Arne Slot: Diogo Jota loss still affecting Liverpool players but is not ‘excuse’

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot admits it is impossible to measure the impact the grief over Diogo Jota’s death has had on his team-mates but they will never use it as an excuse for poor results.

00:00Are you guys being fairly judged given the raw emotion that you still carry with regard to the impact?

00:06I know that it is an issue for us, which is something completely normal.

00:12I think it's good for us to remind him every time possible because of, like I said, the person and the player he was.

00:19But it's impossible to measure what it does to the players and then to measure what it does to our results.

00:29So the last thing I would do is to use it as an excuse because I simply don't know.

00:35What I do know is that we miss the player. That's 100% sure.

00:39And we also miss the person, but I cannot measure what that has an impact on our performances, let alone on our results.

00:48So that's impossible for me to say. And we will never use it as an excuse because that doesn't feel right.
