00:00The award shows are like a family reunion. There's family members you know and some you
00:07hadn't met before, so that's exactly what it'll be for me in Frisco, Texas.
00:11Reba McIntyre is set to host the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards on Amazon's Prime Video
00:16this week. The iconic singer spoke to The Hollywood Reporter all about her big return
00:20to country music's party of the year, her new music, her new TV show, and much more ahead of
00:25the ceremony. McIntyre is no stranger to the ACM Awards. It's great to be back as your host.
00:31This marks her 17th time hosting the show, the most of any artist. She shared why she wanted to
00:36emcee the ceremony again this year. Well, I saw Dolly and Garth having so much fun and I hadn't
00:43hosted an award show in a while, so I thought, man, I want to do this again. And when they called and
00:48and I, you know, after watching it, it was on Amazon Prime and down in Frisco, Texas, close to my home
00:54state of Oklahoma, I thought it was the perfect time to get back in there and do it. And I was
00:59very glad and very honored that they asked me. A star-studded lineup of performers is set to take
01:04the stage during the show. McIntyre shared who she's most excited to see. Cody Johnson, I've gotten
01:10to sing with Cody, be on stage with Cody, so I'm really looking forward to seeing him again, hugging
01:14his neck. Thomas Rhett, I love him to pieces. Jelly Roll, lots of fun. Laney, Laney and I got to meet a
01:23couple of award shows back and I'm just so thrilled for her success. In addition to hosting,
01:28McIntyre is set to debut a brand new song titled, I Can't, during the ceremony. It's a song that I
01:33fell in love with the first time I heard the demo. I didn't write it, unfortunately, because I love
01:38this song so much, but it is a very strong woman song. I hope everybody enjoys it. 2024 is proving to
01:43be a busy year for McIntyre. In addition to releasing new music, hosting the ACM awards, singing the
01:49national anthem at the Super Bowl and coaching seasons 25 and 26 of The Voice, she also has a
01:54new sitcom coming to NBC called Happy's Place. She opened up about her return to the world of sitcoms.
02:00We wanted to do it right after we were canceled on The Reba Show in 2006. We've been working
02:05tirelessly trying to find the right script, the right idea. We did do Malibu Country one season with
02:12Lily Tomlin and Sarah Rue. And then we got the idea, Julie Abbott came up with the idea of Happy's
02:20Place. As for The Reba Show, all six seasons of the sitcom that aired from 2001 to 2007 just hit Netflix
02:26this month. McIntyre revealed whether or not she's prepared for a Reba resurgence and for a new
02:32generation of fans to discover the show. Oh, you bet. Absolutely. There'll be a new generation.
02:38There'll be kids coming to my concerts and their mom will say, we're going to go watch Reba sing.
02:44They'll go, no, mom, she's on TV. She's an actor. So it's really cute that the new generation can see
02:51both. The 2024 ACM awards will stream live on Prime Video on Thursday, May 16th at 8 p.m. Eastern.
02:58It's worth noting you don't need a Prime membership to watch the show live.
