00:00Nicolas Cage is in talks to star as none other than Nicolas Cage in a new metadrama.
00:05Yep, you heard that right. The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned that Cage could be headed back to the big screen in a big way,
00:12playing himself in the film the unbearable weight of massive talent.
00:16Lionsgate beating out several suitors such as HBO Max and Paramount is in final negotiations to pick up the project.
00:22If deals close, Cage would star as actor Nicolas Cage. The character is desperate to get a role in a new Tarantino movie,
00:29while also dealing with a strained relationship with his teenage daughter.
00:32He also occasionally talks to an egotistical 1990s version of himself who rides him for making too many crappy movies and for not being a star anymore.
00:40Now, the plot of the film sounds wild. Get this. The Cage character in the movie is under a mountain of debt
00:46and finds himself forced to make an appearance at the birthday party of a Mexican billionaire,
00:50who happens to be a fan of Cage's work and secretly hopes to show him a script on which he's been working.
00:55While Cage bonds with the man, he's informed by the CIA that the billionaire is actually a drug cartel kingpin,
01:01who has kidnapped the daughter of a Mexican presidential nominee. He's then recruited by the U.S. government to get intelligence.
01:07With lives on the line, Cage takes on the role of a lifetime.
01:10All I can say is wow. According to sources, the interest in the project has been so high that Cage is lining up to achieve a major payday
01:18that would put him in the same range he was in when making such studio hits as Con Air and National Treasure.
01:23I'm going to steal the Declaration of Independence.
