00:00And Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the country is ready to hold direct talks with NATO.
00:04The statement comes as Putin said the ties between Moscow and Washington will gradually improve.
00:09Speaking at an energy forum, Putin said that he has working relations with his American counterpart Joe Biden.
00:15He said that the two nations had common interest in security, stabilizing energy markets and fighting terrorism.
00:21But at the same time, Putin blamed U.S. for escalating tensions by withdrawing from international treaties.
00:27Defending Russia's military exercises, he said that it is the United States which is holding drills outside of its territory.
00:33However, Putin added that he was ready to hold direct talks with the U.S.-led military alliance NATO to resolve strategic issues.
00:42I assume that fundamental interests of the two countries are in the security area,
00:47in reducing strategic offensive weapons, fight against terrorism, money laundering, including fight against tax havens,
00:55stabilizing energy markets.
00:57These objective issues, mutual interests, will without any doubt lead to our relationship starting to improve
01:03and to American political establishments stopping speculations around Russian-American relationship
01:09at the expense of their own interests, at the expense of their companies.
01:16Putin also offered his comments this year's co-winner of Nobel Peace Prize.
01:21Russian journalist Dmitry Muratov received the top honor.
01:26His newspaper has done investigative reports critical of the Kremlin.
01:30Putin had a word of caution for Muratov.
01:32He said that the journalist should not use the Nobel as a shield and must obey Russian law.
01:37After winning the award, Muratov had said that he was worried that he will be labeled as a foreign agent.
01:43If he does not violate Russian law, and if he does not give a reason to be declared a foreign agent,
01:53then he will not be.
01:55If he tries hiding behind the Nobel Prize, using it as a shield to violate Russian law,
02:01then he will be doing it deliberately to attract attention to himself or some other reason.
