar.
03:48Louis van Aert, nicely cushioned header then from Ziegler.
03:53This is a better Bayern Munich move, and a chance here for Vitecek, and an equaliser.
03:57Gloriously constructed goal, and Marcel Vitecek with his first European goal for Bayern Munich couldn't have got it at a better time.
04:11What a response from the German champions.
04:13Try got away down the right, and Vitecek in space there.
04:20Firmly heading the ball fast.
04:22Van der Sar has brought Bayern Munich level in the match, and really deafened the cheers around the stadium.
04:30Half-time.
04:33Lippmannen does well to control the ball and wriggle away from his markers.
04:38Asks over Maas to deliver a decent cross.
04:41It's into the path of Finedi George, who strikes it well.
04:44What a fabulous goal from Finedi George.
04:49He certainly couldn't have struck it better.
04:52Smiles on the touchline, and no wonder.
04:56Delightfully laid on by Obermars.
04:59And then Lippmannen ran over the ball.
05:01The dummy was perfect, not as perfect as the shot, though.
05:04And Ajax back in front at a psychologically great moment just before half-time, thanks to Finedi George from Nigeria.
05:15And what a strike.
05:18Pick that one out.
05:19It's a first in the Champions League for the man who sent Nigeria to the World Cup Finals last summer.
05:31Just as important to go, certainly for Ajax.
05:34And it rescores the Dutch champions' advantage.
05:41What it means, as well, is that there's going to be a substitution from Bayern Munich, and their captain, Thomas Elber, has gone.
05:50His replacement being Oliver Corruzzi.
05:59Lippmannen, in it.
06:03Obermars having switched to the right, tries to get behind the full-back.
06:07Siga, it's bobbling around in there again.
06:10Here's a chance, it could be three.
06:11The keeper makes the save, importantly this time.
06:14And Schür makes two stops, and they are in real disarray back there.
06:18Keilu cursing his luck.
06:21Obermars too, foiled.
06:24But Schür, having made the two saves there, still didn't look totally convincing about any of it.
06:32Ajax so close to a third goal in this terrific first half.
06:43Obermars with the corner kick.
06:45Oh, bodies around!
06:46They've got it forward!
06:48And Ajax are surely on their way now.
06:55Wonderful moments in Amsterdam.
07:00And they swap the goal scorer.
07:02Let's have a look here, as the flick-on comes through.
07:08De Boer at the back post.
07:09Hammers the ball into the Bayern Munich net.
07:13And two goals in three stunning minutes for the Dutch champions, who are really underlining what a wonderful side they are tonight.
07:25Excellent advantage in the first 45 minutes.
07:27And Bayern Munich, it's a colossal task for them to come back against the side as good as this, in front of their own fans.
07:36And they've lost their captain and defender Helmer as well, replaced by Kurokse.
07:46Fabulous start to the second half for Ajax.
07:47And that cup final place beckons for Louis van Gaal's side now.
08:02Littmanen, scorer of the first goal in 11 minutes, gets the show on the road again in the second half.
08:09Terrific strike, the Finnish international, he's absolutely deadly from this sort of range.
08:17Six European goals for Jari Littmanen now, four goals on the night for Ajax.
08:24This right touchline, slips one nicely into the penalty area.
08:29Oh, and Vitecek has turned his man delightfully here, surely a second goal, no!
08:33I don't know if the referee was going to give a penalty there.
08:46David Blint, I think, is the one who's seen to have conceded this penalty.
09:03And it's just scraped in.
09:08My word, van der Sar almost kept the effort out.
09:12But Mehmet Schaal gets Bayern Munich's second goal,
09:16drove it straight at the keeper, got both hands to it,
09:19but it found its way into the net, and Bayern Munich had their second goal.
09:22And Littmanen, she just couldn't get it through to over Mars.
09:42Sutter.
09:45And still battling for it is Kluivert.
09:48The goal spins away, Pinedi-George knocks one in.
09:51He's still onside here, he's over Mars.
09:55This really good finish it.
09:56A brave stop.
09:57And finally hacked away.
10:00With a chance, and Kluivert in here, seeking this fifth goal.
10:04They're teeing one another up, and surely this is it.
10:06And that is definitely it.
10:09Mark Overmars puts Ajax's place in the final of the European Cup.
10:15Bayern Munich have absolutely been slaughtered here.
10:21They were queuing up for the final honours,
10:25and the coup de grace is supplied by Mark Overmars,
10:28one of the stars of the night.
10:31The Brawl, their first European final, European Cup final in 22 years.
10:36They were simply irresistible tonight.
10:39And it's going to be an appetising prospect to see them play.
