00:00So this is classic Jennie Cho of going and finding wigs the day of, cutting, dyeing them.
00:07After she had already toned and colored this other wig, the platinum blonde, like leading up to this.
00:13Hi, I'm Jennie Cho.
00:15Hi, I'm Greta Lee.
00:16Hi, I'm Nina Park.
00:18And we are on set of our Hollywood Reporter cover shoot.
00:30I feel like maybe what people don't know, it's like, it looks like all fun and games, maybe, but it's, it's serious.
00:38I really appreciate how much you guys consider.
00:41There's so much work and thought that goes into every look, truly.
00:44I mean, different references, there's so much back and forth.
00:47It's so collaborative.
00:48I mean, for hair, I feel like we have gone through so many different stages of her different haircuts.
01:01Yeah, my hair grows fast.
01:03You had a pixie haircut at one point and then it was the growing out process of that.
01:08We did different looks on it.
01:09And now for the first time, she was showing her long hair.
01:13Yeah, so we use some pieces.
01:16These ladies are trying to get me in bangs.
01:18No.
01:19It was a hurting joke.
01:20For months.
01:21I made it without getting me in the bun bangs.
01:23She has baked.
01:24Just barely though.
01:25Even today, I thought it was coming.
01:26This year.
01:27We still have next year.
01:28In our sleep.
01:29Exactly.
01:30What Nina does with my face, she somehow is able to really celebrate.
01:36Oh my gosh.
01:37Yeah.
01:38If I cry, that'd be so weird.
01:39That would be so weird.
01:40Don't cry.
01:41I'm not gonna cry.
01:42Forget it.
01:43Yeah.
01:44I'm like you either.
01:45How much you can take someone's face and really celebrate exactly who they are and what someone
01:52naturally, what their features are.
01:54It's uncanny for myself to look in the mirror and feel like, oh my gosh.
01:58I don't know what just happened with all your little sticks and your little, I don't know.
02:03But it's really amazing what you do.
02:06Truly, truly so talented.
02:08I mean, you too.
02:09You're like a surgeon with hair.
02:11No, but her makeup really is like, she really does bring the best.
02:15Yeah.
02:16Of who you are.
02:17It's really, it's amazing.
02:19I feel like I can only do that if I have such care for the person and really believe
02:24in, I don't know.
02:25You mean care for me?
02:26Yeah.
02:27I really care for you.
02:28She's right now on camera.
02:30But I feel like it comes out and you can't help but have it show.
02:33Yeah.
02:34You inspire us all the time.
02:35Exactly.
02:36Thanks.
02:37It does start from her.
02:38Yeah.
02:39But I want to point out though, like being Korean and being Korean American, there are
02:43certain things growing up that we talk about all the time, like certain ideals and different
02:49traits that were like great things to have and not so great things to have, quote unquote,
02:54for me.
02:55Like my skin tone, like I am a tan Korean and growing up that was like not acceptable.
03:01But Nina's really able to embrace like the truth of who I've always been in this way that
03:06I never expected.
03:07It's such a healing thing to have someone do your makeup.
03:11If some of your features are lost, like freckles, she goes back and puts them back in.
03:16Yeah.
03:17And I remember the first time you did that, that was like a Dear Diary moment.
03:21Yeah.
03:22Like my freckles are okay.
03:23My freckles are beautiful.
03:24Yeah.
03:25No, but seriously, now it's a whole thing.
03:27Like they're freckle pens.
03:28I know.
03:29I know.
03:30People are getting them tattooed on their face.
03:31That's crazy.
03:32I really love the Loire look.
03:34Remember that?
03:35The blue.
03:36Yeah.
03:37In Paris.
03:38The photocall.
03:39Me too.
03:40When you go on a tour like this, it's so many.
03:42The volume of it and these women are just churning it out back to back to back.
03:46Yeah.
03:47That makeup was so good.
03:48The makeup, it's like the kind of glam, like you just don't want to wash it off.
03:52Ever.
03:53You want it to be permanent.
03:54Yeah.
03:55I don't know how you did that.
03:56I just feel like if we see the look, and Danielle is so amazing about sending us fitting photos
04:00beforehand, so we all are very much in the know of how it's going to look, what the backdrop's
04:04going to be, and I feel like it's like a feeling.
04:12Oh.
04:13Met Gala.
04:14Yeah.
04:15What can we say about that one?
04:17Okay, I'll tell you what happened.
04:19This was my first Met Gala, and I was going with Lueppe, and Jonathan Anderson designed
04:24this beautiful dress, and we had been talking about it for months, and there was a vision
04:29that came, I think initially from Danielle, of having a really long platinum blonde wig.
04:35This wig was made by an Oscar-winning hair wig maker.
04:40It cost a lot of money.
04:43Then the night before, we had an emergency fitting at around like 9pm.
04:49Everyone was summoned, and it was decided in that moment that we were going to nix the
04:55wig.
04:56Yeah.
04:57It's so high pressure.
04:58It always is, but to be told, please change the long blonde hair to Stella Tennant mullet.
05:04Yeah, and you didn't want to cut your own hair.
05:06Right.
05:07I'm committed, but not that committed.
05:09So this is classic Jenny Cho of going and finding wigs the day of.
05:15Yeah.
05:16Cutting, dyeing them.
05:17After she had already toned and colored this other wig, the platinum blonde, like leading
05:22up to this, and then you went out and you found like a bunch of toupee wigs.
05:26Yes, we did.
05:27We didn't know what to do.
05:28Nothing was open.
05:29I mean, I can't take all the credit, but you know, me and Mikey, he colored everything,
05:32and I cut it.
05:33And then Nina was also bleaching and re-bleaching my eyebrows.
05:38I bleached my eyebrows twice to get the right shade.
05:42Then obviously we had to dye them jet black again.
05:46Back again.
05:47We're in it for the highs and lows.
05:48Yeah.
05:49For sure.
05:54Phenis.
05:55Phenis.
05:56I mean, that's just such a...
05:57It was.
05:58The sunlight hitting your skin, your like tan, like the hair was just like free...
06:03I don't know.
06:04It just felt so glamorous.
06:05Yeah, and it wasn't as humid as it was the year before.
06:08It always feels like the gauntlet, like a challenge, like a okay, here are the elements.
06:15For this one, the dress was a mini, but it had a long frontal train, which I had never encountered before.
06:22A frame.
06:23Yes.
06:24A frame.
06:25Yes.
06:26So I had to learn how to do the 360 carpet and like kick the frame to the side and really work it.
06:32Thank God for the glam, because I ended up really feeling myself that day.
06:36It was really intense.
06:37The videos of you like running to, I don't know who you were running to, like fans or...
06:42Yeah.
06:43It was just like all of it in slow motion, your hair bouncing, I don't know.
06:47Oh, yeah.
06:48It was a really special moment.
06:49It really was a special moment.
06:50It really was like one of my favorite moments.
06:52Yeah.
06:53Can you see a part of ourselves actually in that honestly?
06:55Yeah.
06:56You feel so incredibly proud.
06:57It feels like it's us too, like we're all there and I don't know.
07:01It's really, really special.
07:06Don't forget to subscribe to our channel and hit the notification bell, and I will like it.

07:22Bye.
07:23Bye.
07:24Bye.
07:26Bye.
07:27Bye.
07:29Bye.
07:30Bye.
07:31Bye.
07:32Bye.
07:33Bye.
07:34Bye.
07:35Bye.
07:36You
