00:06Mail under arrest and suspicion of robbery.

00:09We had a report of an armed robbery.

00:12The victims called police in a very distressed manner.

00:15A threat was made that they were going to be stabbed

00:17had they not handed over their phones and wallets.

00:19And these guys, one on the bicycle was like cornering us.

00:23Give me a phone and wallet, that's all I need,

00:25or else I'm going to stab you.

00:27One of them had a Santander bike, the other was on foot.

00:30One person would stop the victim with the bike

00:32and threaten to stab them with what they stated was a knife or machetes.

00:36We were the first unit to respond.

00:38We drove on that road, switched off the emergency equipment,

00:41the lights and the sirens,

00:42and we had the victims who called us in the back of our car

00:45conducting what we call a street ID.

00:47He pointed them out and said, yes, that's them.

00:49Both suspects made off.

00:51One immediately surrendered himself to my colleague

00:53whilst the one I was chasing ran away.

00:56Although I knew there was a high possibility that this person was armed with a knife,

01:00in my head my concern was he's a risk to other members of the public.

01:04This person needs to be stopped straight away.

01:06I started giving chase after him.

01:09He then turned around towards me and stated that he wanted to fight me,

01:13didn't want to be arrested.

01:15At this point I've taken a step back and delivered Parva,

01:17which is an irritant spray.

01:19He's turned around the corner.

01:20I've seen what I believe him pulling out a knife,

01:22run past two females,

01:24got closer to him where I delivered a leg strike.

01:27I've then detained him and arrested him on suspicion of robbery.

01:31Now I'm under arrest and suspicion of robbery.

01:34On CCTV, when it is slowed down you can see him throwing the knife into the basement.

01:39Yeah.

01:48CCTV later does a playback whilst we're on scene

01:51and identifies that both suspects had disposed of all the items that had stolen

01:55from the victims in the bins.

01:57We found numerous mobile phones, a watch and a wallet.

02:02Calls like this are exactly why I joined the job.

02:05Both suspects were arrested.

02:06It was clear that they had no fear of any consequence

02:09and they weren't scared of the law

02:11and someone, thankfully us that night, had to put a stop to it.
