00:00Notre Dame takes on Syracuse, a 50-and-a-half total.
00:04The side, 35-and-a-half as a favor for Notre Dame.
00:08The sky is the limit on that running game today, Joe,
00:11because the one thing we do know is Notre Dame has to win as impressive as they can
00:14because if Miami wins impressive down the stretch,
00:17the committee does not want to hear Miami should be in over Notre Dame the way they're ranking them.
00:22Notre Dame has to absolutely blast Syracuse today.
00:25You would think, but, I mean, are you stepping up to the window and laying the five touchdowns?
00:29I'm not.
00:30I like the over 50-and-a-half, though, by the way.
00:31Yeah, you would think that, right?
00:33But here's the thing.
00:34The problem is Syracuse, since they went to Ricky Collins
00:38and they went to all the backups of Filardi and the rotating quarterback carousel,
00:45they have not been able to move the football consistently, right?
00:47They've been getting blown out of games.
00:49How do you control this Notre Dame two-headed monster of Jadarian Price and Jeremiah Love
00:54and now with Carr coming on with that performance?
00:57You have to keep them on the sidelines, though, Donnie.
00:59The only way they can cover this line is if they run the football, get an eight-
01:03or a nine-minute drive, similar to what they did against Miami.
01:07They cover that game by a half.
01:09I can't go to the window and lay six-and-a-half with Notre Dame.
01:14They should smash them.
01:15But if you're asking me, Joe, bet this game, I probably would take the dog.
01:20They haven't lost by more than 35 all year, Syracuse.
01:23Now let me ask you this question, too, because people watch the show and they want analysis.
01:27They want the in-game stuff and say, okay, this makes a lot of sense.
01:29But answer me this, Joe, not on paper, but understanding as a coach and as a football team.
01:34Sometimes, Joe, it's not about winning football games anymore.
01:36It's how many games you can win these games by, if that makes sense.
01:39So I see the 36-and-a-half.
01:41Hey, it's a 35-point lead.
01:43You got the ball inside the 20.
01:44Joe, they're probably pounding in another touchdown.
01:46We're back to the old BCS and AP poll days.
01:49Why?
01:50But you know why?
01:51Because we have a bunch of teams that potentially could have two losses and even three losses.
01:57We've heard that if Texas knocks off A&M, the argument is Texas should be in the playoff.
02:02Well, what if Alabama's in that mix?
02:03So you have a number of different teams right now that have to take care of business and style points matter,
02:10especially when the committee's going to be cracking eggs between Miami, Notre Dame.
02:15Is it the head-to-head?
02:16Is it the team that's playing the best right now?
02:18And you look at all of these games, including the Oklahoma game, and you say,
02:23if you're up late, you attack that last game or last touchdown on to make it look good
02:29because that would matter to the committee in a couple weeks.
02:32Now, let's flip it over, too, because as we talk about a team in Notre Dame that is fighting head-to-head basically with Miami.
02:37Why?
02:38Two losses, one team beat one team, but obviously it's when you lose.
02:41And some people watching college football now understand this.
02:44It's always been that way.
02:46Lose early, win late, you get the benefit of the doubt.
02:48And that's the way it is.
02:48But some people try to, you know, oh, well, that's not fair they did this.
02:51That's the way it is.
