00:00Stay laser-focused on efficiency while investing in people, technology and AI.
00:17Hello and a very warm welcome to a special edition of Energy Frontiers
00:22brought to you from the biggest energy exhibition and conference in the world.
00:26It's ADIPEC 2025.
00:30Global leaders from right across the energy value chain have gathered here to build more
00:38robust and resilient energy systems, harnessing the full power of data, AI, innovation and
00:43collaboration.
00:45ADIPEC broke records this year, attracting around 240,000 visitors and generating $46 billion
00:52in deals, including major upstream and LNG agreements.
00:56Industry leaders signaled oil demand would remain above 100 million barrels a day beyond
01:022040, but warned that underinvestment threatened future supply.
01:07ADNOC CEO Dr. Sultan El-Jabba said investment of more than $4 trillion a year was needed in
01:14grids, data centers and infrastructure to meet rising demand.
01:18This year's theme, energy, intelligence, impact, focused on system resilience and the growing
01:24role of AI and digital solutions across the energy sector.
01:28And Azerbaijan state energy company Socar was amongst those highlighting how energy is reshaping
01:34exploration and production.
01:36I felt like the whole oil and gas industry didn't even scratch the surface as far as
01:41it comes to digitalization.
01:42So I want to mention three projects we launched ourselves.
01:45So one is the methane AI platform, Rebecca.
01:49Our Socar Green segment, they signed an agreement with the satellite companies that they monitor
01:56Socar-operated fields and a ton of data on emissions get captured there.
02:00Second, we launched drone campaign and actually again on offshore our own fields and already
02:07captured over hundreds of the fugitive emission projects have been launched and executed and
02:14completed.
02:16And the third project I want to mention would be a digital twin.
02:20So UMID is our gas field.
02:22We operate ourselves offshore gas field and we are right now gearing up to the full field
02:27development right now, Rebecca.
02:29How is Socar balancing production growth with the energy transition?
02:33And also, what are your plans for sustaining output from mature fields whilst also exploring
02:38new ones?
02:39So Socar is not shy that we're supporting oil and gas activities.
02:43And our goal there is to enhance our production from our conventional oil and gas field, such
02:49as ACG.
02:50But at the same time, Socar put ambitious targets on itself, achieve near zero methane emission
02:56by 2035.
02:57We are launching a large number of incremental projects.
03:00What does the project do?
03:01They add additional production on top of the base, which will stabilize the production plateau.
03:06So at the same time, we are also looking into infrastructure-led development and production.
03:12Casing point is a Garabakh project.
03:14It's oil project.
03:15We work with BP, but it's infrastructure-led development.
03:19You can think about natural consequences.
03:21It's going to reduce the capex.
03:22We all know that.
03:23It's going to help us to bring production early.
03:25But the key point to answer your question is carbon footprint.
03:29So what happens, Rebecca, is you do not need to put large infrastructure offshore, and what
03:34it does, it reduces carbon footprint.
03:36Now, switching to the second fold of the strategy is gas development.
03:41Abshoron is actually led by Total Energies.
03:44We've got our partner, XRG, as well, joining in Azerbaijan.
03:47Very happy to have them.
03:48But what's happening is, along your normal KPIs, such as IRR of the project, capex intensity,
03:55production, obviously output from the project as a gas, we have implemented carbon footprint
04:01measurements.
04:02Deals at ADIPEC this year reflected growing UAE-Azerbaijan cooperation with Dragon Oil's
04:10new partnership with SOCAR, BP's transition and upstream talks, plus a planned stake in
04:17the Southern Gas Corridor by ADNOC's energy arm, XRG.
04:23AIQ, the Abu Dhabi company backed by ADNOC and Presite, which develops AI solutions across
04:29the energy value chain, spoke to energy frontiers about their strategic expansion in the Caspian
04:35region, and how its technology, designed to slash emissions and boost safety, could benefit
04:41Azerbaijan.
04:43Ali, when it comes to AI, it's been much discussed, as it should be, here at ADIPEC 2025.
04:48How do you believe your solutions are helping energy majors become more efficient and lower
04:54their costs across the board?
04:55I think for us, what we did, we really focused where the ask is.
05:01We focused at the asset level.
05:03You know, people really focus on saying, hey, you need the associated infrastructure to start
05:07with.
05:07That's not true.
05:09You really need to understand, at the asset level, where's the problem?
05:12If it's on the wellhead, if it's on the rig site, if it's on any associated asset, we'll
05:17say, hey, what is that problem?
05:18What is the specific use case we're trying to address?
05:21How much data is available for us to evaluate that data and build a solution around that
05:26as well to drive that optimization?
05:29We have 14 solutions to date across the entire value chain itself, right?
05:34The upstream, midstream models.
05:36And which ones in particular will help accelerate the energy transition for companies?
05:39We have a solution that's called RoboWell that sits on top of the wellhead itself that provides
05:46asset optimization and stabilization of your well and increases your production.
05:53So when you think of saying, hey, we want to drive transition across the energy sector,
05:58this is the first of a kind autonomous solution that we've created that now you actually can
06:03do it much more sustainable, much more efficient, and without having to send personnel from HSE point
06:08to another solution I would highlight as well is another one that's called SmartEye, which
06:12really looks at video analytics around safety of personnel on site.
06:18That again drives much more productivity on site to ensure that you're identifying any associated
06:23compliance elements from a safety, from whether it's a slip and fall, whether it's associated,
06:29hey, the individual is going into a no-go zone.
06:32It sends these alerts and alarms real-time to the command centers, so actions are taken
06:37even before the event occurs.
06:39You have expansion plans from outside of your base here in the UAE.
06:43You're eyeing the CIS.
06:44Tell me more.
06:45We've had quite a few MOUs that we've signed across the CIS region, be it in Kazakhstan or
06:52even in Azerbaijan.
06:53We've had many conversations with Sokar itself.
06:56You saw the announcements of the investment and stake from XRG in the Southern Corridor
07:03within the Caspian itself.
07:04The market there is really ripe for us, and we're expanding our capabilities in it, whether
07:10it's PreSite, our parent company, or even whether it's AIQ now, we've got a very well-established
07:17setup there.
07:18That is a great market for us.
07:20We're continuing to have conversations.
07:21We're continuing to ensure that we can look to deploy our solutions, because to fit the
07:25purpose that we've got in terms of our solutions, they're great here, but the environment there
07:30is very different, and we've got solutions that actually can be adapted and tweaked to
07:34fit those environments as well.
07:36Thank you so much for your time.
07:37Thank you very much.
07:42Well, that wraps up our special edition of Energy Frontiers, brought to you from the
07:46biggest energy exhibition and conference in the world, ADIPEC 2025.
07:50I'll see you again soon, but for now, goodbye from me and my AI robotic friend.
