00:00We are at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, at Lorikeet Landing, where we have doubled our flot.
00:14We now have 73 Lorikeets on exhibit.
00:23Right now I am feeding the Lorikeets the nectar.
00:26You can come experience nectar feeding.
00:30Just purchase a cup and you can have birds landing on you, on your head, on your arms, just like this.
00:42The birds are crystallizing very well.
00:45They are just playing to each other.
00:47They are playing with their new toys together.
00:49They are actually getting along very well.
00:52Now that we have all these new birds here, the appetites are staying pretty consistent.
00:57So guests can come in and usually have at least five birds on them at one time.
01:02It's very great.
01:03And the birds love it.
01:05They love interacting with the public.
01:07It's a really great experience.
01:08Nectar is a balanced diet specifically made for Lorikeets.
01:12Lorikeets do live in large flocks and they are very social birds.
01:17Lorikeets can live an average of 25 years.
01:21We actually have a 20 year old Lorikeet on exhibit right now.
01:26And in this exhibit we have ranging from 4 months old to 20 years old.
01:32Something you may not know about Lorikeets is they actually have a tongue with a brush-like tip to it.
01:38It's designed to dip their tongue right into the flowers to sip up the nectar and the flowers.
01:49The best time to come to feed is right at 10 o'clock in the morning.
01:53The birds are waiting for you.
01:55They can't wait to see you.
