00:01Once known as one of the most aggressive opponents of lifting the Caesar Act,
00:05U.S. Congressman Brian Mast has shifted his stance,
00:09now supporting the end of broad sanctions on Syria,
00:13removing what many considered the final barrier to closing a dark chapter for Damascus
00:18after the fall of the Al-Assad regime.
00:22Brian Mast, Republican lawmaker and chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee,
00:27announced he is willing to support lifting wide-ranging sanctions on Syria.
00:32However, he conditioned his approval to adding new provisions that would impose penalties
00:37if the Syrian government fails to meet specific requirements.
00:42The sanctions framework had been regarded as one of the strictest global sanctions systems,
00:48heavily restricting financial dealings with the Al-Assad-era government
00:52and punishing any state or entity that conducts business with Damascus
00:57due to widespread human rights violations, systematic killings, and mass arrests.
01:04Supporters of fully lifting the sanctions argue that partial or conditional removal
01:08will deter U.S. companies and allies from investing in Syria,
01:13fearing they could come under sudden American penalties at any moment.
01:17Because of theсем-r contract, this force has become a major disgrace,
01:18but to become a major inefficiency of the United States if it continues to
01:20be with the negotiations.
01:21That's the question.
01:22If you need help, little bit longer, these sanctions are not required.
01:26If you want to take a toll on the United States,
01:27it's a bit more necessary for the need to take place.
01:30So thank you for your support.
01:34I'm my host, my question.
