A near-stampede at Kerala’s Sabarimala Temple on the first day of the Mandala season turned tragic as a 58-year-old woman died after suffering a heart attack amid the massive rush, while on her way to the Temple. Nearly 1 lakh devotees arrived within 48 hours, overwhelming entry routes as darshan opened for the season. Central forces were deployed to manage the swelling crowds, and the situation gradually eased as footfall reduced over the next days, preventing further casualties and restoring orderly movement.
