Mumbai: During an exclusive Interview with Tarun Mansukhani, creative producer of 'Dining With The Kapoors', shared insights on working with the Kapoor Family. He described the shoot as 'chaotic' but fun, with no script and a focus on authenticity. Tarun praised the family's comfort and entertainment, particularly Reema Jain. After that, he addressed the criticism of 'Housefull 5', questioning why objectification is only attributed to women. He believed showcasing attractive actors is fair, given their hard work.

00:00Hi Tarun sir welcome to IMS. Hello nice to be here. So my first question to you is how did you join as creative producer for Dining with Kapoor?
00:09Arman Jain and me have been friends he's the producer of the show and we've been friends for quite a while now and one day I remember about four years ago he started telling me that he wants to do something like this he wants to produce this kind of a film and at that time it was just us two friends brainstorming talking nonsense encouraging him
00:29and doing all of those things and after that I kind of got busy with House of Five and then I met him again one night and he said listen it's really happening I've got the family together and we want to do this can you please come on to the show in some capacity and I said okay I'll tell you what I'll be a creative producer on the show and we take it from there and that's how we just came together and I became a part of this wonderful big family show.
00:55That's amazing. My next question is how was it like shooting with the entire Kapoor Jain?
01:01If I had to say it in one word then chaotic but chaotic in a fun way because in this film there was no script it's a reality right and you want them to be as authentic as possible so our jobs for the first time were actually to keep the cameras away just shooting this and letting them be by themselves and be with each other to create that kind of
01:25a moment that we wanted from the show. And I think that was great about it is because we got to see the family the way they always are with each other.
01:33Raveen, what was the most difficult part of shooting with such a big family together?
01:38I think there was no difficult part other than the fact that khane mein kya hai. That menu that we have gone over so many times just to figure out ki they're all going to be asking khane mein kya hai.
01:52So we knew what we had to have by food was this massive spread of food because everyone eats whatever under the sun.
02:01Okay. They are called first family of Indian cinema. Do you agree with this tag as in today's democratic world it seems a little monarchic?
02:13No, it's a way of saying things. We are not claiming that they are the royal family or the kings and queens. It's a way of saying something.
02:22They've been a huge huge part of this industry in forming this industry, in building this industry.
02:28And definitely, yes, you give them that kind of a title just out of respect. It's not meant to be taken so seriously.
02:36You have worked with Kareena earlier. How was the shooting with Ranbir Kapoor this time?
02:42Oh, amazing because he's wonderfully punctual. He's just there. You can tell him to do whatever you want from him to do.
02:49But unfortunately in this one, I didn't get to direct him in that sense because I was a creative producer
02:54sitting on the side and just watching everyone and making sure cameras are taken care of rather than the actors.
03:00Okay, lovely. Are we going to see Ranbir in any of your upcoming projects?
03:05I hope so. I hope so that I can Rande write a film that he would be excited to do.
03:11Okay, we are excited too.
03:12There are few Kapoor's like Shammiji's wife, Kunal Kapoor who stay away from Limelight.
03:19How comfortable they are being a part of this reality show?
03:22I think they're very comfortable by the fact that they were surrounded by people they trusted, right?
03:27Including primarily Arman who was the producer again of this show.
03:31So, his kind of presence alone was greatly comforting for everyone.
03:36And then you're surrounded by Rima, Dabu uncle, everyone over there.
03:41Surrounding your nephews and nieces are around you from all sides of the family.
03:46So, definitely for them, even though they are not an everyday part of the Limelight,
03:50it was an easy aspect for them to handle everything because of the family coming together.
03:55Okay, great.
03:57What was the most interesting behind-the-scenes stories that you want to share with us?
04:02At this point, I don't want to say anything about the behind-the-scenes.
04:05I'd really want y'all all to watch it so that y'all can pinpoint to certain things
04:09and then we can talk about it after that and what really transpired
04:12and how difficult was it to do something.
04:14Okay.
04:15What special thing you learnt about food and dining while shooting with me?
04:19The special thing I learnt is that I don't have the genetics that they have
04:25where they can eat whatever they want and it doesn't show up on their body at all.
04:30Okay.
04:31Which Kapoor is the most entertaining at the dinner table?
04:36I think that would be Rima.
04:37Definitely it would be Rima Jain.
04:39She is by far the most entertaining, the loudest and definitely the happiest of the lot is Rima.
04:47Okay.
04:48How long have you known the Kapoor family?
04:50Well, technically now I've gone back if you see my first interaction.
04:55Well, technically my mother and Babita ji had kind of been friends when they were young
05:00in their teens, not post-teens.
05:03Not that that was a family thing or anything that we knew of.
05:07Then of course with K3G when I got to work with Kareena and that's kind of where the association began.
05:13Okay.
05:14Apart from Kapoor's, which family from industry do you think is foodie and ideal for a dining show?
05:23Foodies.
05:24I don't know who all are foodies because I don't like food.
05:27I eat to live.
05:29So, I really wouldn't know much about who loves what.
05:32Okay.
05:34Your most recent release, Household 5, had a huge cast and Dining with Kapoor's also has a huge number of people in the show.
05:41How different is it to shoot non-fiction with such large number of people?
05:47Very different because on one side I'm very clear about what I want and what I'm telling the actors to do.
05:53If they deviate too much, I'm telling them to come back.
05:55And it's a lot more control whereas in a live show, I mean in a reality show like that, you want them to go wild.
06:03You want them to go all over the place and technically you're not controlling anything.
06:07You're just sitting there and making sure you kind of get something or the other and then figuring it out.
06:12Okay.
06:14Talking about Household 5, while the film received commercial success, but it also received a lot of flack online for objectifying women.
06:22What is your take on this?
06:24Well, my take on it is why didn't I get flack for objectifying men?
06:27That's what I wonder about all the time.
06:29It's like if you're telling me I'm objectifying women, why weren't the accusations about me objectifying men?
06:34The moment that starts to come, you realize that it's an equal thing.
06:39I think beautiful, they all look beautiful looking people.
06:42Why shouldn't I show them all for all the hard work that they put into looking fit and looking great on screen?
06:48Why not?
06:49I don't have a problem with it.
06:50Whoever does can just figure it out.
06:53Thank you so much, Tarun, for doing this.
06:55My pleasure.
06:55It was great being here.
