00:00I participate in February Fitness because it gives me accountability. I like that the other
00:20teammates participate as well. We hold each other accountable and showing up to workout
00:24every morning. I think the coolest part is it gets me out of bed every morning for the
00:29month of February and to put in the yardage. And by the end of February, I'm in so much better shape
00:34than I was in the beginning. And it's a great way to start the year. Get me ready for the open water
00:38sequence.
00:39So I need, I need novelty in my life. So I might say it's a great way to start the year. And
00:45February is the month that I count my yardage. I love February Fitness to help me train for
00:52some longer swims, maybe some longer open water swims or like swimming the mile for the first
00:58time at one of our swim meets.
00:59I love February Fitness to help me train for some longer swims, maybe some longer open water
01:04swims or like swimming the mile for the first time at one of our swim meets.
01:09I've never done February Fitness, but I'm looking forward to it. It's going to be great. It's going to be awesome.
01:30February Fitness has given me something to focus on. I don't do the whole 100,000 yards. I'm not like
01:47that much into it, but I can set my own goal. And our website's really cool because you can put in what
01:51your goal is and they can actually give you how many yards you need to do each day of the week.
01:56I think February Fitness has allowed me to think outside the box with my swimming goals and their goals
02:03that I like to make, which usually involve shorter, faster things than kicking. And so February Fitness
02:09is a short time when I can be open to making other goals and encouraging people to make other goals.
02:17So like Shannon reminded me, I've never been a strong puller and I really wanted to focus on pulling.
02:24I have three goals every single year for February Fitness. What is to beat John?
02:29Yes.
02:30No. What is not get injured?
02:32Yes.
02:33And the last one is don't get sick. The only one I've achieved is beating John.
02:37It's a good opportunity to improve your level of fitness. What I like to do is set a yardage goal, which is kind of out there, and try to achieve that, which usually means having to swim every day. For my personal goal, everybody's different. I also like it because there's usually a group of friends,
02:56fellow swimmers that will share that goal and usually see them on deck a lot more than you normally do because you're showing up to more workouts. And it builds those friendships, kind of strengthens those social ties. My goal generally is just physical fitness and swimming. And so it definitely improves your stamina.
