00:00Welcome to the after show, ladies and gentlemen.
00:02Melissa will not shut up about this damn wicked movie.
00:06Listen, I was waiting for it for a whole year.
00:09It finally came out.
00:10I saw it as of the recording of this video.
00:13I got to see it a couple days before it was actually released.
00:18Elphaba dies at the end.
00:19Will you shut up?
00:20There's more to it.
00:22There's more to it that I was actually surprised about.
00:25But you didn't enjoy it as much as the first one.
00:28I loved the movie.
00:29I thought it was a completely different type of movie.
00:32It's hard to compare.
00:33But I like fun, optimistic, like playful movies more than I like super dark movies.
00:43And I feel like the sequel was very dark.
00:45So if you're asking me to say which one I liked better, I would say I like the first one better.
00:51But I feel like it's rare that any sequel is better than the original.
00:57I mean, there's examples.
01:00And I know we've talked about this before.
01:02I know, Romero and Leroy, you have one in particular that I can think of off the top of my head that I disagree with you about.
01:08I'm writing down my answers right now.
01:10Yeah.
01:10See, well, it's different because people used to make movies and just leave it at that.
01:19And then if it got really successful, they were like, all right, let's make a sequel versus Jesus.
01:27I can't even think.
01:28Maybe Homeboy with Star Wars.
01:32Not even Terminator.
01:36He didn't even play in part two.
01:38That was the one that I was thinking of.
01:40Yeah.
01:40You guys liked part two better than part one.
01:43I like part one just because it's the original and told and set up the whole story.
01:48Yeah.
01:48So now people are doing movies planning sequels, which annoys the piss out of me because, okay, Wicked was good.
01:58It was successful.
01:59But there was a time and it's all, you know whose fault it is?
02:03The Marvel Cinematic Universe.
02:04No, I'm not even joking.
02:07It's their fault all the time.
02:08No, no, no.
02:08Because when they did what they did, which was, it was revolutionary.
02:13It wasn't just like, hey, we're going to do a sequel.
02:16They said we're going to do a franchise of movies that are all connecting to this big thing that's going to pay off in freaking 10 years later.
02:27That's never been done before.
02:28And when they did that, so many people tried to do the same recipe and failed.
02:33DC, obviously, they tried to blow their load in one movie and do like six movies worth of stuff.
02:41You know, something that took Marvel like four or five years.
02:44They tried to do it in like one movie, which sucks.
02:46But, you know, do you know, Leroy, did you know this?
02:49The Godzilla, King Kong, The Mummy.
02:59They were trying to connect all those into like a horror franchise.
03:07And you can't, you just got to let it kind of happen.
03:10And then after that, they haven't done it.
03:12I don't think that they haven't done it yet.
03:15I don't know if they're still working on it.
03:16They were trying to create a, I believe, Hasbro or Mattel, one of those toy companies is like, you know what?
03:28Why don't we just release a bunch of different toy movies and connect it into one big giant franchise?
03:33Why?
03:34No.
03:34Why not just make one movie and see if it hits?
03:38But I think a lot depends on like the source material.
03:43You know what I mean?
03:44If there's like if it's based on a book, like when you think about like the Harry Potter series, if you have like books to base it on and you know what the story is going to be, I think they're usually better that way.
04:00And I think with, you know, it's the Marvel movies are based on comics, right?
04:04Yeah.
04:04So a lot of times, you know what it is.
04:07And I think that that can add to it where I think sequels go wrong when it's solely for money.
04:14Like when you're like, OK, let's do this because this did well.
04:19You know, I think there was a requirement for a certain actor to fulfill these movies.
04:23So let's just throw them this one.
04:25Something, something, you know, always misses.
04:28Like, I'm curious about the, you know, how K-pop Demon Hunters was like the biggest thing on Netflix.
04:36Part 2, 2029.
04:37And Part 2 is coming.
04:38And I know, I think.
04:40Four years away?
04:42Mm-hmm.
04:42Yeah.
04:43Well, three and a half technically, but.
04:45Some people are going to be like not into it depending on their age.
04:49Right.
04:49They're not going to be as.
04:51Right.
04:51I don't know.
04:53I just wonder, you know, I'm curious about the story.
04:58I think it has the potential to be good, but, you know, I don't know.
05:03It depends.
05:03It's just, is it just like a money grabber?
05:06They're really going to put the, you know, effort into it.
05:09And if it's four years away, then.
05:10Right.
05:11They probably will.
05:13Well, think about specifics now.
05:15Throw out a couple of movies that you feel like the sequel was better than the original.
05:19Toy Story.
05:20I got that.
05:20I said every Toy Story after the first one.
05:22Yeah.
05:22Wow.
05:23I mean, it was good, but it was, you know, the other ones were phenomenal.
05:27And the first one was amazing.
05:28Okay.
05:28But they did get better.
05:30Interesting.
05:30I think that way.
05:31By the way, I saw the trailer for Toy Story 5.
05:34Mm-hmm.
05:35How, at what point does Woody get back with the crew?
05:39I don't know.
05:40They need to explain that.
05:41I thought that.
05:42It was so funny because I thought Toy Story 3 was like a perfect ending.
05:45Yes, I agree.
05:46Then Toy Story 4 happened.
05:47And I was like, okay, okay.
05:49I forgive you.
05:49This was a really good ending.
05:50And now I'm like, I've seen Toy Story 5, and it was like, it's going to be a good story.
05:543 was with Lotso?
05:55Yeah.
05:56Mm-hmm.
05:57Yeah, that was, yeah.
05:58Yo, when you thought they were all going to die in the incinerator.
06:00That's right.
06:01That's another conversation to have for another video is series and movies that you think
06:07have gone too far.
06:08Like, that you feel like have good endings, but then they keep going, and you're like,
06:12what are you doing?
06:13Like, you should have ended it here.
06:15There's been a ton of those.
06:15Like Grey's Anatomy.
06:17Yeah.
06:17Oh, my God.
06:17They should have ended 10 years ago.
06:19Oh, my God.
06:20Can I throw?
06:20I got a list.
06:21I can just throw them out.
06:22All right.
06:22So, we already said T2.
06:24Sister Act 2.
06:25I'm sorry.
06:26Sister Act 1, I don't even want to watch because Sister Act 2 is so good.
06:30Okay.
06:31I thought you were saying, for some reason, I thought you were saying it wasn't as good.
06:33No.
06:34Sister Act 2 is better than Sister Act.
06:36Bravo to that.
06:36The Dark Knight is better than Batman Begins.
06:41That's better.
06:42Aliens.
06:43I have to go back and think about it.
06:47Oh, my God.
06:48All I remember is the way Alien Part 1 ended, which was cool as hell.
06:51Yeah.
06:52But then Part 2 takes it to a whole new level.
06:54Okay.
06:55Kill Bill, Volume 2.
06:57Oh, my God.
06:58I love that more.
06:59I saw those.
07:00Real quick.
07:01You see that they released an Aliens on Earth?
07:04Yes.
07:04Yes.
07:05They said it was mad good.
07:06I haven't seen it yet, but they said it was really good.
07:08And then these are a little bit whatever, but I thought Ace Ventura, Pet Detective, When
07:13Nature Calls, is better than the first one.
07:15Did y'all see that one?
07:17That is hilarious.
07:20Incredibles 2.
07:22Oh, yeah.
07:22And then for people who know me, a lot of people have The Godfather 2 better than The
07:29Godfather.
07:30I don't, but I know that's a debate, so I'll just mention that.
07:34Yeah, I've seen that mentioned a lot.
07:35Oh, I love The Godfather, the first one, I think is better than Godfather 2, even though
07:39Godfather 2 is great, but yes, had to put that out there.
07:42Can I throw out a non-traditional one?
07:44Like when you think about sequels, you think about like the movie and then like part two,
07:48three, four, and five.
07:50This one is, it's more of like a franchise per se.
07:55It's not necessarily a continuation of the previous movies.
07:58You'll know what I mean when I say the name of it.
08:01Christmas Vacation.
08:01Christmas Vacation was better than the original Vacation.
08:05Oh, yeah.
08:06Do you know what I'm saying?
08:07Yes, yes.
08:07They had European Vacation, which was also really good.
08:10Vegas Vacation, Christmas Vacation, and I think Christmas Vacation is the best one out
08:14of all of them.
08:14It was.
08:15That's like, that's on my list to watch every-
08:16Do you consider that a sequel?
08:18Yeah, but a different-
08:19It's not like your traditional sense of a sequel.
08:21Yes, yes.
08:22A different type of like, yeah, like you said, it's more of like a franchise.
08:25Like they keep doing it in different ways.
08:27Right, and there's different actors that play the kids, which I think is funny too.
08:30Yeah, Christmas Vacation, that's on my list of Christmas movies, like legendary Christmas
08:35movies that we watch every year.
08:37There was another sequel that I saw that I said is definitely better than the first,
08:42and now I can't think of which.
08:43Oh, Pebbs, you wouldn't have seen this.
08:46You guys are going to laugh at me because it's very old, and it's an older form of the
08:52franchise, and you're going to think I'm crazy, but Superman 2 from 1989.
08:58Wait, wait, wait.
08:59Superman 2 was with Zod.
09:00Zod.
09:01Yeah, yeah.
09:01Better than the original.
09:02Yeah, it's better than the original.
09:04Neil before Zod.
09:06Oh, that's way back in the day.
09:07I know.
09:08It was from 1989.
09:08I know I'm showing you.
09:09That's the one where he gave up his powers?
09:11Yes.
09:11Like an idiot.
09:13I was so mad as a kid.
09:14Like, what are you doing?
09:16Can we really quickly, I don't want to go too deep into this, but just a thing.
09:21Why was Lois Lane praised?
09:23She was a bitch.
09:25She was.
09:25Her whole thing was, you got Clark Kent, who's hitting on her and loves her, and she doesn't
09:32want anything to do with him until she finds out he's Superman.
09:35Yeah.
09:35And then it's all of a sudden, I'm in love with you.
09:37Sit your ass down.
09:39Sit down.
09:39And you see why guys are confused.
09:41Yes.
09:41And he's a super simp.
09:42That's what he said.
09:43He's a super simp.
09:44That's why you all are confused?
09:46Yeah.
09:46We're like, all right, so we got to be the tough guy and all that stuff.
09:49And now women are like, no, we want the Clark Kent.
09:51And it's like, well, back in the day, she pissed on Clark Kent.
09:56She did?
09:57Yeah.
09:57That whole thing made me so mad.
10:00I'm like, why am I the only one that sees this?
10:02It made me so mad.
10:03I don't even think I saw him.
10:05Really good, Kebs.
10:06Wait, real quick.
10:07You know what other part of that movie makes me mad?
10:10It's when Superman gives up his powers and he gets beat up by the guy at the truck.
10:13At the diner.
10:16Yeah, but then he got him back.
10:17Yeah, he got him back.
10:18But it's like, why in the world?
10:21Love is beautiful.
10:22I'm not giving up my superpowers for potential love.
10:26She, like you said, Lois wasn't even legit with it.
10:29Leroy.
10:30And by the way, real quick, let me finish this thought before you come in.
10:35You know damn right well, if that had continued without him and his powers, she would have left him in a month.
10:41Think about it.
10:42She would have.
10:43It was all well and good.
10:44It's not a bad example for us, young and watching.
10:47Yep.
10:47Sorry.
10:48You got to be extra special.
10:49I was just going to say, vagina's undefeated.
10:51It just goes along with what I've always said.
10:53This dude gave up his superpowers for a girl who, let's be honest, was really a bitch.
11:01She wasn't that good looking.
11:03You know what I'm saying?
11:04She treated him like crap.
11:06She sure did.
11:07And he gave up his powers for that.
11:09He's just like, no, I don't want to be the most powerful being in the world who can have any woman in the world.
11:13I'm giving it all up for you.
11:15Yeah.
11:16Gets his ass kicked in a die.
11:17All of a sudden he forgets how to fight.
11:18You've been throwing punches for years.
11:19Right.
11:20Right.
11:21But he doesn't know how to take a punch.
11:22That made me so mad.
11:24Pebbles, you did mention the Harry Potter series.
11:26That kind of probably started the whole franchise type of situation, though.
11:31And you know what else they did?
11:33And I don't know if anyone else did this before them.
11:36You know how the last movie was split into two parts?
11:40Yes.
11:40Yes.
11:40Like, I think that might have been one of the first ones that did that, too.
11:44Because I know Twilight did that.
11:46But that was a money grab.
11:48But yeah, like now we're used to it.
11:51And depending on your age, you're probably like, all you might know is movies ending and to be continued.
11:57Back in the day, if a movie ended to be continued, you'd be walking.
11:59Even if it was the most amazing movie ever, you're walking out of that movie theater pissed.
12:03Yes.
12:03What do you mean to be continued?
12:04This ain't a TV show.
12:06It's a movie.
12:07You know what I'm saying?
12:08Real quick, because it's more recent.
12:11The Spider-Verse one.
12:12Oh, my God.
12:13Part two is.
12:14The first one's great.
12:16Part two just goes to a whole new movie.
12:18That was.
12:20And part one, I would give it an A+.
12:22Yeah.
12:23And somehow part two is an A+.
12:25Plus.
12:25Yeah.
12:26I was in the theater screaming no at the end.
12:29Yes.
12:29Like, no.
12:30Yes.
12:30No.
12:31It's so funny because I'll calculate.
12:34I could look at my phone.
12:36But, like, I play a game with myself when I'm watching a movie where, like, I try and
12:40calculate how long the movie's been on and how many storylines need to be resolved.
12:45And I remember when that movie, I wasn't looking at my phone and I was like, yo, this movie's
12:49been on for a good amount of time and we still got to do this, this.
12:54Like, there was, like, four things.
12:56Four things that you had to resolve.
12:57And all of a sudden, boom, to be continued.
13:00You were like, no.
13:02Did any of you see The Hunger Games?
13:05No.
13:05I saw it recently with my kids for the first time.
13:07It's really good.
13:08Second one is better?
13:10I would have a hard time.
13:13I don't know.
13:13It's hard for me a lot of times.
13:17And I think this about, forgive me, the Twilight movies.
13:20There's something about the first one when you're introduced to the characters and you
13:25meet the actors that, you know, when they continue, I don't know.
13:30Sometimes my heart's just always with the first one, like Black Panther.
13:35Like, I don't, nothing will ever beat the first one for me because Chadwick Boseman and
13:42just being that first introduction.
13:44I don't know.
13:46There is some, I don't know.
13:47Some sequels do it, but other times it's like, I don't know.
13:51Oh, some BTS pebbles.
13:52Not the Asian dudes.
13:53What?
13:56Behind the scenes.
13:57Oh.
13:58I'm like, what are you talking about?
14:00We get to talk about BTS?
14:01What?
14:01Wow.
14:02We gotta run the EAS test.
14:04Oh, okay.
14:06The thing that, like, if there was ever an emergency, like, would tell you what to-
14:09No one's gonna pay attention to?
14:11Yeah, that one.
14:13It's true.
14:14How many times do you hear that?
14:15This is a test of the emergency.
14:16And you just, like, tune it out.
14:18Can we talk about BTS one day?
14:21Absolutely.
14:21I'm busy that day.
14:23Trying to think of the day I'm on vacation.
14:25Yeah, absolutely.
14:27All right.
14:27Thanks for listening.
