00:00you've probably seen a robot that looks quite similar to this one before however this one isn't
00:08helping police or rescue workers in dangerous areas this is the new prototype from the university of
00:13glasgow and it's being developed to help the blind the robot is equipped with myriad sensors
00:18which effectively let it map any area in real time it can then relay that information to a human
00:23allowing them to navigate any terrain without the use of their eyes this is a huge step from
00:28conventional bots you may have seen already as the researchers say some often rely on gps tracking
00:33which is good outdoors but incomplete inside and others rely on cameras however those are limited
00:38by line of sight meaning they have trouble helping the blind around objects and corners this robo
00:43seeing eye dog however uses a series of sensors coupled with its sophisticated artificial intelligence
00:49to both see the world around it and interpret that information this is a whole lot like what a
00:53biological seeing eye dog might do however this ai powered robo dog can provide more detailed and
00:58easily understandable data for its user providing verbal communication rather than barks or trained
01:04responses its developers say this could revolutionize the way blind individuals move around the world
01:09bringing support to the 2.2 billion people around the globe with vision loss
